It's not half as salacious, possibly a bit dry and dull to most people.

But it's fucking constitutional dynamite

Given the state of the world and the calibre of our 'elites', I find it incredible that anyone can believe in complex, multi-faceted conspiracies. How about facing up to the sexism, class inequality and racism that underpin our dysfunctional society instead?

Lastchancechica · 19/09/2023 10:01

Sadly for you we don’t have tons of moronic flat earthers from either side of the political spectrum on MN. Most of us just care about the women and children at the centre of this. We want the predators brought to justice.

madamreign · 19/09/2023 10:01

@whatwasthatgrandma

Corruption doesn't bother you then?

It's why the Met is a mess, it's why rape convictions have fallen.

That would too difficult of course. Much easier to bang on about lizards 🦎

I believe we are still waiting on your compassion and understanding of the victims op. It’s almost like you don’t care…

No you don't.

If you did you'd want a properly functioning State that could bring the perpetrators of sexual abuse and rape to justice.

You don't, you just want to rant about one celebrity.

This amount of media coverage may make any criminal trial that may result, less likely to succeed.

How are you going to insult me next?

So we get to it. At last.

It is just a ‘rant’ about a celebrity?

There we have it people. Say no more.

I agree. RB has been vocal of late on his YouTube channel about cluster bombs and the west's influence in the war in Ukraine. It absolutely feels like a stitch up. I don't automatically believe a documentary full of actors stating allegations. I also feel it is impossible for him to get a fair trial now, should it proceed to court.

ex Big Brother presenter has opinions on the war in Ukraine. So obviously such a towering figure must be brought down by the establishment.

Take good care of those two braincells of yours.

Exposed now.

As what?

Actually wanting the problems in the gov solved?

I could weep and wail, tear my hair and cover myself in ashes in sympathy with Brands victims, but it won't bring him or any one else to justice.

Men who rape should be behind bars. Not on the tele.

You've just pointed out why this had to be a story in the media. Why isn't this being dealt with in court? Because to do that it needs to go through the police. 1000 of whom are currently unde investigation following a police drive to root out sexual predators. Should the victims have waited until the entire Met was not corrupt, then complained and then hoped Brand was dealt with correctly, or should they have forced the issue after years of being dismissed and spoken to the press, potentially fast tracking investigations by media organisations and encouraging others to come forward? By saying you want this buried under a minor revelation about something we already know you are minimising the importance of the Brand investigation and saying a minor revelation from the civil service should be used to cover up for Brand. A far bigger story.

You could weep and wail and tear out your hair for the victims…?

How about you just give credit to the bravery of the victims coming forward and the work of the investigative journalists and wait for the arrest of
Brand?

Fuck my life OP, you’ve said yourself the chances of rapists being behind bars are slim to none and it’s clear as fucking day in the statistics. So can we at least have it on the telly? It helps to reinforce the social norm even when men do rape with impunity.

It’s not that well planned, but someone is taking the opportunity to release that story that’s for sure. Every thing about BJ was constitutional cyanamide though, and Joe average doesn’t seem to give a shit about undermining the constitution.

I do think theres a point here.

The conspiracy theorist will stay The Times & C4 timed things to bury other stories.

But the reality is that press offices make a point of releasing 'bad news stories' on busy news days. Its standard practice.

Tbh, in terms of constitionality and the concept of liberal democracy, whilst its an important story, I DO think the Brand story is more important because of its scope and how it has this theme of the failures of the legal system and institutionalised sexism at public broadcasters.

A lot of the chaos of the Johnson administration and disregard for proper process, is already known about. Im not sure there is a massive revelation here tbh.

There has been a period of 6 years of rumours about 'asking the Queen' various things. And thats been driven by the lack of respect for Constitutional process not because the Queen was somehow running the country behind the scenes.

Don’t be ridiculous, a trial will not fail because Brand had finally been publicly exposed. It might even be more likely to succeed, like in the case of Epstein, Ghislaine and all the others you’re conveniently ignoring.

whatwasthatgrandma · 19/09/2023 09:58

Oh please. Conspiracy theory bollocks.

The massive hole in your daft theory being look, here we are talking about it, its not even vaguely buried , its in the news. The other massive hole being who actually gives a fuck who talked about maybe saying something to someone now dead about someone now retired? Pretty much no-one.

Honestly, how ridiculous. And seriously offensive to the women involved in the RB "story".

Both stories have merit and are important. In different ways. There’s no need to discredit one to elevate the other.

anyway, the planets burning so both are irrelevant compared to our impending extinction.

….. or people can have more that one priority. Plurals were invented for the purpose.

On this thread I have seen Laura Kuenssberg accused of both being a Tory AND of pushing out propaganda for the Labour party. If she's pissing off both sides then I'd say she is right on the money.
