He has no backbone, no coherent policies (u-turns a dozen times a day)and no understanding of ordinary people's lives. Plus he wears all his clothes a size too small, which really irritates me.

@Lastchancechica can you explain how he will run our country with professional integrity given his political and parliamentary history, which I've detailed above?

StillGotBabyBrain · 01/10/2023 10:22

He's disgusting. He's corrupt and greedy, his willing to sacrifice humanity for profit, to throw around shit policies for votes and uses small boats as a smoke screen for the failings of the tories over the last 13 years, leaving our country on it's knees.

He should be in prison, like many of the Tories.

Look into all the deals that man has done and who benefits.

Who on 🌎 still wants to vote tory!

Clavinova · 01/10/2023 10:26

Crapsummer2023 · 01/10/2023 09:23

🤣. This is true. Her and ‘cut and paste’ Clav are putting in serious shifts. It’s a shame their libertarian paymasters don’t believe in giving staff sufficient time off. They must be exhausted.

That's funny, because if you were following the thread yesterday, you will see that I took a 4 hour break yesterday afternoon. I even posted that I'd been out for coffee and cake with dh. Just because you're having a miserable life (like your username) that doesn't mean everyone else is.

Lastchancechica · 01/10/2023 10:27

I don’t really want to be on a thread that has racist overtones thanks all the same.

If you are going to such lengths of reading all of my threads you will know I had covid 10 days ago 😂 and I am (all cheer at once) feeling a bit better !!

So yes fresh air here I come.

Labour didn’t even consider Abbott as a potential leader or pm as she is classified as cis and therefore just there for the photo ops.

Have you EVER seen a female Labour leader? Nope.

Have you EVER seen a person of mixed heritage becoming a labour leader? Nope.

Labour specialises in producing white, rich middle class old men to represent their working class, diverse party that can’t even understand the fundamentals - or that women do not have penises. That’s where we really are. The erasure of women and their rights is labours first priority. Seemingly only SOME, mainly men will have their rights protected with labour.
And yet they can’t see the rank hypocrisy in that…. It’s worrying.

Toodles

My first run in 10 days thanks for your concern 🙏🏻 It’s high stakes the next election. It will totally define our future, so yes it matters. And being so ill reminds me that we do have to protect our future - we have no idea what is ahead and we do that by having a bullet proof economy and capable leaders.

True, the Tories want lower taxes (or say they do) and hence even worse public services, as people like Sunak don't use them.

But they are affected by inheritance tax, so want that gone, at a cost of up to 15bn over the next decade, thats 15bn per year!!! who will pay that with longer waiting lists and lower public sector pay?

There is no country in the world that has low taxes and good public services, its just not possible.

But what the Tories have done is given us higher taxes and WORSE public services, quite an achievement.

From Laura Kuenssberg on how people see Sunak

To intensely dislike Rishi Sunak?
bombastix · 01/10/2023 10:31

@Lastchancechica - your logic is defective. In casting my vote, which one is more important?

Should voters be thinking that Sunak's heritage is key or is it what he does? Because to me it is the latter.

Lastchancechica · 01/10/2023 09:25

It’s so flattering that you imagine I am being paid for my glorious posts. Sadly I am not. But I will bank the compliment 😎

Glorious Confused

I'm humouring you because you have covid and it's clearly affected you more than you realise. Wink

bombastix · 01/10/2023 09:29

Conservative does not mean libertarian. That's the point I'm making.

Conservatives used to conserve. Where is that?

Their donors back pockets and bank accounts.

I am going to enjoy my Sunday and go for a run. I will say this for Sunak.

He is a thoroughly decent, polished man of modest beginnings. He was born in Southampton, his mum worked in a pharmacy and his dad was a doctor.

It was not a silver spoon existence, they were a hardworking Indian family. Naturally gifted at maths and an intelligent man his experience in London and his knowledge around economics is no doubt assisting our country right now.

Our economy is growing, we have thousands and thousand of jobs available. Inflation is coming down. Things are steadily improving after the twin shocks of the war and pandemic. This is not a small achievement given the dire global financial back drop. We are doing really well!

I find him calm, thoughtful and considered on and off the world stage. I am quietly proud of our mixed heritage PM and he provides inspiration for many millions of children in the U.k and beyond.

Given we live in such difficult times atm, I think he is doing a great job.

I am a swing voter.

