Found something DISGUSTING in my clean washing

went to put a tshirt on my DS this morning and it was a bit stinky. Put it back in the bag with the other clean washing and went on with the day.

We’ve just Spent a week in Cornwall but I washed and dried most of our clothes before we left so it was a carrier bag containing clean clothes belonging to DS.

the more I looked into the bag the worst the smell got. It stank of rotting fish.

I got to the bottom to find a carrier bag of DDs rocks and shells from the beaches containing 2 mussels which must’ve been alive when they went in but were open and rotting in the 27 degree weather we’ve had for the last few days since returning.

mortified that it’s been sat in my room for days and the smell was horrific Blush

please feel free to share anything disgusting you’ve found to make me feel less gross about my find!!

I spent half of today cleaning out and bleaching my wheelie bin thanks to the heat and a badly tied up rubbish bag containing the trays from the prawns we had last week 🤢🤢🤢🤢

It truly was vile

Have vowed to only have prawns in the winter now

I was always taught as a kid to never have any shellfish unless there is an R in the month. (So avoid May-August).

I was told the summer ones can be very smelly and more likely to give you food poisoning.

The seething army of maggots|
Pra-aaaise thee

...what is wrong with my brain

I still find it weird that people take off their trousers and pants at the same time.

Is that the Te Deum? Grin

There was a dead seal on our local beach in Cornwall this Summer@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius fortunately we spotted it before the dog and I put her lead on. She has rolled in a lot of dead things: deer, fox, pigeon. Watched as several other pooches made a beeline for it and had a good roll. Dogs are grim sometimes

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/09/2023 15:33

Definitely, @Mothership4two - it’s just as well they are cute!

I found a desiccated rat next to our nice new garden furniture.

Although it was much less unpleasant than the juicy one I found in the kitchen a few days later.

I had to tell DH it was a really big mouse as he hates rats!

MIL used to find dried out old frog mummies all over her house when she had a cat - usually hidden under sofas or in corners. She never saw him bring one in or any prey, but the evidence was there in abundance. She doesnt even have a pond.

If one of our sheep gets fly strike we have to clear the live maggots from its fleece. They really are disgusting and try to eat the sheep alive.

i live in the New Forest and many years ago when walking my dog he found the decomposing remains of a foal and immediately rolled in it, the smell was horrendous. My daughter was bringing a friend home from school for tea that day and despite me bathing the dog a couple of times the smell still lingered, goodness knows what the friend thought of our smelly dog.

Badabingy · 12/09/2023 09:14

Not quite on point but I was wearing Birkenstocks flip flops, walking through a rather damp forest. My feet were feeling quite wet, not surprising, but one felt a bit sticky. I stopped, took off the shoe, and there was a perfectly flat and dead frog sitting where my heel was. It must have jumped in just as the shoe flipped, and been squished. Because Birkenstocks have a ridge around the edge of the heel it fitted perfectly. There’s been a dark frog shaped mark there ever since..

I'm so pleased it's got a 'sensitive content' warning now (or maybe it's my phone settings?)

maybebluth · 13/09/2023 21:27

Honestly I read this hoping it would be so much worse!

Millenialmom · 15/09/2023 00:08

If you had smelled it you wouldn’t be hoping for worse I promise!

also, put the stinky shells in the garden when I found them and the birds took care of the stink. The shells are now locked clean and being donated to DS’s reception class who asked for ‘natural resources donations’ 😂

I spilt a carton of milk in the boot of my old car and the stink never went. When it got stolen a bit of me was glad, until the police rang to say they'd found it with no damage.

<trigger warning - vomit>
Many year ago a friend had regular house parties - just music, booze and hangovers. One morning after, while getting some breakfast someone looked out and asked what the dog was eating off the lawn. Then someone else said 'isn't that where Dave threw up last night' 😱

shellyleppard · 15/09/2023 07:54

Omg that's a really really gross one!!!!! Well done for the clean up....i would have struggled!!

asdfgasdfg · 19/09/2023 18:57

Daughter was putting shells in a large patch pocket on the front of her dress, you could hear the screams a mile away when the hermit crabs decided to pop out of said shells.
