Police shoot pregnant woman dead (USA)

Ok America, since when did it become normal for police officers to point guns at pregnant women accused of shoplifting?
She didn't have a weapon or get violent. Turns out she hadn't stolen anything either.
If I was black in America I'd be scared to go out 😪😪😪
This is probably the worst thing I've seen ever.

Footage of police with guns drawn

Bodycam video shows Ohio police fatally shooting pregnant black woman

Ta'Kiya Young, 21, appears to advance the car towards an Ohio officer before a single shot is fired.

Foe those saying she was trying to leave so it was justified. Ummmmm you ever watch the crazy rhings white women so to police and nothing happens to them?
I recently watched a white 19yr old girl resist arrest (called for battery against her SO) and slap, kick and punch an officer. Onced cuffed on the ground she co tinued to assault an officer. No shooting despite threatening his life with actions and saying she would kill him.
Double standards.

This is awful. Not sure how anyone lives in America. the worst story I heard was a Black father shot in his car infront of his kids for simply asking why he was stopped. His pregnant wife beside him and his 2 kids in the back.
Racisim is very much alive and thriving not just in the USA but here to.

NHS worker I see it daily.

I think Mr Posting might have some form of learning disability bless him.

sunglassesonthetable · 04/09/2023 02:08

Or do as your instructed even with the warrant out or the fact you just commited a crime and the officers would have no reason to bring out guns.

Because the police are judge and jury.
@CallumDansTransitVan

Don't cooperate
warrant for your arrest
shop lifting accusation
no car plates

= car park execution

Really? A white 21yr mum of 2 with another on the way driving around in a car without plates who started to steal booze but left it down in the end then refused to comply with police instead tried to flee despite the fact that one of them was standing in front of her car wouldn't be judged? Really?

I was a white 21 year old mother of 1 and was judged harshly by people all of the time and I didn't do anything other than quietly exist with my kid.

I know that feeling I was a young mum myself and survived to tell the tale.

The justice system is not equal and that's a fact. They even think black female barristers in the UK is in court for other reasons other than to represent their client. She was asked to wait outside numerous times and she told them that she was a barrister their to represent her client.

sunglassesonthetable · 04/09/2023 02:11

So you think driving a 2 ton car in the direction of one officer while another is at your passenger window. Both are shouting for you to stop is not driving dangerously???

Do you got shot for driving dangerously?

Do you not think shooting someone at point blank range is behaving dangerously?

No the police are the police. Imagine if you will. When the first officer said get out the car, she had done that. She would then have been arrested and able to plead her case with judge and jury. She chose a different route.

She chose a different route.

She chose to be shot?

sunglassesonthetable · 04/09/2023 02:14

Choosing not to co operate is not choosing to be shot.

sunglassesonthetable · 04/09/2023 02:15

We have judge, jury's and jails to deal with people who choose not to cooperate.

sunglassesonthetable · 04/09/2023 02:16

You are an apologist @CallumDansTransitVan

You are entirely correct. Justice can be purchased. I'm surprised though that someone who has made to the lofty heights of being a barrister was asked to wait outside. They normally enter the court dressed in their attire and have dressed in the court chambers.

You think she deserves death?

sunglassesonthetable · 04/09/2023 02:18

The law is there to deal with people who choose not to co operate .

You are an apologist @CallumDansTransitVan

No I am a pragmatist. If anything you are being an apologist, stating that someone alleged of a crime, driving a car that didn't fit their profile, who decided to ignore police instruction on several instances, who then attempted to drive away from armed police is a completely innocent person who posed no threat to the wider public.

I think she chose a course of action that resulted in her death.

This is horrifying and the racist apologists for this murder on this thread scare and disgust me.

Yeah I'm regretting opening this thread tbh.

TaiDee · 04/09/2023 02:30

2 things can be simultaneously true.

The victim made a series of wrong choices; and

She was unlawfully and unjustifiably killed.

I hope the police officer rots.

Where have I used the words 'completely innocent ' ? Whatever this girl could be guilty of I don't think it has a death sentence under law.

I have no idea if she posed a threat to 'the wider public ' and frankly nor do you.

You have no evidence that in the two hectic minutes before she died the police had made any profile judgements .

And even you can't think you should get shot for ignoring instructions.

I'm interested why you think this total non event ( according to you ) has got so much publicity and a triggered an investigation.

And whatever choices she made, she didn't choose to be shot at point blank range.

That is a choice the police officer made.
