How often do you eat at McDonalds?

Just interested. I think DH visits too often with the kids, he would take them even more if it wasn’t for me asking him not to.

For context he takes them once a fortnight, he would take them once or twice in a week if it wasn’t for me putting my foot down.

It annoys me as I do 90% of the parenting (he works away often) and I feel I can’t give them a lazy tea as they’re already having enough crap.

I know I’ll be criticised for that and not too interested - just wonder what other people do?

Too often 😂

We ordered dinner on Thursday and picked up breakfast on Saturday 😬

Health kick is going well so far 👍😂

Yestostructure · 02/10/2023 16:40

Lots for drive through coffee, but for food tapered that right back as kids hungry not long afterwards and it's basically nil nutrition.... I'd say once or twice a month now for food at most.

Those who say they never eat Maccies/KFC etc. what do you eat when you are hungover?

The mere thought of having to cook when I am hungover makes me feel ill.

I couldn't eat McDonald's hungover as I wouldn't be able to drive to get it!

A British Rail sausage roll was my go to for a hangover in my youth.

Fried egg butty now.

Good old Travellers Fare

We Uber it when we're hungover. I do like a fry-up but I usually wake up too late to order breakfast from the cafe-type places on our local Uber.

We ordered Starbucks for breakfast once. It was rank, cold, soggy, and flavorless. Mine went in the dog and I made myself a bacon butty instead.

Aprilx · 02/10/2023 17:09

No kids. DH and I average maybe two or three times a year, either breakfast or lunch, never dinner.

whatnot929 · 02/10/2023 17:10

Then, oh fateful day, I had a bite of my friend’s Big Mac, and have been devoted ever since, although I always peel off the fucking GHERKINS FFFS. Yeuch!

You hate gherkins but love Big Macs? What do you think makes the special sauce on them special? Yep gherkins.

Why do people complain so much about McDonalds food? It's all lowered salt and sugar, 100% chicken breast, 100% traced beef etc. It's not particularly bad at all. People act like its sludge but its just food.

Thementalloadisreal · 02/10/2023 17:13

This thread made me so hungry for McDs that I went and got one for lunch today 🤣

Badaba · 02/10/2023 17:18

The quality of the fries have gone downwards. Kids maybe once a week on a Saturday after clubs, but my eldest has totally gone off it due to the fries tasting of nothing.

I love the caramel frappe but it's never available. I love the mcmuffins but I choose more sleep every time 😁

AuntieMarys · 02/10/2023 17:23

Mid 60s and never been in one, let alone had one. Ditto Burger King, KFC and Subway. Never took the dcs either.

TeenLifeMum · 02/10/2023 17:28

We occasionally go when logistics mean fitting in eating is hard (dc perform in panto etc) so maybe twice a year to actually easy and then a few other times for the odd milkshake/ice cream McFlurry - 4 times a year tops.

Not being smug though, just don’t ask about my Starbucks iced vanilla latte obsession.

Sjh15 · 02/10/2023 17:29

We’ve just finished one haha

i live within about 10 mins of 4 diff McDonalds branches and a 5th is being built it’s mad. We must get McDonalds once every few months but sometimes get a kfc/Indian/Chinese (once every 2/3 weeks we may get one of those)

ohdamnitjanet · 02/10/2023 17:30

Yes, I’d be annoyed that I’d be feeling pissed off if I wanted a no cook junk food choice now and again and he’d taken that treat option away from me. I get where you’re coming from @TumblingTower
Once every couple of weeks seems reasonable to me.

According to Rimmer from ‘Red Dwarf’, the best cure for a hangover is a fried egg and chilli chutney sandwich, on white bread.

CakeInAJar · 02/10/2023 17:31

Good old food complex MN, I KNEW there’d be competitive “We only go when there is a turquoise moon and then we just have a fruit bag” or “McDonald’s? What’s that?” type posts 😂

HandlebarLadyTash · 02/10/2023 17:35

Kid once a month, I stopped eating there as the price has gone past the point of me thinking its a cheap meal.

You’d take back the sludge comment if you saw what went into the chicken nuggets !! I agree it’s not exactly empty calories but even the salads are high in calories.

My kids love for McDonalds but I’m not keen at all. Last time I was there though I thought ‘Oh I can’t be arsed cooking I’ll just get a Big Tasty meal”

It was nearly a tenner!

Jeffreybubblesbombom · 02/10/2023 17:39

Once a week.. when you have ASD kids if you know you know.

celticprincess · 02/10/2023 17:40

We go through phases of weekly then not for ages. Usually due to picking kids up from one place at say 4:30/5pm and needing to be half hour away by 6pm in the opposite direction of home. So for cheapness and quickness we go to macdonalds or sometimes Burger King which is in the direction of travel. This may happen for a term and then not again for another few month. Depends on their extra curricular activity schedule.

Minimooncat · 02/10/2023 17:47

Once a week after their football matches at the weekend

Crikeyalmighty · 02/10/2023 17:52

I'm gluten free so Maccy ds is a bit of a no no - cant say I don't like them though- I do!! Nando's however is great if gluten free and the salad with chicken is lovely

THEDEACON · 02/10/2023 18:06

One McDs a fortnight isn't bad

I am coeliac and can’t eat either. I eat a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw or a cheese toastie made at home 😳

No it’s not. But when that’s the only occasion you’re responsible for feeding the kids it then become pretty poor. Note also that that is the compromised position.

Then when I CBA to cook I have less options.
