To think the amazon delivery man was being unreasonable

I didn't want to answer the door for a delivery, I was cooking lunch. It was a multipack of toothpaste through amazon, less than £10, so not expensive. Rather than just leaving it at the front door, the delivery man went around the back where he could see me cooking 😐

No, you were being unreasonable by not answering the door when you were expecting a delivery.

Giant Weirdo

😂Love that.

Haha I love that too.

If OP was embarrassed, that's on them to do better next time and answer their door 😂 thats not the delivery persons fault.

Yesterday I was cleaning my teeth and heard the delivery person from the bathroom window out the back, leaving the parcel at the back door. I ran downstairs with my toothbrush in my mouth to say thanks, and we gave each other a nice thumbs up. Just answer your door or expect them to leave it in a safe place 😊 they don't know what's in the parcel.

FirstYouGetTheMoney · 13/09/2023 11:08

It’s two floors up from our kitchen to the front door, so is a slight pain sometimes.

Fortunately our delivery woman looks and dresses like Allison Stokke does when competing so my DH is always happy to go.

Turtletumy · 13/09/2023 11:26

My God, hangings too good for him.
He should have left it by the servants entrance.
They’ll want paying next.

JudgeRudy · 13/09/2023 11:33

I'll assume leaving it on your doorstep would not be safe. Walking round the back sounds reasonable. I think you are letting your embarassment cloud your judgement.

Thedogscollar · 13/09/2023 11:43

@sparkleshin if this is for real then you must be one bloody pain in the arse to deal with on any level.

Ffion21 · 13/09/2023 11:51

Half the original post must be missing because this is great….? Ensuring the package wasn’t left front door step to be stolen…

Zodfa · 13/09/2023 11:52

I assume drivers are not told the value of individual parcels, that would be a good way to encourage theft.

As far as he knew it could have been something small, light and very expensive!

Ffion21 · 13/09/2023 11:52

You’re being so ridiculous. The Amazon driver was being helpful.

Deathbyfluffy · 13/09/2023 11:54

Chowtime · 12/09/2023 16:26

None of your business.

Stupidity is the answer, if someone can just walk into your home!

1mabon · 13/09/2023 11:55

Well lucky old you. I've had parcels which were purported to have been left at my front door disappear, with no photograph taken by the Evri delivery person when I have been at home, do not ring the bell or knock on the door I live on an exposed site with large gardens all around my home so anyone unscrupulous can take any parcel, so just be grateful the Evri person made an effort to deliver it directly to your hand.

Deathbyfluffy · 13/09/2023 11:55

sparkleshin · 12/09/2023 22:35

I wasn't complaining because of the length of time it would have taken to open the door or because I thought the kitchen would set on fire after leaving the pan for 10 seconds, it was simply because I had ignored the door because I didn't want to answer the door, which I thought was obvious by my OP but I guess not, and the rudeness of going round the back and unlocking the gate and seeing me in my kitchen, when they usually just leave it on the front step. And it was the embarrassment of them knowing I knew they'd caught me ignoring them. And if it was expensive, they would have wanted a passcode.

Maybe they were looking for a safe place to leave it?
Customers like you are why being a courier was one of the most miserable of my previous career moves - constantly dealing with people who projected their own failures onto someone trying to do their job to the best of their ability.

Someone seeing you cooking isn't stressful, get a grip.

This again?

LuckySantangelo35 · 13/09/2023 12:18

Why were you cooking lunch? What’s up with a sandwich or whatever? Most people don’t have time to cook lunch

mytitshaveshrunk · 13/09/2023 12:39

Lesson learned then OP. Next time just answer the fucking door, like any normal person would. Jeez, some people are really fucking weird 🤪

Gjendefloooo · 13/09/2023 13:03

Have you allocated a safe space?
Because they can't just leave stuff lying around any old place without permission.
Which means they either have to deliver it to you, leave it with a neighbour or take it back?
Maybe he realized you were in and thought you hadn't heard.

I think YABU to order toothpaste from Amazon and then not answer the door when it is delivered. You'd be going mad if he'd left the toothpaste on the door step without permission and someone stole it.

If you are going to order online then you need to have arrangements in place for its delivery - actually be in and answer the door; have it delivered to a locker; allocate a safe space for it etc.

J578 · 13/09/2023 13:05

How would he of known if he went round the back he would of seen you cooking?

Sennelier1 · 13/09/2023 13:19

Oh come on! You didn't want to open the door, but what about next time? Maybe when the delivery guy leaves something on the front step or takes your package back with him so you have to go and collect it yourself you'll be complaining he's lazy! How terrible can it be he saw you in your kitchen? Were you naked? Try and live with the fact that if and when you order something the moment will come a delivery person will ring your bell 🤷🏼‍♀️

Beautiful3 · 13/09/2023 14:34

You knew you had a delivery, but decided not to answer the door?! He didn't know if the parcel was high or low value, his job is to deliver it to you. You are being unreasonable.

gloriawasright · 13/09/2023 14:40

Bigminnie1 · 12/09/2023 18:40

@Chowtime you basically said you were so pissed off with the delivery person for walking into your house that you could've punched them. If you don't want someone walking into your house, you lock your door.

@Chowtime
Jeez I'm not sure why your response has ruffled a few feathers.
Even if a door is left wide open it's not an invitation to walk in. You knock and if someone comes to the door or shouts out that they can just come in.
If my door is unlocked and you just walk in ,delivery driver or not .I will tear strips off you .

Christ on a 3 wheeler bike how do some people on here actually deal with everyday life 🙄

Clearly they don't- they come on here to ask for advice!

Missedmytoe · 13/09/2023 14:45

Is your AIBU really about the fact that he opened your gate and let himself around to the back of the house?

That info was missing from the original post.

Overall though, I think YABU - he has an obligation to deliver something. Unless you have specified a safe place to leave the delivery, or said it is okay to leave on the front doorstep, he's just doing his job.

HobbyHorse30 · 13/09/2023 14:52

He saw you cooking?! How will you ever recover? 🙄
