Minor celebs wife being rude in pub

Went to a country pub yesterday with my partner. Nice little place in the Surrey countryside, part of a chain, not fine dining. Very busy as the weather was really good, some stressed looking teenage girls trying to serve everyone. Kids play area in the garden and a bar in the garden area for drinks. We were sat on the patio attached to the restaurant.

A minor TV celeb, his wife, and another couple were sat across from us. The wife of the minor celeb complained a few times (that I heard).

First time: That one of the starters came out fractionally behind one of the others. (It was busy, there were four of them, the waitress can only carry two plates?!)

Second time: that the prawns in their prawn cocktail were inedible. (To be fair, I'd let this complaint slide as I didn't eat the prawn cocktail. It could have been bad). The waitress apologised and had a new dish made for them.

Third time: and this is the one that got me. The mains came, and the waitress went to put the plates down. The wife of the celeb laughed and stopped the waitress, and told her that "you don't serve plates from that side" aka the waitress was stood on the wrong side of her putting her plate down. She made the waitress go round the other side and put her plate down. This wasn't a silver service Michelin starred restaurant where you might expect such things. Just a standard pub.

So my (lighthearted) AIBU - do I sell this story to the Daily Mail and name and shame?

I'm surprised at this because around 20 years ago Bradley Walsh's in-laws used to have a chalet in Hemsby ( in the dunes before all was washed away). This was before he was in Corrie or the Chase. He and his wife and son used to stay there regularly. He was a really nice man, his wife was on the quiet side and his in-laws were very nice polite people.
A big personality change if it is true.

Long ago, when I was at school, some of my classmates lived in Chigwell and told us about the behaviour of the wife of the very famous world cup winning football captain, who also lived there. Once, she walked into the baker's, where there was a queue, and walked straight to the counter. When challenged, she said, "Do you know who I am?". Queue replied, "Yes! Get to the back of the queue!"

I met this woman through work about 25 years ago (second wife I'm assuming). I had no clue who she was but she soon told me! Unfortunately I was fairly new to the UK, have no interest in football so had to ask another colleague who she was. All a bit wasted on me I'm afraid.

Agreed as mentioned above.. I worked for a hotel that have a lot of celeb clients Bradley was our favourite and was always polite and well mannered unlike some others I could mention!!

He is still a nice man. Friendly and quiet. I’ve regularly seen him in a cafe quietly talking to his friends and he is very polite to everyone. Obviously I can’t comment on his wife but he seems a good bloke.

SplendidUtterly · 05/09/2023 15:36

I hope they added an extra ingredient to the prawn cocktail the second time around.

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 05/09/2023 15:37

@nowahousewife

No, as a pp earlier guessed, it was his first wife. Interesting about his second wife whom you met. He must have been attracted to the same pretentious type.

"Why would you want to give her publicity? This can only encourage her to treat more people like they’re cunts, when in reality she’s the cunt."

@RubiRage what a vile thing to write. This is an anonymous post and probably a complete fabrication.

@mnhq how is this thread "in the spirit"?

Liamgallaghersparka · 05/09/2023 15:45

Cheeky cow. I couldn't give a fuck what side anybody serves me from when I'm in a restaurant, I treat anyone serving me with respect, I would never dream of behaving like they are below me and there to bow and scrape to me.

LlynTegid · 05/09/2023 15:59

Have to say when I met Bradley Walsh he was polite and courteous.

YABU for even thinking about selling the story or even giving it to The Paper that Supported the Blackshirts.

carbuncleonapigsposterior · 05/09/2023 16:14

I'm still reeling from that woman off Coronation Street whose PR Firm expected the cake shop (small business) to donate a really large order of cakes, and the theme for the so called event "As camp as tits" I believe, who dreamed that up, Shock more apt "As grabby as A*holes"

Lambiriyani · 05/09/2023 17:47

Photos? Where?

I mean being rude and patronising to service staff is the first sign of narsassism.

But then the woman does have to go to bed with someone like this so she is paying for her horribleness

Hope you’re not body shaming!

LunaNorth · 05/09/2023 18:52

He looks fine! Nice little dad bod.

She looks incredible.

That’s vile. Imagine saying that about a female celeb on here. You’d be strung up. They both look great.

This thread is surely ‘not in the spirit’. Bradley and his wife (who might just have been having a bad day) have no right of reply to all these shitty comments. Criticism of his body ffs, and calling her a cunt, amongst other things. Really horrible and unnecessary.

VeloVixen · 05/09/2023 19:40

@BirdiePlantaganet i agree with you. It wasn’t me who posted the body shaming post, I just quoted it while saying it wasn’t on.

Rolypoly2961 · 05/09/2023 19:49

Bradley Walsh and partner were in our local gastropub. He was very polite, despite being bothered by a drunk and tedious local. Her behaviour was unremarkable.

I know, sorry. I should’ve just quoted the original mean post, not you. 😬

IDoughnutKnow · 05/09/2023 20:10

Whoever was writing upthread about "narsassism" has presumably never heard of Narcissus.

So much for schools (or parents) providing an education. Some people just don't stand a chance.

Vergeofbreakdown23 · 05/09/2023 20:45

He's the highest paid solo television presenter - I'd say he's top of the A list 😂

Edited

Surely A list is Brad Pitt or Olivia Rodrigo or someone like that... not a random ITV presenter!

ArcaneWireless · 05/09/2023 22:11

Ach it is all in the eye of the beholder.

I’ve never heard of Olivia Rodrigo.

I have heard of Bradders. And Brad.

But I only want to see one of them in a little overcoat in my shed

BirdiePlantaganet · 05/09/2023 22:21

Olivia Rodrigo? No idea who that is 😂

DopeyS · 05/09/2023 22:30

Someone I used to work with, at a place I used to work served Michael Fassbender in the coffee bar. His wife was working nearby and he was there with his kids. She said he was absolutely lovely.

This woman sounds horrible, but might have always been like it. Being a.mikor celeb I can't imagine she gets enough special treatment like bog celebs to have 'turned her' so she was probably always a knob

Amblu81 · 06/09/2023 09:57

Oh no! I work in hospitality and insist no matter what the setting, that my staff, where possible, put down plates from the correct side. I wouldn't complain if I was a guest and plates put down incorrectly, but working from the other side, it is my gripe when my staff don't. It is so ingrained in me to lay plates from left and raise from the right that this goes on in my household at teatime ..... eldest DS rolls his eyes and repeats after me haha!!
