Rishi has absolutely lost it, hasn't he?

What with his random shite this week about scrapping a non-existent meat tax and an imaginary 7 bins, actually scrapping his own home insulation workforce that was only set up a few months ago, scrapping any useful bits of HS2 and now scrapping A-levels (which is so far removed from what is actually possible in schools right now that it's not even funny), what the fuck is he on?

He's just flailing around madly scrapping everything in case someone, somewhere might vote Tory over it.

And he was supposed to be the sensible replacement to Liz Truss.

That's really unfair. I've just remarked on his excellence. That's at least TWO favourable mentions

Does Rishi have members of his cabinet being photographed with supporters of Hamas.

Let's all check.

Whilst we're at it let's see if members of the shadow cabinet have done this.

Probably not. Starmer is such a fantastic PM in waiting - never flip flops, deputy chancellor right on the ball with the importance of inflation, knows what a woman is - he'd have to be a total incompetent to allow it.

Let's all vote for him.

Are you refering to Rishi spending time with his inlaws, who continue to trade in Russia. Russia being linked to Iran and Hamas?

Yes that's very true.

But there are nearly 500 posts on the thread.

Wish someone would start a thread where we could all list Mr. Starmer's great qualities.

Wonder how many posts that would have?

bombastix · 09/10/2023 23:21

We could have the Rishi Sunak is excellent thread and see how that goes.

I understand that any poster on here is free to start a thread, would you like me to explain how?

Hurrydash · 09/10/2023 23:25

Knows what a woman is

Supports Ukraine

Getting inflation down

Reducing net zero burden costs on the poorest

Supporting Israel in fight against terrorism

And on and on....

God knows if anyone would find anything good to say.

All the points above shouldn't matter to right thinking people,

bombastix · 09/10/2023 23:27

Bah. I agree with many of those but it wouldn't make me vote for Rishi. I'm not sure he's done them

Considering I've been inviting people for a week to provide evidence of his decency, honesty and integrity but had no takers, I can't see it going very well... 🙄

bombastix · 09/10/2023 23:37

Well I was called a racist or similar for demanding actual achievements in public policy but I live in hope of the latter @ilovesooty

Great we're in agreement on some of these achievements.

Totally buy in to the idea they're not down to Risjhi,

Probably just thanks to the country's leader.

Forgot who that is for the moment.

bombastix · 09/10/2023 23:44

Oh come on! Anyone could make that list. It's a tissue of issues, three words for the hard of thinking

It doesn't matter how good Sunak is. People have stopped listening to him. That is how governments lose elections.

Hurrydash · 09/10/2023 23:47

bombastix · 09/10/2023 23:21

Bad idea.

Might undermine the awe in which the leader of the opposition is held.

Unerring judgement.

Told us at the last GE Corbyn was the right man for the job.

Oh how we should have listened.

Not sure why he's now expelled JC from the PLP but I'm sure that can't be a flip flop.

He so doesn't do that as we've learnt on this thread.

ilovesooty · 09/10/2023 23:47

Well since you seem to be a fan @Hurrydash ,perhaps you'd like to defend his political record and parliamentary behaviour, and provide evidence of his decency, honesty and integrity?

bombastix · 09/10/2023 23:51

I'm sorry but Sunak is more over than a boy band at 40.

Rachel Reeves, not exactly the most charismatic person alive, had a speech today that was standing room only and got endorsed by Mark Carney.

Rishi Sunak needs something like that every week until the next election to have a chance

L1ttledrummergirl · 09/10/2023 23:58

@jgw1 you're slipping. It seems you have a contender for your satirical crown in @Hurrydash.

I can't believe anyone actually believes that shit.

Agreed.

Rachel Reeves did a great job of addressing the single biggest challenge to the UK economy right now.

Inflation,

Really impressed by the detail she gave on how she would address it

Anyone not know? Read her speech.

Not sure who you think I'm a fan of but satire aside I'n absolutely no fan of either Sunak or Starmer.

If even half the criticism on this thread of Sunak is true then clearly he's a rubbish PM,

All I'm trying to say is let's not all jump on board the let's all vote Labour because they're not Tories bandwagon.

God knows this country is in a right mess and I have no idea what we should do, let alone how we should vote.

But just rubbishing one party or leader to garner votes for the other side doesn't seem to me to be the best or most constructive way forward.

Sunak's maths is up to scratch as usual
Sunak’s “Plan For Drivers” claimed that 42% of all parking fines are successfully appealed
the actual figure? 0.24%

Sunak isn't even mentioned in the FT extract you've linked to. The article quite clearly states that the error was spotted in a document produced by the Department for Transport. It wasn't really a maths error either - more a typo;

After the Financial Times pointed out the error, the transport department on Friday changed the document to make clear that 42.8% per cent of drivers who appealed were successful.

If Labour win the next election they will inherit the same sloppy civil servants - who were probably educated in the Blair years, vote Liberal Democrat and 'work from home'. Grin

But the civil servants won't be working for another incompetent who lets them get away with it.

Middle ranking and senior civil servants in place now were educated in the Thatcher years.

Rishi Sunak played a pivotal role in the UK government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He introduced various economic support measures to help businesses and individuals affected by lockdowns and restrictions. His swift and substantial financial support, including the furlough scheme, was seen as a crucial lifeline during the crisis.

Furlough and other business support measures weren't his initiative, they were in the pandemic planning already in existence. Witness the fact that it essentially mirrored what other countries were doing.

However, he gets personal credit for Eat Out to spread covid.

DuncinToffee · 10/10/2023 08:32

He also get credit for writing off Covid Fraud

Rachel Reeves announced that Labour will appoint a Covid Corruption Commissioner to recover billions lost to waste and fraud.

And talking about her speech, Jeremy Hunt got community noted on Twitter when claiming she didn't mention fraud

The Shadow Chancellor did not use the word inflation but explicitly mentioned rising prices (i.e. inflation) in the form of energy, food and mortgages.

So are you saying that Sunak just reads out what "liberal democrat voting Blair educated sloppy wfh civil servants' put in front of him wihout questions or checks?

The pot plants must be thriving

I agree but this has been politics in the UK for at least 30+ years. It's a sad state of affairs but pretty much all our parties only seem to aim to be the least shit of a bad bunch. I cannot recall an election campaign from any of them in my adult lifetime that wasn't based around that.

Rishi has absolutely lost it, hasn't he?
