Christ Almighty. Humanity really does have its priorities all wrong.
**
Since Salah has been playing for Liverpool research has shown a 20% drop in anti Muslim racist attacks in the city
**
He is an extremely generous man in the UK and Egypt - in the top 8 philanthropists in the UK
**
He's a UN Ambassador for diversity - mainly in education for women and girls

Maybe save your sour comments

Sour?! Nonsense.

That’s all very good. Doesn’t make anyone worth ££1 million, though, does it?

Is a Gucci handbag worth thousands of pounds? When all is said and done it's just a handbag, it doesn't benefit millions of people across the world and regularly generate huge sums of money for its company and charities in different countries yet people will still buy them.

Ultimately, something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, and in terms of Salah and other top footballers they bring pleasure to millions and bring in more revenue than they cost so they're good value.

He won’t be earning that by the time he is 40. And as others have said he does a lot with his money. He has a skill, has practised and honed his skill, and been lucky, and is making it pay for as long as he can. He could have a bad injury tomorrow in practise and never play again.

Personally I would rather have a Salah who has ( I think - happy to be corrected ) sends money back to his home country to build a hospital and a school and to give money to his home village that a Beckham who seems to prefer spending money on his lifestyle and his wife's business & cosying up to the current POW because he wants a knighthood.
This is a ridiculous and nasty comparison. Beckham was a globally recognised sportsman and and a brilliant footballer. Just like Salah he can spend his money on what he likes and if you read the Wiki page he donates a lot to charity and is involved in a lot of charity initiatives. He doesn't just sit around on his arse. He has a lot of businesses.

A lot of this is the old MN snobbery about football. Mo Salah could have a career ending injury next week. Good luck to him.

Then they're stupid. as is paying any individual £1m.

The cast of friends used to earn one million per episode. When the people of Ireland are begrudging politicians and personalities earning less than that a year I always wonder why they never think of that (yes I know tax payers money etc etc!)

They're completely different things!

stayathomer · 01/10/2023 22:19

But people saying it’s crazy someone running the country gets x amount- they’re earning less than an actor gets per episode? Or people saying the most famous broadcaster in the country should be on less?

JaneJeffer · 01/10/2023 22:23

If we're paying for them via taxes and tv licenses then we can say they're costing too much. We're not paying the cast of Friends!

SofiaSoFar · 01/10/2023 22:26

@MrsSkylerWhite Then they're stupid. as is paying any individual £1m.

If Salah earns the club an extra £50m per year, why shouldn't they pay him £20m?

They would still make that extra £50m so where should the money go, if not partly to the person directly responsible for the profit?

What's stupid about paying him a salary based on the huge money he brings in?
