How often do you eat at McDonalds?

Just interested. I think DH visits too often with the kids, he would take them even more if it wasn’t for me asking him not to.

For context he takes them once a fortnight, he would take them once or twice in a week if it wasn’t for me putting my foot down.

It annoys me as I do 90% of the parenting (he works away often) and I feel I can’t give them a lazy tea as they’re already having enough crap.

I know I’ll be criticised for that and not too interested - just wonder what other people do?

😄 this thread. It’s like a customer satisfaction survey.

Agree and once their DC’s are teenagers and students they will be eating it regularly

Right! Washed down with can after can of monster and a vape for dessert 😂

Not sure how true that is. DS and his friends don’t and they are all at Uni. They don’t drink or smoke either. There’s definitely a trend for not repeating the mistakes of your parents.

I’ve had one this year and it was nice enough but thought it was a bit expensive now. I used to go in regularly for work but didn’t order stuff for that reason. The ones near colleges are full of teens by in my one it’s all older blokes or mums with young kids.

Oh I see. I was just interested in other families habits 😊

Me rarely
DH never
DD about once a week
DS prefers Burger King and gets that about once an month

OTM1982 · 01/10/2023 17:20

Whenever we feel like one. Can't remember the last time to be honest but other times we could have had two a week, two a fortnight or once a month and no one died, no one's fat and no one's ill.

NightLightHalfLight · 01/10/2023 17:21

We used to visit relatives every four weeks for about a decade and we had one every time on the way back. I had a breakfast this week as was bought it. We don’t have them often at all but on the motorway for those years it was handy.

DIYandEatCake · 01/10/2023 17:23

The McPlant burgers are delicious - so much like beef burgers but even better as they have no gristly bits. We’re a family of vegetarians and love them (go to McDonald’s about once a month or so as a treat).

Yerroblemom1923 · 01/10/2023 17:27

My dd is a teen so likes to go out with her mates shopping, cinema etc so she might have one once a month when she's out which I don't think is too bad.
I'm veggie and usually disappointed with my meal so might have one twice a year if that (just to remind myself how crap it is!).
Dh possibly 5 times a year....

newbie202020 · 01/10/2023 17:29

Never, my child hates it!

MavisMcMinty · 01/10/2023 17:31

I was accused of “humble-bragging” or some such last time I posted this, but because I live 25 miles from my nearest McDonalds, I have them about 4 times a year, when I go to the bright city lights of Barnstaple, or when I drive the 240 miles to visit my Dad, when I reward myself for not stopping on the way with a Big Mac, 10 miles from his house (always buying him an apple pie as a greeting gift).

So if I had kids geography would be the obvious deterrent to feeding them McDonalds all the time, but I have to say that their prices seem to have rocketed over the last year, you could get two large Big Mac meals for under a tenner not long ago, now it’s knocking on £13 for the same, hardly a cheap option for filling up your family.

But children and teenagers can eat vast amounts of fast food, and use up all those calories and more, I wouldn’t fret too much about it, as long as they eat/learn how to cook “proper” food alongside.

airfresh123 · 01/10/2023 15:38

Grandchild never. She is vegetarian and the veggie nuggets are too spicy .
My children probably about once every couple of months when they were children.

I know it's not necessary to have McDonald's 😅 But my son likes the McPlant burger. Just putting it out there, incase you're ever in the situation where options are limited.

PandaExpress · 01/10/2023 17:37

Probably average about once a month. We can go months without having one, then for some reason have a couple in a month. If it were like the states where you can get the breakfast menu all day, I'd probably have more!

MavisMcMinty · 01/10/2023 17:37

Years ago and carless/bikeless, I lived about a mile from the (then new) McDonalds on Holloway/Seven Sisters Road, and used to STEAM there and back, honestly, I must have been a blur to passers by. Because of all the calories I burned to get there and back, I bought TWO Big Macs and ate them all. These days I put on a kilo every time I eat one, so thank goodness they’re such a rare treat.

Zola1 · 01/10/2023 17:39

Lol

When she was little maybe once a month or once every 3 weeks. Now she goes with friends so it's outside my control.
I don't really like McDonald's but I do get a coffee there sometimes when I'm driving. I only don't like it because I'm veggie and their veggie options aren't great.

I get the coffee. I have a food allergy so don’t eat there myself.

Once a week, sometimes more.
Currently on a Saturday lunchtime after an activity. Sometimes during the week. My eldest is now 28 and youngest 15.
My view is generally, they are cheap, clean and a bit of a treat.

junbean · 01/10/2023 18:09

Every few months usually. My 13yo just moved from Happy Meals to Big Macs so I taught her how to make a healthier version at home and she loved that so we haven't been going much unless I want a cheap drive thru coffee or we're on the way home & too tired to cook.

HollyFern1110 · 01/10/2023 18:18

Only ever really if we're travelling. We might stop there for breakfast before we get on the motorway. Or if it's lunchtime/teatime and we stop at a services it's often just what's available.

DD only likes the chicken nuggets & fries there (and the breakfast pancakes) so it would be a bit boring for her to go too often.

I have no issue with the idea of once a fortnight though. It's a treat, not every meal.

bellalou1234 · 01/10/2023 18:19

A few times per week. Mainly a sausage and egg mcmuffin and a bigmac once a week. I'm not fussy on the fries. I honestly love mcdonalds

Timmytap18 · 01/10/2023 18:27

Blough · 01/10/2023 17:12

Ok. I thought refusing to feed your kids decent food or teach them about nutrition and food shopping and cooking (as this man is doing) sounds useless, but I’m wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️

What do you think of the McDonald’s customer feedback thread?

Oh have a day off.

Taking his kids to Macdonalds regularly may not be the best choice (although completely normal and widely considered acceptable in the real world) but it doesn't make him useless. You know nothing about the poor fella!

Shadypaws23 · 01/10/2023 18:29

Every 4-5 months maybe?
I eat other stuff so I have a supermarket pizza once a week and often go to five guys on pay day though

Oakbeam · 01/10/2023 18:32

The last time was in 2010. I was in desperate need of a loo.

BoobyDazzler · 01/10/2023 18:32

Probably about once every ten days as a family. I usually have a maccies breakfast once a weekend too on my way to my hobby. McDonalds cheesy bacon flatbreads are incredible.

CleMNtine · 01/10/2023 18:33

2-3 times a year. They aren’t fussed by it though, usually prefer a supermarket sarnie if we need a car meal.

faffadoodledo · 01/10/2023 18:34

Not since 2000, when we were living in a hot part of America and I used to get the children pancakes from McD's and we'd eat them in the park while the temperature was still tolerable.
Happy memories. But I haven't been back since!
