What with his random shite this week about scrapping a non-existent meat tax and an imaginary 7 bins, actually scrapping his own home insulation workforce that was only set up a few months ago, scrapping any useful bits of HS2 and now scrapping A-levels (which is so far removed from what is actually possible in schools right now that it's not even funny), what the fuck is he on?

He's just flailing around madly scrapping everything in case someone, somewhere might vote Tory over it.

And he was supposed to be the sensible replacement to Liz Truss.

Nope, there were provisions within the law to allow collection of some of those waste streams together, there was no definite requirement for it to be done in 7 bins.

@jgw1
I only hope you're right about a good majority. A hung parliament would be a disaster.

Why? Governments all over Europe operate that way all the time.

Power. He’s a sociopath

seriously, why do people usually presume its always about power ?

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 24/09/2023 21:57

Because a good proportion of CEOs and MPs are sociopaths

determinedtomakethiswork · 24/09/2023 22:09

They have all lost it in the Tory party. They lost it years and years and years ago.

What else would it be about? It’s certainly not about money - he’s rich as Croesus.

status, shaping the future of humanity, being part of the Bilderberg meetings etc ?

status, shaping the future of humanity, being part of the Bilderberg meetings etc ?

If that were the case surely he would have attended the UN GA rather than hiding in seven bins?

VimtoVimto · 25/09/2023 08:26

If it was about status and shaping the future of humanity he could have set up a charitable foundation.

bombastix · 25/09/2023 08:31

It's a status thing. He is completely disconnected from reality. Like a special bauble.

He has no skin in the game except ego. He doesn't care and it's a good example of why very rich people should not be PM. If he fails and he is, there is little real consequence.

Oblomov23 · 25/09/2023 09:13

Is it the tea or the chocolate biscuit that causes this? It's all frightening, irritating. Every single one of them playing their 'game' leaves us in a worse mess than we were before. I just can't see this ever stopping. How? They lose? But who comes in? No other options are any better. And that thought is seriously bad.

What about all the poor sods who commute by local train and face constant delays due to sharing the track with west coast mainline. It would have been good for them.

Local trains will never be able to improve their service when there is no extra capacity.

The UK doesn't need HS rail, as we are a small country, we could have built a normal rail line for far less money.

Goodornot · 25/09/2023 09:23

I'm also seeing plenty of cost of living crisis posts daily here.

Enjoy all the tax hikes with labour as Starmer is going to hammer the middle classes and he thinks women can have a penis.

Ilmecourtsurleharicot · 25/09/2023 09:59

And he's scrapped measures for climate change. Measures the U.K. were taking that he's used as a defence for the U.K. in an upcoming ECHR case. So he's scrapped our defence 🤦🏼‍♀️

Itsgettingwierd that’s shocking, so once again- if any further evidence was needed- we can tell this is high level Tory political spin bullshit to win votes. They’re trying to start another culture war. They’re using lies and scaremongering to win votes. It’s corrupt and incompetent- one hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing now.

I am so, so beyond disgusted that anyone could play at voter manipulation to benefit themselves over the terrifying climate crisis and catastrophic biodiversity loss etc. As PP are saying this is literally the most important issue of our time. We can’t survive not addressing it.

I'm not so sure about this - Johnson's (and Truss's) mess is still so omnipresent in the media and popular mind that I think he'll somehow escape the failure spotlight

He is going to be the one leading them into spectacular electoral wipe-out so I think that will register.

I heard him being grilled on Today about the 7 bins and sounding like a complete idiot, the scrapping of HS2 good bits has also been widely ridiculed so I don't think his fuck-ups are going completely unnoticed.

The green target thing too as the British public are generally in favour of having a planet to leave to their kids. (I notice now Rishi is also looking at scrapping inheritance tax to make sure that his kids will be able to buy their way out of whatever catastrophes there are to come).

I honestly think that the Tories could still win the next election. I sincerely hope I'm wrong though.

The anti-woke stance that he is taking is quite powerful.

Ilmecourtsurleharicot · 25/09/2023 10:03

I support anyone campaigning against womens rights being spaffed up the wall to try satisfy the ever-moving goalposts of a tiny group of entitled men who want to get up close right next to women and girls in our toilets and changing rooms.
The Tories have done absolutely nothing to stop this, it is all on their watch. No major party has got good policy on this issue. All of them are mysteriously terrified to challenge male entitlement.

localnotail · 24/09/2023 19:46

So, according to some posters, this "woman with penis" thing is the only big issue this country is facing at the moment?!!! SERIOUSLY????

Also, let me please remind you that whatever questionable gender identity policies you are objecting to have been developed UNDER THE TORY RULE. They have been in power for the last 13 years. How this seem to escape all the anti-woke crusaders I don't know.

As an old feminist, I don't understand that POV at all.

localnotail · 25/09/2023 10:30

@madamreign no one says its not important, but if you think this is the most serious issue this country is facing at the moment then I must say you lead a very priveleged and charmed life. I don't understand how anyone can decide which party to support based on single issue, ignoring everything else that's been fucked up (economy, education, healthcare, ecology etc).

no, freelancers (if you mean sole traders) were not excluded. Limited companies were. As a single person limited company with no premises I was left high and dry Just one of the reasons I hate the odious little shitehawk

Around 2 million were excluded because of the 50:50 rule (no such exclusion for furlough), because their income was over £50k (no such exclusion for furlough) or because their self employment only started the year before covid (no such exclusion for furlough). Limited company directors who paid themselves through payroll weren't excluded!

Even more so that HS2 doesn't actually link with HS1 so no direct trains from Birmingham or the North to Europe!

Local trains will never be able to improve their service when there is no extra capacity.

Only a tiny minority of people actually living in the vicinity of HS2. No use whatsoever for those living, say, in Northern England, who have a virtually useless train system, old trains, constant cancellations, delays, etc., around Leeds/Manchester/Liverpool/York. A hundred billion pounds could have improved railways in all areas, not just between Birmingham and London. It just shows the London Centric mentality when people only think of commuters/shoppers to/from London!

err who has given us the cost of living crisis? the Tories... inflation and interest rates way higher than our main EU competitors (before you mention Hungary) Energy costs among the highest in Europe too.

& who has given us 7.8m on nhs waiting lists, crumbling schools and hospitals, a road network that is also falling to bits AND the highest tax burden for 75 years...

oh but Labour!!!! FFS.

noblegiraffe · 25/09/2023 10:56

“Oh but Labour might raise taxes and shaft the middle classes” is indeed a bizarre defence when the Tories brought in Liz Truss to raise everybody’s mortgage.

At least any raising of taxes might have a hope of, I dunno, increasing your chances of seeing a doctor or decreasing your chances of your kids’ school falling on their head. All Liz Truss did was fuck homeowners for no benefit to anyone.

MidnightOnceMore · 25/09/2023 11:12

The middle classes were better off under the last Labour government, we all were.

The Tories have caused low growth, have deliberately underfunded services resulting in increased costs (because prevention is cheaper than cure) for both the state and individuals. Wages have been stagnant for over ten years.
