How often do you eat at McDonalds?

Just interested. I think DH visits too often with the kids, he would take them even more if it wasn’t for me asking him not to.

For context he takes them once a fortnight, he would take them once or twice in a week if it wasn’t for me putting my foot down.

It annoys me as I do 90% of the parenting (he works away often) and I feel I can’t give them a lazy tea as they’re already having enough crap.

I know I’ll be criticised for that and not too interested - just wonder what other people do?

Once in my life, many years ago. Never wanted to repeat the nasty experience.

allhellcantstopusnow · 01/10/2023 16:55

This question always brings out the puritans on here.

Realistically, it's not the end of the world and probably not the hill to die on.

DickJagger · 01/10/2023 16:55

People on MN are utterly ridiculous about McDs. Acting as though it is poison ffs. Extra points if you deliberately spell it wrong to ram home how little you know about the place that serves poison burgers. We have it once a week i'd say. Yum.

Agree and once their DC’s are teenagers and students they will be eating it regularly!

Goldmember · 01/10/2023 16:57

I live 2 mins from McDs. We go every couple of months or sometimes just go for McFlurries when they have nice ones, Biscoff were amazing.
Teen DD goes with her mates every weekend though.

Fine if they are having a salad

Most Mumsnet answer ever 😂

Panda89 · 01/10/2023 16:58

The Creme Egg McFlurry is my fave.

StoatofDisarray · 01/10/2023 16:59

Maybe once every ten years and only if I'm with people who want to go there.

DRS1970 · 01/10/2023 17:00

I would say four times per year max.

Right! Washed down with can after can of monster and a vape for dessert 😂

jellytots18 · 01/10/2023 17:00

McDonald's is my fave takeaway I wish I had it more. It's not the best food in the world but at least it's consistent and it's never mar me ill.

About once every 2 or 3 months I have it. DH doesn't really like it and no DC yet x

Lovethatforyouhun · 01/10/2023 17:02

McDonalds is ultra processed food and that IS poison. Lots of new research proves it. It wrecks your physical and mental health. Brits are very obese. Facts.

That said we go a few times a year. A few fish fingers and chips occasionally isn't going to kill you.

countrygirl99 · 01/10/2023 17:03

I had one twice last year. Both times even coming home too late to cook after visiting dying relatives. That was the first time for about a decade. It's just need something quick when in transit food to me, nothing exciting. I wouldn't consider it a treat.

IncompleteSenten · 01/10/2023 17:04

Last time would probably have been November last year, maybe October (I'm on a diet). But prior to that maybe every couple of months my husband would bring either a McDonald's or a burger king.

I always used to really crave one, remember it as tasting great then eat it, feel sick, say well that was awful I'm not having another one of those then crave one again a couple of months later, once again telling myself it'd be delicious. Weird.

slopsan · 01/10/2023 17:06

McD food isn't healthy but it is not poison!

It's cheap, quick and for those with fussy eaters, the standardisation takes away the stress of eating out. Especially as they can remove things like sauce, mayo or gherkins at will.

Independent cafes are far more expensive and there is always the danger that I will order an "acceptable" meal only for it to be rejected. After far too many incidents of this, we get drive through once a week

margotrose · 01/10/2023 17:07

About twice a year, but that's only because our nearest McDonald's is a 40 minute drive away.

We get takeaway about once a week.

Nolongera · 01/10/2023 17:08

I have had about 6 in my life time of 60 years, not a fan, bread tastes sweet, chips taste sweet, meat tastes sweet, it's like they have added sugar to everything.

Plus what they call a meal, I call not enough food.

What's that supposed to mean? It is fine to have it more frequently if its a salad. The salad is nice. I think the grilled chicken wraps are ok too.

Blanketpolicy · 01/10/2023 17:09

Never Mcds, think it is the worst of the lot. Maybe a BK whopper once a year. KFC maybe every other month or so.

We tend to have takeaways - chinese, indian, fish n chips - instead. Ds used to go with friends in his tweens/early teens a lot as cheap, convienent and they could hang about there for a bit but he would rather have a chicken kebab or occasionally dominos than any of the fast food burger type places now.

Rightsraptor · 01/10/2023 17:10

Never.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 01/10/2023 17:11

Never, but I am in my 50s.

Last time was around 20 years ago.

He’s not useless - he has other qualities. But this does piss me off and isn’t entirely acceptable. We do sometimes have arguments about it.

Ok. I thought refusing to feed your kids decent food or teach them about nutrition and food shopping and cooking (as this man is doing) sounds useless, but I’m wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️

What do you think of the McDonald’s customer feedback thread?

I accept he’s useless in that respect, yes. He just does have other qualities I haven’t listed. That’s all I meant.

I have not seen the thread?
