It makes my blood boil! They drive their big childcrushers whilst on the phone, they tailgate other smaller cars, they use enormous amounts of petrol, they block up roads, they look threatening...how can people choose to drive something like that? Do they have ha a selfish gene, do they think they are just better than other people so rules don't apply to them, or are they just thick?

(NOTE this is only about town drivers, i appreciate that they are useful in the countryside).

Sometimes, I think Jeremy Clarkson is winning.

Last time I looked Winnie they were all sour faced blondes with thin lips.

Oh. And calm down.

AitchTwoOh · 03/03/2008 21:20

don't be silly, no-one struggles to park in a dinky car.

snotbuster · 03/03/2008 21:21

Maybe I used to Aitch - when I lived in a far posher part of town than I do now it was even worse TBH. My street there was a very narrow, very steeply sloped, very curved, cul-de -sac and they were all bloody buying them!

My real gripe with 4x4s is that the manicured, freshly highlighted, expertly made up women driving them give me an inferiority complex as they (literally!) look down on me! And I hate not being able to see past them when they are parked near junctions.

I know you shouldn't judge people on their choice of car, but I just don't understand why people buy BMWs, knowing that everyone will then assume them to be a t**t! Although, apparently, if you DO own a BMW you OWN the middle lane of the motorway and automatically get the right of way at any roundabout or junction, so maybe worth looking into...

But I don't understand why people buy cars that expensive!! It really amazes me! Especially if you have children who will mush raisins into the upholstery and dogs who will cover it with hair!

snotbuster · 03/03/2008 21:22

(I mean used to live next door to Aitch)

redrobin · 03/03/2008 21:25

No Y are definitely NBU to think that edinburgh is full of whatever you call them who can't drive for shit. the town is full of them. pretty much my point.

and yep, i probably do judge you on your car: your car - your choice. in my eyes, that says quite a lot about you. you might think a 4x4 is cool, i think they are vile, hence i judge your taste and what drove you to choose that vehicle. sorry.

I wasn't saying that people who own huge cars ARE stupid. Just that they LOOK stupid when sitting in the huge car in the middle of a narrow street and seeming to have no idea how to go either backward or forward.
(I am a sour faced blond with thin lips and a dinky car but I'm fantastic at parking, even parallel).

i judge RR too

tori32 · 03/03/2008 21:35

YABVU DH drives one (we live on an Army camp). He does none of the above forementioned things and nor is he thick (instructor on installing telecoms.) We happen to have one because it was the cheapest large vehicle we could purchase which would accommodate all dd's equipment when we visited family (5 hours drive away, so had to take lots of equipment.)while she was small.
We only still have it because after 2 years we would get less than half its value back.
Oh and he definately isn't selfish

WtW, i have no no doubt you and your husband are highly intelligent drivers, as described

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 03/03/2008 21:42

no, it's because the car you drive is feet wider than it need be, nothing to do with your personality and everythign to do with my experience of every other 4x4 driver in the world. i bet you still go down a ten feet road if your car is five or six foot across, even though you know that you will meet other drivers and you'll be encroaching on their road space. i bet you. you all do. personally i'd keep big wide cars on big wide roads.

redrobin · 03/03/2008 21:42

i find it soooooooo unlikely i would know wtw!
