Am I imagining things or is it getting worse here. Every single time we post something a poster will immediately pop up and hijack the thread with a pro-men agenda instead of actually contributing to the thread.

Please tell me if you agree. I can't possibly be the only one who thinks this.

So @CakeInAJar
Do you think all baby boys ( baby men) are the plague of the earth and that you via MN should promote a massacre of the innocents type scenario?
I think that deserves national attention.

Apparently many think that way as boys are more likely to be murdered than girls.

And none of it is as damaging and final as death, which is where male violence frequently leads.

To the PP who said about men coming on Mumsnet- I read a post several years ago from a poster who said she comes on here to find out and hear what women think. Thats what interested her. That's why she was here, not to hear what men think.

Agree 💯. Men's opinions and words dominate the world. I'd like to hear from women.

Summonedbybees · 03/10/2023 18:07

@CakeInAJar It is a record of sexist and ageist attitudes on MN when posts about tricking old women into thinking they have a terminal illness are not removed. I also sent a copy of my concerns to MN and these type of posts are now removed. My actions did some good.
I do agree with Trailing Loellia. Posts that describe half the population as being a 'plague' is hate speech and worth keeping a record to reflect attitudes that are allowed to stand.

? Women are part of the problem. We do kill children, and are just as likely to kill our own children. It’s a bit rich to pretend we don’t and act like the only problem is men. Raising boys to think men “are a plague” and are ‘the problem’ that becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Summonedbybees · 03/10/2023 18:19

So what is your solution @CakeInAJar ? I don't agree with describing more than 50% of the population as a 'plague'.
Surely you cannot promote the eradication of all baby boys and men, as one would talk about eradicating a plague? Is that really what you think?

Summonedbybees · 03/10/2023 18:21

That sounds like the type of hate speech that is found on extremist sites.

OK, not everytime. But a lot of the time, and a lot more than it used to be.

I agree, I’ve noticed it mostly the past couple of weeks. There was a thread about a woman wondering whether she wanted kids or not and feeling bad her partner didn’t want to and this SAHD appeared saying the ‘pendulum has swung so far the other way’ (that tired speel) that it’s now expected for women not to have kids and he wonders about the social ramifications of it.

Yeah try telling every women aged 30 and above that there’s no societal pressure to have kids and there’s only societal pressure NOT to have kids 🙄

Lostcotter · 03/10/2023 18:25

CharlotteRumpling · 02/10/2023 08:39

News threads: A 15 year old girl slaughtered by a boy she said no to.

Responses on MN: Yes, but when I was 15 a girl was mean to me, so women are just as bad!

🙄

This! Even on dating threads women are talking about being intimidated and groped on first dates and men will pop up saying - “we have an hard time too, my date cancelled on me !” 🙄

LolaSmiles · 03/10/2023 18:25

The whataboutery and false comparisons have taken off on this thread.

Some women kill their children though according to academics at the University of Manchester “Overall, fathers were significantly more likely to kill their children than mothers, and were more likely to use violent methods of killing, have previous convictions for violent offences, perpetrate multiple killings, and have a history of substance misuse or dependence.”

Saying the odd woman does X doesn’t mean we all do. However men offend in such high and overrepresnted numbers that as a class they pose a risk to women. This doesn’t mean all men are bad, or violent. This doesn’t mean that even the nastiest woman is nicer than the nicest man. But when you approach these issues you have to approach them for how one class of people affects another - and men, women and children are at MUCH higher risk of danger from men, rather than women.

Erm..no. Why on Earth did you think that was a solution?!

There isn’t one solution - there are many. Many do-able, long term solutions that would take a good decade to see an effect but are better than what we have now.

id love to share those. But TBH I don’t really feel like misogynists deserve to hear how we can make the world a safer place for men AND women. I’d rather save my energy and live a bit longer. My time is limited and I’d rather share these with people who are gonna listen and not go “but but….women can be MEAN”

No, hate speech on extremist sites like incel talk about the mass murder of women. Not a correct summarisation of the fact men cause enormous amounts of damage.

CakeInAJar · 03/10/2023 18:30

Why are people saying women are more likely or just as likely to murder their children?! That’s not true

Lostcotter · 03/10/2023 18:32

BlurredEdges · 02/10/2023 14:12

We get the male perspective on everything, everywhere, all the time.

Exactly. It’s enough. Give us one space!

Summonedbybees · 03/10/2023 18:33

@CakeInAJar . It was your defence of a poster describing men ( as a whole), not 'some', not 'many', as the plague of the earth that made me question your solution to a description of mankind as a plague.

Men are responsible for more than 90% of murders in England/Wales.
Yes, there are women who kill their own children. This is sad and awful but it does not make women a threat to the general population.
I don't think men are a plague, but there is no denying that they do most of the murdering.

CakeInAJar · 03/10/2023 18:35

@Summonedbybees - that poster never said ‘all men’. Please don’t make things up.

Also - what is the ‘solution’ in that statement? I don’t think it was meant to present a solution.

What’s your solution that is to kerb the epidemic of male violence? I bet it has something to do with blaming women

Summonedbybees · 03/10/2023 18:42

@CakeInAJar
The poster wrote
' 'Men truly are the plague on this earth.'
Not some men, not many men but men.
That is a very dangerous statement.
I can provide the link?

So what if they did.

One random person - an uninfluential, anonymous person - writes an innocuous post referring to an undetermined number of men. Other than getting your knickers in a knot this has literally no impact on anything.

Meanwhile VAWG by men (and indeed against other men) is happening right now. Yet it’s some random person’s words on one forum you want to Stand up against? Why?

I think dangerous statements such as “Women kill their children the same rate as men is dangerous in that it spreads misinformation around child murders

CakeInAJar · 03/10/2023 18:45

Summonedbybees · 03/10/2023 18:46

Lol!

How so?

Such a classic “I’m losing the argument” move - deflect by pretending to be affronted by something.

Don’t you think spreading misinformation about child deaths is harmful?

itsaquarterafterone · 03/10/2023 18:47

Just a thought but If a man wrote something about ALL women it would be deleted.
