What with his random shite this week about scrapping a non-existent meat tax and an imaginary 7 bins, actually scrapping his own home insulation workforce that was only set up a few months ago, scrapping any useful bits of HS2 and now scrapping A-levels (which is so far removed from what is actually possible in schools right now that it's not even funny), what the fuck is he on?

He's just flailing around madly scrapping everything in case someone, somewhere might vote Tory over it.

And he was supposed to be the sensible replacement to Liz Truss.

@Alexandra2001
You haven't read my post properly Confused
My fear is a hung parliament and a coalition with the nutters.

Don't we already have a coalition of the nutters?

bombastix · 25/09/2023 17:45

That's not fair as Nadine Dorries and BoJo resigned

Mountaineer0009 · 25/09/2023 17:54

jgw1 · 25/09/2023 07:04

If that were the case surely he would have attended the UN GA rather than hiding in seven bins?

politician's, operate in mysterious ways

My fear is a hung parliament and a coalition with the nutters.

Sorry what? There is a potential coalition out there with worse people in ministerial positions than we've had.

WTF does that look like? Is someone expecting Russel Brand, James Corden and Katie Hopkins to be MPs at the next election?

L1ttledrummergirl · 25/09/2023 17:59

I think that Sunak is doing his job amazingly.

He has been given a platform to speak to world leaders and raise the profile of his in laws company.

Everything he has introduced, or tried to introduce, particularly regarding technology has been to the benefit of this company. Even when he meddled in childcare, it was so that his wife's investments in a childcare company would benefit.

He is all about personal gain, and control. The countries best interests don't even appear on his horizon. He was promoted above his leadership abilities due to the sycophantic nature of the conservatives, and has been a perfect monkeys paw.

His insincerity comes over in spades. His job has not been to act in this countries best interests, but in the interests of those pulling his strings.

The Lib Dems seem hopeful that they will have an input...God forbid.

My Dad is hopeful he'll be spontaneously made England manager. I think he's being more realistic.

"Worried about a coalition"

You mean more worried than you would be by a continuation of this shitshow? Talking of coalitions, remember when the Tories gave the DUP a billion pounds because Theresa May pissed her majority away?

I mean, surely anything that people can say that they're worried about possibly happening if the Tories lose can be lobbed back with something far worse that the Tories actually did?

Is Rory Stewart going to come back? He's the only person i think will save the Conservative Party. I can see it splitting up into one far right and one moderate.

bombastix · 25/09/2023 18:24

Rory is a good egg but I don't think you will see him back.

The sort of conservatism he represented is absolutely gone. Smashed by Brexit along with a lot of other good people.

It was sad to see.

Neither the MPs nor the Tory party members wanted him as leader. He came second! It was only because of a back room fiddle that he became MP. Had there been a second leadership election, he'd have come second again, because those who voted for Truss would have voted for someone else. Presumably he bribed/bought his way into power. I can't understand why Tory MPs and Tory party members have put up with it!

“He has an impossible task.”

Which he has nothing to do with?

Eh?

Your post reads as though poor Rishi has unknowingly stumbled into a terrible mess, the cause of which he had nothing to do with. His policies as minister in previous administrations, along with his sycophancy towards and vociferous support of two appalling PMs for as long as that suited his purpose was a contributory factor to this “impossible task”. You can acknowledge that, surely?

No. Because you can only come to that conclusion by freestyling quite significantly. You could've just asked instead if it wasn't clear!

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/09/2023 14:50

Ok. I may have misunderstood your meaning. I shall just ask.

What did you mean by he has an impossible task?

Do you believe he contributed significantly to the current mess?
