Just for fun.

Mine is the woman who posted for advice about what to do about her husband who was talking to their cat really sensually. Not baby talk but like sensuous loving ”ooh your fur is so good my darling pussycat” and it gave her the absolute ick.

Every time I talk to my dog I remember her and chuckle. I wonder how she’s doing 😂

Snapped and Farted was so funny because it was surely just a typo but the OP insisted on brazening it out instead of seeing the funny side. But the funniest of all was the husband who was being like a T Rex in ASDA. I literally cried with laughter.
On a much sadder note, African Queen who thought she was putting on weight around her middle because of menopause and turned out to have ovarian cancer. And Minmooch's poor lovely son. I think of Minmooch often. I know she's still on here sometimes.

WhereHaveAllTheMooncupsGone · 02/09/2023 21:24

@NotADaffodil I think the lady who went to NZ was @ThumbWitchesAbroad?

Artichokepiglet · 02/09/2023 21:25

Sometimes I remember the woman who saw the thing with the 'wrinkles upon wrinkles' and it makes me shudder. I think everyone on that thread thought they knew where it was going when she was reluctant to say what she saw, but no, it was unexpectedly horrible.

Sensoria · 02/09/2023 21:25

It turned out to be a troll, but there was a woman who posted on the day of what she claimed was her baby’s funeral and was upset that no one was coming. She said the baby died from RSV. My son was seriously ill in hospital with RSV at the same time, so it left me absolutely terrified and still a little traumatised.

The other that I often think of is an OP whose husband converted the garage or a shed into a bathroom deliberately when the house next door was empty (I think in between the buyer viewing and then completion), and inserted an outward opening window. The new owner put trellis outside the window to stop them opening their bathroom window and letting the shit smells into their garden, and OP was outraged at the behaviour of the neighbour.

porridgeisbae · 02/09/2023 21:26

I know it's not lighthearted but I'm mainly into the relationships board and so- Chickencuddle. She was with a sexually evil husband. I so hope she's escaped or makes a new thread and finally gets out.

Also LittleRedToothbrush and how she got away from her husband and built a life for herself.

Also... me. Grin There were years where I thought of the thread where vipers helped me leave a wrong'un, every single day, the comments different people made. I still think of it often.

I also wonder where some old posters have gone. Probably they're here under new names- unless they've managed to break the habit of MN. Smile

BumpyaDaisyevna · 02/09/2023 21:26

I remember the one about the CF houseguests who turned up and behaved appallingly.

It was such fun as it was live throughout their stay.

I think the OP and her DH hosted them royally for days at great expense - then when asked to pick up some shopping and something for supper the CFs selected some massively expensive steaks and then said that they had "left the receipt" out so that the OP could recompense them 😮

The OP was advised to ask them to leave and in the end they did go I think.

Does anyone remember it?

Geppili · 02/09/2023 21:26

Brian from Hull offering free yoni massage. He is legendary between my DH and me.

Omg yes, is this the one next to a caravan site? Something stalked them, they saw it in the shadows of the perimeter wall and ran and it raised up on two legs and chased them?

I think that was the Savernake Forest one. A MN woo legend.

talking of woo, the recent -ish creepy 🍦van music playing in the middle of the night one freaked me right out.

Mine is the lady who found out her husband was having an affair, sycamore trees I think her username was, while she was pregnant and buying a house. I randomly think of her often, she was so strong. Hope things have turned out well for her

I think was Tricky Tree Lou who I mentioned above, who had tree related names first. It was always in OTBT but I followed her in admiration at what she was enduring.

The one where the poster wanted a live in nanny but wanted her to work all day minding the baby and then share a room with the baby at night even though the mum herself planned to get up for the night feeds, she planned to go into the nanny's room several times a night to tend to the baby. She also wanted the nanny to find somewhere else to stay every weekend so her family had the house to themselves.

I had never come across such batshittery in my life!

I remember that! It was absolutely bonkers! She couldn’t see what was wrong with her demands and was very much like “well what about our family time over the weekend”

@Geppili "my yoni says noni"

Mumsnet classic gold.

maddiemookins16mum · 02/09/2023 21:28

The grandparent whose grandson (under 4) cut his mouth/tongue when licking the pot/lid that she’d given him. How Yeo Valley (I believe) were going to really pay for the incident.

I think of it everytime I lick a cream or yoghurt lid.

porridgeisbae · 02/09/2023 21:28

Oh and, Chopin&the Lobster Boy saga. I hope that ends ok eventually.

I don't know that one and can't see where it's going.
Help - please Smile

Yes, I love when something gets started by an innocent typo like that . I remember being very frustrated by a thread that could have gone a similar way but the OP or someone asked for it to be removed. It was a woman at work and a young colleague was being bullied, IIRC and the OP was understandably upset but type d that she was so angry she urinated on the chair! I was thinking, oh, this thread is going to be good, but OP got in a huff and the thread was removed. I hate when a good thread gets removed.

feralunderclass · 02/09/2023 21:31

There was a thread once from a man whose wife was masturbating or "polishing the pearl" as he described it. He wanted advice on what he should do, and was probably a troll, but the replies were very funny. Posters telling him "not to be shellfish" and asking "does she clam up when you try to initiate?".

The woman that was surprised her husband wasn't allowed to buy canesten and it turned out to be for the pet giant millipede Dave. Made me laugh

Oh yes loved that one. She showed us pics too 😂

Dottielottie123 · 02/09/2023 21:32

Mexican house thief as the most batshit!

there was a lady who’s name was something like chicken noodle, her husband was an awful bully and used to sexually abuse her in her m and stuff, she was going to leave him then she disappeared. I often think of her and wonder if she is still with him or
managed to get away

TheFutureMrsWolowitz · 02/09/2023 15:26

was the parking thread one where the op tried to earn a woman about the parking suspension signs and got told to duck off; there was a road worker who measured everything by teeny tiny footsteps and a wolfhound had his own bedroom? Plus a segue into plague pits along with photos? I loved that thread.

Ha! that was mine. Never had such an entertaining night outside my house. I still see the possible plague (errm pig) bone around the garden...

The hairy fucker dog (Deerhound/Greyhound cross) still has his own bedroom but because one teen has gone to uni, he also thinks that he has another, larger, bedroom option. When the next teen goes in a few weeks I'm fully expecting him to have bought us out and have changed the deeds or something.

I sometimes re read ‘snapped and farted’ when I am down. The responses made me smile first read and still do.

Please can you share the link for it?

I think it's very mean people laugh at your thread- Balonz is a real Surrey name! 😀

Mrs Presley's posts about reins for children. One of the saddest posts I've ever read on here. I first read it when my son was young and I've never forgotten it.

The one with the creepy music in the garden and the even creepier deletion message.

What was this one?
