I've never broken a bone or given birth, but I have had some very painful periods that have made me feel like I'm going to pass out. Also terrible travel sickness / vomiting on a 20 hour trip that left me wishing for death due to how crap I felt.

Anal abscess - couldn’t sit, stand or lie down without the pressure making me want to end it there and then. The only way to get comfy was floating in a boiling hot bath.

I went to A and E and they tried to convince me it was a pile, I’ve never been so quick to take my trousers down and bend over to show someone my arsehole and prove it wasn’t.

Pixiedust49 · 03/10/2023 21:08

Tooth ache that went on for months during lockdown.Childbirth was way easier.

Dogsitterwoes · 03/10/2023 21:09

A condition called CRPS
It tops the McGill pain scale.

It felt like someone had poured petrol over my hand and put a match to it. Large amounts of 4 different painkillers at the same time hardly touched it.

Thankfully went into remission as i think i would have killed myself if not.

Stumbleine · 03/10/2023 21:09

Close call between my knee caps slipping out of place and failed mid cavity forceps delivery. Though at least I was half delirious with exhaustion by the time the forceps came along.

justasking111 · 03/10/2023 21:09

Spinal spasms. injections of steroids into my eyeball shortly after surgery on the eye. Local anaesthetic didn't work

sprigatito · 03/10/2023 21:09

Labouring on my back all night with severe SPD, failed epidural. Massive third degree tear, haemorrhage and retained placenta. Took me months to feel even vaguely normal again and I still get flashbacks. I can't watch childbirth scenes because I get horrible phantom pains.

hollylou · 03/10/2023 21:09

I had a forceps delivery with no pain relief and I would choose that 100 times over gallstones, absolutely horrific pain

lazarusb · 03/10/2023 21:09

Two slipped discs in the base of my spine. 18 months of constant chronic pain. Made labour x 3 seem like a breeze. Ditto breaking my nose, toe and shutting my thumb in a car door (not at the same time!).

It frightens me that it could happen again at any time. It's the main incentive to do regular weight bearing exercise.

dancinfeet · 03/10/2023 21:09

dental abscesses when I had several at the same time, followed by childbirth and IBS.

FuckingHellAdele · 03/10/2023 21:09

I've had three childbirths, and four lots of injections into my eyes.

Without doubt, the most pain I've ever had was simultaneous infected ingrown (big) toenails, bizarrely about 3 weeks postpartum, in the depths of winter. Absolute fucking agony.

Rattlethestars · 03/10/2023 21:10

Dc1 birth
DC2 labour

Endometriosis

DisforDarkChocolate · 03/10/2023 21:10

Inflamed bowel. I don't react well to painkillers.

I did pass out from the pain having my youngest but I don't remember that.

Imenti · 03/10/2023 21:10

Kidney stones x 3 😭

Lou670 · 03/10/2023 21:10

I would have said birth of my second born with no pain relief at all. That was until I got a dry socket following a tooth extraction. Worst pain ever!

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 03/10/2023 21:10

Frozen shoulder

mumtroubles · 03/10/2023 21:10

predictably - giving birth without medication. I momentarily contemplated suicide just to make it stop with DC1😂😩

ChaosAndCrumbs · 03/10/2023 21:10

Chronic regional pain syndrome. Just excruciating.

Voodoochile · 03/10/2023 21:10

Acute appendicitis. Fainted with pain after the first shot of morphine and knew it was bad when they decided to operate at 3am on a Sunday. Delivering 9lb DS with nothing but gas and air was a piece of piss in comparison.

QuestionableMouse · 03/10/2023 21:10

Posterior shoulder dislocation. Absolutely grim.

Motnight · 03/10/2023 21:10

Gallstones

SocialistSally · 03/10/2023 21:11

Heart attack, caused by a spontaneous coronary artery dissection. My second one was more painful than induced labour without drugs. I have never known pain like it. They had to give me fentanyl and morphine.

EsmeSusanOgg · 03/10/2023 21:11

Acute pancreatitis due to micro gallstones passing during pregnancy

Abcessed mastitis

Back-to-back labour (the pushing bit)

Kidney stones

Gallstones

Broken ankle

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 03/10/2023 21:11

I have given birth twice but sciatica was worse

DelphiniumBlue · 03/10/2023 21:11

Toothache - the relief when the tooth came out was incredible!
Having anaesthetic injections in my big toe actually made me cry it was so painful ( but very short-lived). Having 3 babies with no pain relief was a breeze in comparison. Although to be fair, I wasn't being brave not having pain relief, it just didn't hurt enough to warrant it. I'm very aware that this is unusual.

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 03/10/2023 21:12

Gallstones. It's unrelenting and feels like you've been caught in a massive bear trap. Nothing touched the pain, not codeine or oramorph. Was admitted and had it removed pretty quickly though and the recovery was a breeze!
