He has no backbone, no coherent policies (u-turns a dozen times a day)and no understanding of ordinary people's lives. Plus he wears all his clothes a size too small, which really irritates me.

And someone called me deluded for suggesting the Tories are now ultra right wing...

Snap... several times too, just for suggesting a better deal with the EU...

They seem devoid of argument.

I am probably the oldest one on here, never have I have known such an awful, uncaring, selfish, useless government!🤬

@Daz57 thinks the NHS is in fine shape and that Russell Brand is being victimised. I think that tells us dazza’s opinions on things.
Awaiting being told not to question certain voters intelligence for fear of putting them off voting labour

Think what you like. I have said that Russell Brand has not been proved guilty of anything yet. This is a cornerstone of our legal system and I hate the hyena style savaging of people in the press in this country.
I have worked for the NHS for 23 years and tend to ‘speak as I find’. Of course there are problems (I am not naive) but I think we are very lucky to have it.
My husband did get his hip replacement in 7 weeks and had very good treatment from the surgeons, nursing staff and physios. Maybe we were fortunate but that was our experience.
I hope I have expanded on my ‘opinion of things’ as you seem interested in them.

pointythings · 03/10/2023 12:57

@Daz57 if you believe in innocent til proven guilty (as I do), why do you believe Keir Starmer was guilty of breaking lockdown rules despite no such finding being made in two investigations? Asking for a friend.

Sorry but this is getting silly now.

countrygirl99 · 03/10/2023 13:10

Seems a perfectly valid question

Farage has said today that the Tories, are basically becoming UKIP and that GB News will help decide the next election. Also:

https://x.com/NicholasPegg/status/1709101246882132069?s=20

I hear that Rish! ducked a channel 4 interview to give one to GBNews.

Not sure if that's the right strategy to win an election. Not only to avoid reaching the people you need to convince to vote Tory. But to do so to a much smaller cadre of nutjobs who are even less likely to vote tory.

Speaks volumes as to his political "nous" as they say.

Makes Liz Truss look like Sun Tzu.

pointythings · 03/10/2023 13:26

What's silly about it, @Daz57 ? If innocent til proven guilty applies to Russell Brand, it applies to everyone. Even Keir Starmer. You can't have it both ways.

Daz57 · 03/10/2023 13:09

Sorry but this is getting silly now.

I quite agree, it is entirely silly to keep posting about someone who has been investigated and found to have no case to answer having broken the law, unless you have new evidence. And frankly if you do have new evidence it is silly to do anything other than give it to the police.

Lonelycrab · 03/10/2023 13:29

It’s a perfectly legitimate question. I think the fact you say it’s “silly” speaks volumes. On the one hand - innocent until proven guilty, except for when you yourself have decided to discard the facts and evidence and make your own judgement. Hmm

SueDonnym · 03/10/2023 13:39

Listening to the constant waffle on the news about HS2 - I think he will either continue it to Manchester OR not continue it to Manchester but have a list of improvements to rail in the area.

I think he'll put it to Manchester to make sure he has a chance of winning the election - and get all those northern seats.

I'm not sure it will make any difference to the Conservatives chances of winning the next election.

Absolutely. And Starmer said that if he were found guilty of breaking the law he would resign.

Yet Sunak allegedly is a decent man with integrity? Not that anyone except one poster with some weak whataboutery has been along to defend his behaviour or his record and show us where his decency and integrity is.

To be fair there were some decent Tory MPs with integrity before Johnson got rid of them.

Historically there have been plenty of excellent Tory MPs who are interested in their constituency and the country. Indeed on several occassions I have put my cross in their box as the best option to represent the constituency I live in.

I expect they like me do not recognise the current Tory party.

A few of them do still exist. Philip Dunne in Ludlow (soon to retire) being one example.

Notonthestairs · 03/10/2023 14:24

I thought Julian Smith was good as SoS for NI.

Grieve & Gauke in their roles also.

(appreciate the latter 2 weren't Brexity enough but they seemed sensible and measured)

There are others but those ones came to mind.

Yep you could disagree with them on policy but they didn't appear to be crooks.

I voted for the Tories in the 80s but todays 'party are a bunch of far right extremists, the tory Govt of the 80s/90s would never have taken the UK out of the EU & people like Johnson/Truss wouldn't have got to be PMs either.

Grieves was an excellent MP/Attorney General.

Consultants have never had to go on strike, most are natural Tory voters but even their party of choice has deserted them.

Good news 'polls are holding up.

This is merely a pisspoor shadow of the cult of Trump, where Trump=good, and anything anyone else does, even the exact same is "bad".

At which point you can safely move on. These people aren't worth engaging with. It's not a debate. They aren't listening.

My experience of the NHS is that they discharged my dad, who had dementia and Parkinson's at 3.00 am as they needed the bed. They put him in a regular taxi home. First we knew about it was a neighbour on his way home from his nightshift hammering on the door at 6.00 am having found my dad wandering around the estate.
