To think the amazon delivery man was being unreasonable

sparkleshin · 12/09/2023 16:00

I didn't want to answer the door for a delivery, I was cooking lunch. It was a multipack of toothpaste through amazon, less than £10, so not expensive. Rather than just leaving it at the front door, the delivery man went around the back where he could see me cooking 😐

Sorry but you sound like a right d**k

and why are you saying he saw you cooking like he saw you naked get a grip love

YANBU I wouldn’t like someone coming into my back garden.

You may have been in the shower or on the toilet etc which mean you couldn’t come to the door.

If they don’t want to leave it on the doorstep then they should just take it back with them and then you go and collect it from them.

I would have just answered the door.
You we’re only cooking.

You can choose where your parcel goes if you’re not in and so I’d check you’ve not set this to the back door.

It's not just someone . It's a delivery driver that is delivering something OP ordered to their house. What happens when the window cleaner comes? I honestly don't know how people get through life.

PaulaZackMayo · 13/09/2023 09:22

*some people

Lorraineinherleggings · 13/09/2023 09:25

Don't order stuff online 😐

Diymesss · 13/09/2023 09:28

I wouldn't have minded been caught cooking - I once didn't answer the door because I was breast feeding my newborn and had the delivery man open the side gate, come round and peer through the window while I had my top up to feed.

Horatiosmum · 13/09/2023 09:29

Our amazon driver opens our door and pops the parcels in the hallway for us, he only rings the bell if the door is locked. We think it's great customer service. I certainly wouldn't mind a delivery driver finding a safe place for my parcels.

It’s not about getting through life, it’s about not wanting my dog to run out into the busy road or to be able to walk in my kitchen naked or half naked, without someone in my back garden.

Most people don’t have a window cleaner but if they do they know what days & times they’re coming, so you know to put the dogs away and put some clothes on.

We keep our back gate locked so the dogs can't get out.

I don't walk around my house naked as I have a teenager and I'm sure he doesn't want to see his parents naked.

If I was half naked I wouldn't be bothered as I would be modestly covered.

I didn't know most people didn't have a window cleaner and yes you would know he was coming but OP also knew her delivery was coming. My window cleaner says he's coming on a day not a time so exactly the same as the delivery driver.

I think OP is being dramatic.

Mydogeatstoast · 13/09/2023 09:39

I wish our Amazon man was like that!!!

Ours leaves our packages either on our doorstep (on a main housing estate tributary road) or halfway in our letterbox (why he cannot push them the whole way through is beyond me!)

I even had to get a neighbour to grab a parcel he had left halfway in our letterbox whilst we were away so as not to alert to the entire neighbourhood we were on holiday

Tessisme · 13/09/2023 09:41

Genuinely not sure if this is a joke or not

Either way, it certainly cheered me right up!

10HailMarys · 13/09/2023 09:42

And it was the embarrassment of them knowing I knew they'd caught me ignoring them.

They probably thought you just didn’t hear the doorbell, you giant weirdo

Wheelz46 · 13/09/2023 09:42

What if he left it at the front door and the parcel got pinched? Would you think it were unreasonable of him to have left it there in view of passers by?

Secondly how would he know you were choosing to ignore the door, maybe he thought you couldn't hear the knock or perhaps he went to leave your parcel in a secure place, like round the back.

You are definitely being unreasonable, he is doing his job!

Giant Weirdo

😂Love that.

housethatbuiltme · 13/09/2023 09:50

Why should he risk a black mark against his name for a non/mis-delivery just because your lazy and entitled? Its literally his JOB.

Just open the door, it take 2 seconds.

PleaseGiveMeBackMySummer · 13/09/2023 09:50

The postman saw me this morning at 8.55am, through the dining room window when he went to pop a package by the shed at the side of the house! 😱 I only had my jammies on! Unicorn ones too. I am so embarrassed and ashamed! That bastard. 😠

Advice please vipers. Should I call 101 or 999?

HerMammy · 13/09/2023 10:00

the rudeness of going round the back and unlocking the gate and seeing me in my kitchen,
there is nothing rude here, much safer than leaving it at front door, delivery drivers are meant to leave in a safe place and 'back door' is an option in their delivery app.
The whole basis of this is that you were caught being an ignorant cow.
Delivery drivers want a quick response, so stop being so fuckin rude and entitled.

Bellaboo01 · 13/09/2023 10:01

bridgetreilly · 13/09/2023 10:01

You were rude and lazy; he was doing his job. HTH.

Truemilk · 13/09/2023 10:03

If you wanted it left by the front door you could have left a note on the delivery details online or you could have stuck a note of the front door saying to leave it there.

You are the only unreasonable one in this whole situation

LaMarschallin · 13/09/2023 10:03

I really want to know what you were cooking, OP.
I'm finding it hard to think of anything that can't be taken off the heat and left for a couple of minutes.
A PP mentioned wanting to wash their hands if they were, say, cutting up chicken which is fair enough. Yes, the delivery man may have left during that time but an attempt would at least have been made.
Bonus points as well for cooking something so incredibly tricky that it can't be left, for lunch.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 13/09/2023 10:04

If you ask Alexa she will give a time frame for delivery too. I make sure someone is in. I also have a front door you can't open without a key.
And my window cleaner is completely guided by the weather.
Not sure how I am surviving.

INeedAnotherName · 13/09/2023 10:07

it was simply because I had ignored the door because I didn't want to answer the door

Don't order online if you don't want to answer your door. Plenty of real shops still sell toothpaste you know.

Winnading · 13/09/2023 10:23

sparkleshin · 12/09/2023 22:35

I wasn't complaining because of the length of time it would have taken to open the door or because I thought the kitchen would set on fire after leaving the pan for 10 seconds, it was simply because I had ignored the door because I didn't want to answer the door, which I thought was obvious by my OP but I guess not, and the rudeness of going round the back and unlocking the gate and seeing me in my kitchen, when they usually just leave it on the front step. And it was the embarrassment of them knowing I knew they'd caught me ignoring them. And if it was expensive, they would have wanted a passcode.

You know you can track the delivery driver, it shows when they are about 10 houses away. So you can then send a message to say leave on doorstep, or leave a note on your door to leave on doorstep. You can default in the settings on Amazon to leave on doorstep.

Theres a world of difference between a less than £10 parcel and a £700 phone that requires a passcode. I'd not be happy if my £100 item was stolen.

And the delivery driver has no idea if my item is worth £100 or 4 quid.

Yabvvvvu
Just sort your amazon account out for delivery instructions.
