Does anyone else have a bra purse?

CoraLovesMashedPotato · 02/10/2023 13:41

Just been to the post office to post something and when I needed to pay, I promptly fished my bank card out of my bra. The lady laughed and admitted she had a bra purse too. Since lockdown, I just don't carry a bag or a purse anywhere! Some days, I have my phone, house keys, bank card and a poo bag in there! Is it just me?

That's disgusting and sounds like something off "Shameless" 😨

uncomfortablydumb53 · 02/10/2023 14:52

If you can fit things in your bra, it doesn't fit you properly.
It's basic courtesy not to stand in the queue fishing into your bra in my book
Not to mention bad hygiene
Use a belt bag or a bigger phone case

When I was in my early twenties, I woke up after a night out and stumbled into the bathroom for a shower to revive myself. I am shortsighted and didn’t have my glasses or contacts on.

I took off my clothes and was horrified to see in the mirror that I had a huge dark mole on the underside of my boob. I had never even noticed it before but knew by looking at my reflection that I would soon be dead of cancer.

I moved closer to the mirror to inspect this giant mole, and discovered that it was simply a 50p piece that was stuck to my tit.

I don’t usually keep things other than breasts in my bra, but on that previous night, clearly I had made use of my purse bra.

gotomomo · 02/10/2023 14:54

I do it with my keycard in hotels but normally I would have keys and mobile phone so use a small bag

Grim, I really do not want to be handed something from someone's bra. I use pockets or a handbag not exactly onerous.

How is a bra, presumably laundered fairly frequently, less hygienic than someone's coat pocket?

evtheria · 02/10/2023 14:54

Nope. As someone who worked in a cafe for a decade, I'd have been grossed out if the customer fished a tenner out of their bra. All money is disgusting but I don't want to see it happening.

kitsuneghost · 02/10/2023 14:55

Would it not ruin your bra?

TheMurderousGoose · 02/10/2023 14:59

Well it's certainly not me.

seems a bit uncouth (and a bit eww) whipping your debit card out of your bra.

the things Post Office workers must see.

Most people wash their hands way more often than their boobs or anywhere else on their body.

Most, not all people wash their hands multiple times a day and wash their boots and body once a day or less.

Well yes, but that's because their hands touch stuff 😆 Where exactly are boobs picking up all these germs from?

A card kept in a pocket amongst the tissues is going to be far dirtier.

It's not something I do but some of these arguments against are very funny.

bellac11 · 02/10/2023 15:00

Difficult if you're wearing a tight polo neck sweater.

Mangolover123 · 02/10/2023 13:59

Oh dear, I often pop my phone in there!

Me too.

Where do people keep their emergency £10 when they go out nowadays? Used to be that bra or boot would be the place you kept your emergency taxi funds back when I was young and went out drinking.

If clothes designers put pockets in women's clothes this wouldn't be an issue. Even my 9yo complains about shitty pretend pockets on girls trousers.

RedToothBrush · 02/10/2023 15:01

No it's antisocial and nasty.

Shadypaws23 · 02/10/2023 15:01

Absolutely not
The only thing I have done on a night out is kept an emergency £20 somewhere on me in case my bag got stolen. And yes that could be my bra but I would have to have been mugged to use it so desperate times!

Sunshinenrain · 02/10/2023 15:03

Meloncocomelon · 02/10/2023 14:50

Nope.

Have you not heard of ringworm, impetigo or scabies? They're nothing to do with germs but are skin infections/parasites passed on by skin cells.

Someone could have clean hands but pass them on with a gross bra card. And they erroneously think like you, that it's fine as hands are more dirty

Stop being gross and stop trying to justify your disgusting habits by saying 'what about ..'

It's disgusting, stop making excuses. There is no need for you to store stuff in your underwear and expect people to not be grossed out by it.

Yes I have and all of these are spread mostly by skin to skin contact by touching which is most often by your hands, considering your boobs are covered up 99% of the time.

If someone touches the door, cereal box or money you’ve touched then you will get the germs that were on their hands directly on to your hands.

It’s fact that your hands are the dirtiest part of your body.

You can find putting stuff in your bra as gross as you want to and be as precious as you want about germs but you cannot say it’s more gross than using your hands because it’s not because you are guaranteed to have more germs on your hands, especially when shopping.

The owner is the only one touching the bank card as well.
So at least it reduces the cross contamination from your hands.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 02/10/2023 15:04

Well, you just unlocked a memory!!

when I was younger (much younger. Probably 18/19) I would put some cash and my house key in the bra "pocket" intended for the push up "cushion" when I went clubbing or to certain concerts!

I´d take out cushion and use the "empty space" as a little pocket.

It wasn´t intended for public use, btw. It was akin to an emergency / back up in case I lost my purse.

Ginmonkeyagain · 02/10/2023 15:05

@CyberCritical in the same place as I keep all the other stuff I need when I go out - in a handbag or my pocket.

Ginmonkeyagain · 02/10/2023 15:05

If I am running I have a little pocket at the back of my leggings.

Trainplan · 02/10/2023 14:54

Because nobody sweats into their pockets or certainly to the same degree.

Even if a pocket touches the body, it's usually close your waist or in an outer garment.

I can only imagine my partners reaction if we were to have an intimate moment and cards, money, coins, keys were in my bra or the outline of keys indented on my breasts.

Crazyjanes · 02/10/2023 15:07

the reaction here is hilarious. Why is a boob more likely to be sweaty than your hands? Any minging sweat or dirt is much more likely to be on peoples hands. They could have been absolutely anywhere and you wouldn’t know. If you think you’re popping your PIN number in to a machine that hasn’t had at least one person wipe their bum or pick their nose without washing their hands after then you are living in a fantasy land.

Pockets have hands in. Much dirtier than boobs. Plus coins and tissues and rubbish, maybe a comb...

Redglitter · 02/10/2023 15:09

Thats disgusting. Fair enough you don't want to carry a big bag buy a phone size one. Keeping things in your bra is just clatty

in an evening bag with my phone and keys? The same way I did when I was 18, where else?

Cobwobs · 02/10/2023 15:15

Slightly better than your arse crack I suppose

luckylavender · 02/10/2023 15:17

Grim. Imagine having to handle that cash.
