To intensely dislike Keir Starmer

1000 replies

LemonyTicket · 27/09/2023 00:42

I can't stand Tories.
The current Tories are the worst

But I still intensely dislike Keir Starmer and will probably vote Green.

I find him phony, with no vision, like a terrible 6th form prefect. And to be honest his whole front bench are dreadful. Wes Streeting nauseates me.

Is it just me?

Or that son of a lady's maid Edward Heath. He did try to keep that quiet though-he was a crashing snob!

BIossomtoes · 27/09/2023 13:18

Wilson’s dad was a chemist - oh, just like our current multi millionaire PM.

Yes there is, some posters bang on about it at every opportunity on any political thread, its all they ve got to try and defend Tory failures to protect womens rights.
ALL the instances of men taking part in female sport have occurred under the Tories.

Fortunately, polling shows that the general public are not fooled by this nonsense, it really is a minority issue by those who are well off.

https://yougov.co.uk/topics/society/trackers/the-most-important-issues-facing-the-country?crossBreak=female

And some bang on like TRAs on threads 🤷‍♂️

You do you. Don’t complain when you lose more rights

helford · 27/09/2023 13:28

Nope, i, like 99% of the electorate have more immediate concerns, i also judge the Tories on their record not what they say plus their record is appalling.

Can you list 3 things they ve done to enhance female rights?

Considering the number of female MPs Labour have, i doubt very much we will lose rights under a Labour Govt, i certainly gained plenty under Blair.

Now i can't even get dental treatment.

oh and reduced life expectancy whilst rising the State pension age and they want it higher still.

TBF @helford women's rights doesn't even appear in the list people were asked to choose from in that survey.

You are deluded if you think Labour are going to be voted in and your life will be magically transformed - the only thing that is guaranteed is a hike in your tax bill.

I feel some peoples disappointment is going to be insurmountable when they realise as a country we can’t afford to bank roll everything! The same people oddly want no border control either. Money tree politics.

How can that polling show that when it isn't even an option?

@BIossomtoes "Wilson’s dad was a chemist - oh, just like our current multi millionaire PM."

I'm assuming this is a joke? Before I make myself look like an idiot by replying seriously!

Are you really saying an ‘ordinary’ person can’t like classical music?

No - I'm quite clearly saying that attending the Guildhall School of Music as a 'young scholar' is not "a very ordinary upbringing."

IspendallmymoneyonEtsy
Reigate Grammar was a state school when he got in, became independent during his time there. I’d imagine that there was probably an agreement where existing pupils stayed on without having to pay fees until they finished their education

Surrey County Council only agreed to pay up to age 16 - unfortunately Keir Starmer "can't recall" how his sixth form place was funded.

Starmer is a multi millionaire and privately educated. There is nothing remotely working class about him. I can’t believe his supporters genuinely do not see the hypocrisy. He has a credibility issue.

I agree @Lastchancechica

From my experience of 35+ years voting general elections change nothing very quickly. You just have to vote for who most aligns with your beliefs which can be really hard if you're an average non-foaming at the mouth partisan type.

IMO there a lot of same cheeks different arse in politics 😂

No he wasn’t. He went to grammar school. His mum was a nurse and his dad a tool maker.

Thats not true is it, the school became a fee paying school.

Wiki on sixth form fees below.

I know plenty of people, myself included, who have bettered themselves through education, getting on with people and hard work.

It became a private school after he started there. Can’t really hold that against him can you.

So you can't name 3 things the Conservatives have done to enhance women's rights then?

Blueatripedotter · 27/09/2023 13:50

I’m aghast that Kier isn’t from a working class background, even though he kind of is. Instead I’m going to vote in Rishi, who is a real man of the people and working class hero.

I know 2 people who went to an equivalent music school - one a school friend who got a scholarship to the Royal Northern College of Music (he's now big in classical music) and another, a relative who attended the Royal college of Music.

Both of them had average upbringings, no private schooling to get them in, both worked very very hard to get there. Both from what these days is classed as a deprived area of the country.

ManAboutTown · 27/09/2023 13:52

Starmer is a total effing woodentop who will do and say anything to get into No 10. His shadow cabinet are a bunch of thick grievance merchants. Who would want a racist melon like Lammy as foreign secretary

The Tories are no better - shameless spivs like Hunt, Shapps, and Hands are propping up a PM who has not been voted in by anyone

I could start on people like Drakeford, Youssuf, Sturgeon and Davey but I'd probably get banned from the site

LemonyTicket · 27/09/2023 13:52

@Lastchancechica

I feel some peoples disappointment is going to be insurmountable when they realise as a country we can’t afford to bank roll everything!

Interesting.

Questions:

Why could we afford to "bankroll" dentistry for the first 30 years of my life and not now?

Why is my tax the same (or more) but I now get less for it?

Why are we all paying the same taxes and cut a trillion pounds in austerity and I still can't see a dentist.

People are so daft. Public spending isn't "bank rolling". Its using taxation to pay for essential public services. They're just shit at it.

I first came across Keir Starmer when he was DPP. His views and opions were incredibly reasonable and well thought out. I don't necessarliy think he's the best leader that there is but he's a decent man. I hate the Tories so much that I'd rather a decent man tbh. Tories are vile.

A decent man knows the difference between a man and a woman. Keir does not.

dressedforcomfort · 27/09/2023 13:53

Starmer's between a rock and a hard place. His party can't win unless he unifies all the potential labour voters, but there's a huge political divide between different supporter groups within labour. The blue-collar union vote looks very different to the left-wing academic vote. I think that need to try and appeal to everyone is behind some of his vague flip-flopping. And I'll admit his stance over TWAW troubles me.

That said, I would still trust him over pretty much anyone who has been in the Tory cabinet these past 15 years. He record as a lawyer and Director of Public Prosecutions shows him to be a man of integrity and principle. I believe he cares more about the NHS, about adult social care, child poverty etc than any Tory.

If Wiki knows the answer, how come Keir Starmer said he "can't recall" how his sixth form fees were funded? Did his parents pay part fees or none at all?

Daphnis156 · 27/09/2023 13:56

Starmer is like stuffed dummy.
Also he cannot accept the departure from the EU.
