What with his random shite this week about scrapping a non-existent meat tax and an imaginary 7 bins, actually scrapping his own home insulation workforce that was only set up a few months ago, scrapping any useful bits of HS2 and now scrapping A-levels (which is so far removed from what is actually possible in schools right now that it's not even funny), what the fuck is he on?

He's just flailing around madly scrapping everything in case someone, somewhere might vote Tory over it.

And he was supposed to be the sensible replacement to Liz Truss.

so as soon as any boats entered uk waters as an example and the boats or purpose is not legal, could the coastguard then turn them around and escort them back to their country of origin ?

I think you are suggesting that the coastguard turn around other coastguard boats that are turning around boats, since turning around boats at sea is illegal, and then who would turn around the 2nd coastguard boat, a third one, who woudl turn that one around?

So many questions.

Freshstart78 · 05/10/2023 21:25

They need to do hs2. They have spent so much money! I know it’s sunk cost fallacy but the entire point of the project was to connect the north. We didn’t need to spend that much money to shave 20 mins of a Birmingham journey!

All the way back to Syria, Afghanistan or Iran?

it is not illegal to claim asylum

I think @DuncinToffee you have misunderstood the problem. The question is what to do with illegal boats - for example boats that cause a hazard to others at sea, or those not displaying the appropriate lights at night.

jgw1 · 05/10/2023 20:58

That is part of the strategy to reduce sea level rises.
Also if you part the sea, migrants can't cross on boats.

Did you actually part the sea again or just announce an already existing parting like the Metrolink to Manchester Airport?

Yes let's all be polite. Let's not mention anything awkward or bad in case it makes right wingers feel attacked🙄
Why are you righties always morally bankrupt?

Embarrassing that there is a ditty about Britain ruling the waves, really. Although I imagine some tosspot Tories will be along to tell us that we've been misunderstanding the song the whole song, and it really goes "Rule, Britannia ! Britannia waives the rules"

He seems to have forgotten he is not the president. All these references to “l have decided” etc. ln the UK we are supposed to have Cabinet Government, not a one man show!

Not much noise yet about the Labour win in Rutherglen and the total collapse of the Tory vote.

Labour won Rutherglen and Hamilton in 2010 and 2017 - but not the outcome they wanted overall.

The Labour Party - quite obvious from my post.

Are you appearing on the news quiz or something ? What with your jokes and all.

Funny how the Tories holding on to Uxbridge with less than 500 votes was a major win

Whereforartthoudave · 06/10/2023 10:14

I don’t understand why they find it so hard to understand what we care about. 7% of kids are privately educated - 93% are in state schools.
yet he’s more concerned about telling that 7 % he protect them from losing charity status and paying VAT than he is about re-assuring the 93% of us that they’ll stop school buildings from crumbling and rotting.

The Tories have been manoeuvred into having to expend resources into chasing their core vote. It's incredibly inefficient and would only be possible in a landscape where their media water runs downhill.

The legacy of Farage - who is as welcome in the Tory party as a fart in a spacesuit - is to force them to recapture their right wing supporters who were never going to vote Labour anyway. And that means they can't appeal to the "mondeo man" they need to win.

Our FPTP not only distorts, it disrupts representation. And over time people learn it's quirks and work with them.

The Labour party didnt want a massive swing to them, at the expense of the SNP and Tory parties?

You are going to have to explain how you worked that out.

They clearly didn't want to come second in the general elections of 2010 and 2017 - which they did, despite the "seismic" wins of Rutherglen and Hamilton on those occasions.
