For at least an hour. Is there any circumstance that makes this reasonable?

TemporaryName123 · 27/08/2023 10:08

No!!!!

Mehmeh22 · 27/08/2023 10:08

No

Dinojump · 27/08/2023 10:09

Absolutely not.

Just don't do it.

ShineBright1209 · 27/08/2023 10:10

Absolutely not.

DustyLee123 · 27/08/2023 10:10

No. It needs reporting as a safeguarding incident.

toomuchlaundry · 27/08/2023 10:10

Who did this?

historygeek · 27/08/2023 10:12

Under no circumstances whatsoever.

If a partner did this- leave them.
If someone else you know did this- report them

ADHDGURL · 27/08/2023 10:13

Please tell me this is a joke/troll?? In now way would this be OK.

determinedtomakethiswork · 27/08/2023 10:13

Of course not. Why are you asking?

PonyPatter44 · 27/08/2023 10:13

No. Poor kids. Please report this as a safeguarding issue.

Oysterbabe · 27/08/2023 10:13

Obviously not.
Can you tell us a bit more about who is doing this?

MrsDoylesTeaTrolley · 27/08/2023 10:14

My neighbour. We are in a strip of units designated for women and children escaping domestic violence.

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 27/08/2023 10:14

None. If you think of extreme circumstances like someone is dying and I need to go to hospital, it still wouldn’t be ok. You would make arrangements or take them with you.

Turtlegurl888 · 27/08/2023 10:14

Unless the person caring for them died unexpectedly with no one else around, absolutely not.

Robotalkingrubbish · 27/08/2023 10:14

NO NO NO

MrsDoylesTeaTrolley · 27/08/2023 10:15

Thank you, all. I knew I was right in my heart. Trauma obviously makes you second guess yourself

OP posts:
Valerie23 · 27/08/2023 10:15

No. A four year old can climb and open things etc

Two of them would be even more dangerous.

StopThatBloodyNoise · 27/08/2023 10:16

Is this a serious question???? Of course kids of 4 cannot be left alone - not for any amount of time

MrsDoylesTeaTrolley · 27/08/2023 10:16

Exactly to everything above. I stayed close by once I realised Mum had left them until she returned.

Where did she go? Is she an older woman? I'd be extremely concerned about her mental health and competence

Cowlover89 · 27/08/2023 10:18

No

NewCracker · 27/08/2023 10:18

Absolutely fucking not!

Figgygal · 27/08/2023 10:20

No way can you escalate to whoever is housing? Unbelievable that anyone would do that

MrsDoylesTeaTrolley · 27/08/2023 10:21

I didn’t hear/see her leave, but she returned (solo) in a car I’ve never seen at this address before. There was at least an hour between when I realised the children were alone and the time their mother returned.

Clowninja · 27/08/2023 10:21

It's never ok to leave 4yr olds home alone.

Even in emergency, bang on a neighbours door and beg them to watch the kids