You're on the wind up 😂😂😂😂😂😂

From Laura Kuenssberg on how people see Sunak

I watched the interview. He kept repeating “I don’t care if people disagree with me” and “I know what the British people want me to do”.

He really is an arrogant, nasty little man.

itsgettingweird · 01/10/2023 10:38

Anyone else stating to think chica is Sunaks wife 🤣🤣

DuncinToffee · 01/10/2023 10:38

This is for the 3.8 million lives that were ignored.

The freelancers and the self employed.

The Conference are trying every trick to have this taken down…so I’ve just deployed large digital vans as well, to keep circling the area.

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 10:43

I see you still haven't answered my question @Lastchancechica .

itsgettingweird · 01/10/2023 10:43

“I don’t care if people disagree with me” and “I know what the British people want me to do”.

Smacks of arrogance.

"I know what you all want more than you" which is shorthand for "your opinion doesn't count because I don't it's important enough".

Luckily the electorate get to decide for themselves at the GE if what sunak says we want is what we want.

For me it's a no.

I'll wait for the other party manifestos before deciding if any o them offer what I think the country needs.

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 10:45

Would anyone else who has respect for Sunak and considers him a decent man care to justify that in the light of his political record and parliamentary behaviour?

Katharinablumwasinnocent · 01/10/2023 10:52

You’re running 10 days after Covid. Must have been mild then.

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 10:54

My best wishes for your continued recovery, @Lastchancechica.

Perhaps you'll be able to answer my question when you return.

Clavinova · 01/10/2023 10:54

Pushkinini · 01/10/2023 09:47

@Lastchancechica It was polled on 27th/28th September so 4 days ago. Hardly out of date.

How can you tell which poll is more accurate?

Latest Opinium @ ObserverUK poll:

Fieldwork 27-29 September 2023

Labour lead down by 5 points to 10%.
• Labour: 39% (-2)
• Conservative: 29% (+3)
• Liberal Democrat: 12% (+1)
• SNP: 3% (nc)
• Plaid Cymru: 1% (nc)
• Green: 7% (nc)
• Reform UK: 7% (-1)
• Other: 2% (nc)

Katharinablumwasinnocent · 01/10/2023 10:58

@Clavinova and ? Is the UK doing well ? Are our public services functioning effectively ? The NHS, schools, criminal justice service, housing crisis and social care system. Are all those things providing an amazing service under a government of 13 years ? what happened to levelling up, HS2 Still waiting ? The fact that there’s a slight narrowing of the polls suggests that quite a few people have short memories and are easily bribed by ludicrous populist promises.
Really cannot be arsed arguing with these people. Clearly wind up merchants.

StillGotBabyBrain · 01/10/2023 11:18

itsgettingweird · 01/10/2023 10:38

Anyone else stating to think chica is Sunaks wife 🤣🤣

I doubt she has time, what with all the plotting to take more public tax money for herself and family through dodgy tory deals, I imagine it is quite time consuming! Plus all the calls to Shell.... and her childcare agencies, and bankrupting companies owing shit loads of tax. Plus, finding more time to creatively account so she pays next to nothing into our country.... cor blimey governor 😳

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 11:18

Absolute silence in terms of justifying Sunak's political and parliamentary behaviour then.

Clavinova · 01/10/2023 11:27

LizzieSiddal · 01/10/2023 09:58

@LastchancechicaHe is a thoroughly decent, polished man of modest beginnings. He was born in Southampton, his mum worked in a pharmacy and his dad was a doctor. It was not a silver spoon exsistence.

Oh dear, you don’t him very well at all

He went to Winchester College, one of the most prestigious and expensive schools in the country. And his mother was an actual Pharmacist (good for her) who owned the Chemist shop she worked in.

Edited

Sunak was one of the few dayboys at Winchester - I'm assuming his parents couldn't afford the boarding fees. There was a longstanding Mumsnetter with a son at Winchester College - I think she said her son received a substantial bursary on a household income of around £60,000. I wouldn't rule out that the Sunak's had received some sort of bursary/fee reduction at the time - they wouldn't let on now if they had - although of course, school fees have risen considerably since the 1990s.

Keir Starmer and his wife both attended private schools - Starmer's mother-in- law was a GP - just like Sunak's father.

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 11:31

Perhaps you can answer my question @Clavinova ?

Notonthestairs · 01/10/2023 11:31

Did Sunaks siblings not attend Winchester or private schools then?
