To hate the sun and hot weather?

notnowpls · 02/09/2023 14:32

I feel like I'm the only person on the planet to absolutely hate hot weather. I see YouTube vlogs, people on tv programmes in direct sun, on holiday in hot countries and it doesn't bother them at all whereas I get really stressed if I'm too hot! I'm dreading the weather hitting 25 degrees next week and I won't be able to leave the house. Anything above about 15 degrees is too hot for me and I personally can't wait for the cold weather to come back!
Does anyone else feel this way or is there something wrong with me!?

I know quite a few people who don’t love hot weather and find it uncomfortable (and constantly complain), but I’m talking weather in at least the 20s; to find anything over 15 degrees too hot does seem unusual. 15 degrees would be cold for me!

TwilightSkies · 02/09/2023 14:36

I’m the same. Hate it! I hate feeling sweat on my back 5 mins after showering. Yuck

Createausername1970 · 02/09/2023 14:37

Nope, nothing wrong with you. I don't like hot weather. I am ok up to about 23 or 24 degrees, but much more than that, I am actively planning my day to avoid being outside too long.

Over 30 and I am a hermit.

I don't like sitting on a beach or in the garden in direct sun, and as for eating outside a cafe etc., forget it.

I like old fashioned spring and autumn.

Weatherwax134 · 02/09/2023 14:40

I'm the same, I hate being sweaty and have no desire to sit in the sun. It always makes me laugh when people go "you should enjoy it, you'll complain in winter when it's too cold"

Yes...yes I will :) I don't want to be too hot OR too cold lol

GeorgeMichaelWasHere · 02/09/2023 14:45

I’m the same. Illness and perimenopause have affected me so much. Even before peri I was bad but now I just can’t function in heat at all. It literally drains any life out of me. I’ll probably be stuck indoors for the next week or so.

Mushroo · 02/09/2023 14:50

I like warm weather, but I dislike sitting in direct sunlight and hate walking when it’s warm as I end up a sweaty mess.

Up to 25 degrees when I can sit in the shade is nice. Any more than that is too much.

I went for a walk earlier and it was too warm to be enjoyable.

JamSandle · 02/09/2023 14:52

I love it but especially if I'm by the water. I spend as much time in the sea as I can.

Almondmum · 02/09/2023 14:53

Fair enough not to like it but if you're in the UK you surely can't complain about a measly few days of sun after the weather we've had this summer?! It's presumably been perfect for you

MidnightOnceMore · 02/09/2023 14:54

Loads of people dislike the heat, it's not uncommon.

OddBoots · 02/09/2023 14:59

Lots of people don't like it but thankfully in this country there is such a variety of weather no-one ever has the weather they least like for very long.

lemmein · 02/09/2023 15:00

Nope, I hate it too. I can cope with it abroad but that's just because I don't have to do anything on holiday - doing daily tasks in clammy weather is unbearable.

I can, and I will 🤣 I could happily live in 10 degree weather all year round

I also think I get seasonal depression in summer and not winter, the warm makes me SO miserable! Bring back costs and oversized jumpers!

Me too! Though even jumpers in winter are too hot for me!😂

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/09/2023 15:19

I like the sun at this time of the year as the sun is lower and you know it won't last long,it's beautifully mellow today here after a grey start.

Thepeopleversuswork · 02/09/2023 15:29

It’s not at all uncommon so I’m surprised you feel like you’re the only person to feel like this.

I feel like a lot of people I know are constantly complaining about hot weather including my DP who whinges when the temperature goes above 10 degrees.

I love hot weather tbh. Can’t get enough of it.

I love hot weather and thankfully my husband and family do as well.

Lovelybeansfromnextdoor · 02/09/2023 15:44

These posts are a regular occurance and stupidly pointless. Autumn is on its way. Be happy.

Soubriquet · 02/09/2023 15:44

Nope. I do too. The light hurts my eyes and I hate feeling hot and bothered too. It just drains me.

Fightyouforthatpie · 02/09/2023 15:46

YANBU OP and I am really sick of all the moaning about the UK weather. It is the UK, we live in a temperate climate FFS.

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 02/09/2023 15:47

I have hated the hot sun - when we’ve had it this summer! As I’m on antibiotics that make me sensitive to the sun and burn so quickly despite factor 50. It means if I go outside I have to keep covered up and get too hot. I love a cold frosty, sunny day.

PinkRoses1245 · 02/09/2023 15:50

What a pointless post. Why get stressed about something you have no control over.

Littlemissalone · 02/09/2023 15:54

I love blue sky and sun, but I hate anything more than 18 or 19. If sitting in direst sunlight is uncomfortable, then it's too hot.

PuppyMonkey · 02/09/2023 15:55

Yes OP you’re the only one - apart from the 7000 people who start exactly the same thread on MN every week in summer.Grin

uncomfortablydumb53 · 02/09/2023 15:59

I'm the same Anything over 22 and I feel dizzy, weak and drained
I have a disability which means my muscles are either too tight or too relaxed which doesn't help
Post menopause, I end up dripping with sweat from my head which isn't a good look either!
