Does anyone else have a bra purse?

CoraLovesMashedPotato · 02/10/2023 13:41

Just been to the post office to post something and when I needed to pay, I promptly fished my bank card out of my bra. The lady laughed and admitted she had a bra purse too. Since lockdown, I just don't carry a bag or a purse anywhere! Some days, I have my phone, house keys, bank card and a poo bag in there! Is it just me?

No

Because it is grim, and because I have more than enough to put in my bra without adding the contents of my handbag.

The exception is that when I was young and going clubbing I used to put an emergency fiver in the pocket for the pads in a Wonderbra. The pocket and pad meant it didn't get sweaty. This was to ensure that even if you got your purse nicked you always had enough money to get home on your own safely. The boys used to put their emergency fiver in their shoe but that doesn't work with strappy sandals.

Aren't boobs likely to be cleaner than your hands if you are at the end of your shopping trip?

(They are certainly not unhygenic in the way that 'your arse crack' is likely to be.)

AliciaLime · 02/10/2023 15:20

Occasionally my phone when I’m cleaning or something and have no pockets, but haha at all that, why not. Always a bit worried I’ll boob dial someone though. My boob once accidentally returned a Libby library book while listening to it, super annoying.

You’re not gross, OP, but the way some posters lay into others on here, is.

whereaw · 02/10/2023 15:20

As an a-cupper I can only assume this is a stealth brag about the size of your boobs! Grin

It's a contactless card so concerns about cleanliness are a bit silly.

in an evening bag with my phone and keys? The same way I did when I was 18, where else?

I would put the emergency funds and a house key in the push-up bra pocket (the opening intended to insert the push up bra pad / cushion) when I went clubbing as an 18/19 yo.

The intention was (obviosuly) to never use said money, seeing as it was there for emergency / in case I lost my purse.

I am however fairly amazed that people put items they intend to frequently use in their bras!
Even if I were to disregard the discussion around hygiene and manners... Isn´t it incredibly fussy and impractical? I am currently wearing a button up. I would probably have to open a button if I wanted to get a phone out of my bra!

whereaw · 02/10/2023 15:21

I did put something there back in my clubbing days though! Grin

NotFastButFurious · 02/10/2023 15:23

My friend does this and it revolts me!

That is so grim and cringy.

You stand in front of someone and stick your hand in your bra to fish out your sweaty bank card? Seriously?

Couldn't agree more... 🤢

CherryMaple · 02/10/2023 15:25

Yes to a contactless card. No to phone, cash or keys.

I do not whip the card out at the till. I will be holding it in my hand by then so as not to horrify the retail staff 😊

EaudeJavel · 02/10/2023 15:36

With the cost of everything these days, it's £50 notes the young clubbing girls must be hiding in their bras, that'd barely cover emergency taxi and nowhere enough for a locksmith 😂

I shouldn't laugh, imagine if they start being targeted for their cash hidden in their bras? I stick with my bags, safer on so many levels.

Ilikeyourdecor · 02/10/2023 15:36

I don't understand how you can keep a phone in your bra and it not be a) uncomfortable and b) ridiculous looking! I reckon I could barely hide a key in there without it looking super weird and lumpy.

DragonFly98 · 02/10/2023 15:37

Just pay on your phone or your watch like a normal hygienic person.

MaidOfSteel · 02/10/2023 15:39

I don't know if it's more or less dirty, but it's certainly chavvy. Ugh.

her phone's in her bra too though. so paying that way will involve some interesting boob shimmying.

RantyAnty · 02/10/2023 15:42

I do it around the house mostly.
Extra Kleenex in bra, my glasses hung on the front of my shirt, sometimes phone in bra if I have my hands full. Really helps not to set the things down and forget where I put them.

PS my boobs aren't sweaty.

Trainplan · 02/10/2023 15:43

Boobs are so filthy, imagine shoving one in your baby's mouth 😆

The idea was if it was in your bra/shoe it was safe if you got your bag/purse stolen or if a mugger told you to handover your bag/purse you could do so knowing that you could still get home.

Sunshinenrain · 02/10/2023 15:52

Crazyjanes · 02/10/2023 15:07

the reaction here is hilarious. Why is a boob more likely to be sweaty than your hands? Any minging sweat or dirt is much more likely to be on peoples hands. They could have been absolutely anywhere and you wouldn’t know. If you think you’re popping your PIN number in to a machine that hasn’t had at least one person wipe their bum or pick their nose without washing their hands after then you are living in a fantasy land.

Some people just cannot grasp the concept of your hands being dirtier than your boobs.

I thought it was common sense but obviously not everyone has it.

Or maybe these are people who hardly ever wash their bodies or bras.

Ginmonkeyagain · 02/10/2023 15:55

Just buy clothes with pockets people.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 02/10/2023 15:56

Wow, here's me thinking that people washed their hands regularly too or at least everything they touch something unsanitary. Clearly, I overestimated hygiene standards.

People can turn it around whatever way they want & debate level of germs hands, boobs v pockets etc but it's still rude, ignorant and hugely disrespectful.

Babies come out of vaginas. Doesn't mean you should shove your bank card up there.

Cas112 · 02/10/2023 16:14

I do but I wouldn't publicly announce it, it's frowned up, especially by shopkeepers haha

Bigcat25 · 02/10/2023 16:17

CoraLovesMashedPotato · 02/10/2023 13:58

But...no one is touching anything.

People still need to see you shove your hand into your underwear, which is rude. If you put plastic or metal against your boobs they'll get all sweaty. Not sure why this has to be explained to you? How is that even comfortable?

Trainplan · 02/10/2023 16:18

I completely agree it's not something I'd do, but the hygiene arguments are ridiculous.
