To want to take my 12kg dog in the plane cabin

I’m going to Europe this summer and I’d like to take my dog but I dont want to put the dog in the hold. There are a number of airlines that allow dogs in the cabin if they are under 10kg (KLM, AirFrance, ITA air).

does anyone know of an airline from UK to Europe that would take a 12kg dog?

But it's not about what you or anyone else wants. It's about what the airline allows. If the airline allows OP to take a dog, she can. If it doesn't, she can't. Anything else is irrelevant.

Even after picking up poo, the poo bags still smell very bad. Plus our dog has digestive problems so it isn’t always easy to pick up without leaving some behind. Bad enough on grass…..

This is why we have the problems with dogs and why therapy wouldn't/ doesn't help.

just like no-one else thinks about passengers when their bratty kids kick seats, or bawling newborns travel in first class, or when chavvy Brits get drunk, or when youths play they’re videos without headphones, or parents allow kids to watch iPads without headphones and I have to listen to Peppa Bloody Pig for 2 hours.

Yeah the carrier does fit under the seat. So it’s not a problem. But thanks for mentioning that. I appreciate your help.

Which airline does 12kg in the cabin then? (and flies to Europe)

I have a friend who flew with her “emotional support animal”, aka her pet dog, in the cabin. He was stressed and did a massive wee in the aisle during the flight, which was nice for everyone on board.

Will your dog be comfortable in a small carrier for quite a few hours by the time you queue on both sides as well ? My dog would be very very scared of the plane noise and would be likely to cry a lot….. I wouldn’t take him for that reason.

There is a lot of generally inconsiderate behaviour I don't like.

People playing music without headphones on buses. People who don't maintain basic personal hygiene. People who eat smelly food on a busy train.

The thing is, they're allowed to do that. And if I have a problem with it, I'm the one who needs to move or put up with it. I might like eating food to be banned on a train but until it is, I need to accept people will eat food on trains.

I don't demand other people who are just going about their business within the rules bend to accommodate my personal whims.

I can see it being a problem but if you have an allergy or fear of dogs I’m guessing you wouldn’t book a flight on a plane that’s classed as ‘dog friendly’, I think there are in lot certain flights that allow dogs?

Aviation rules are about the law, and NOT about social niceties or norms.

When we took the ferry to Eire, our dog had to go in a crate in a special area.
Which is fine by me, but then I try not to be an entitled t**t

God it would be my worst nightmare having a dog on the plane, under your feet and barking. Why do airlines allow this? What about people with allergies?

It's not ableism....people don't want to be travelling in and seated amongst a living zoo.
If any "assistance" dog is accepted on the owners say so, then it won't be long before cats, rats, parrots and all manner of other animals are too.

The UK needs to have an official database of authorised guide dogs and official assistance dogs, then the situation can be managed more effectively.

Some European airlines allow dogs in the cabin providing they're small enough but... no airline (UK or otherwise) is allowed to fly a dog into the UK in the cabin. Going to be very costly for the return journey. Flying a 12kg dog in the cabin (in a crate) both ways? Bullshit - nice try.

Speak for yourself! I would much rather share a plane with lots of different animals than a lot of babies and children. Most adults too now I come to think of it 😂

Service dogs are an exception of course (for most airlines)
