To think my friend is treating me like her maid

For context, this is a friend who I have known for years, haven't seen since before COVID. We booked and are on a 7 day all in beach holiday in the Med.

Meals are buffet service, tea service and cakes etc at certain times from a pool bar and a bar where you can go and get alcoholic drinks etc. At meal times waiters will bring you water for the table and you go to bar for anything else. Bar a few mins walk.

At every single meal we have had since arriving, she tries to send me to the bar to get her a drink, if I am going anyway absolutely fine, otherwise get your own!

She also keeps taking food from my plate to try it, with fingers , and then says can you go and get me some of that.

When I get desert, she gives me a list and asks me to bring back plates of various things.

Tea, she doesn't want to go to bar to get cakes, in case she misses some sun so again even though I don't want anything asks me to go.

I know its petty, and I'm usually easy going but after 3 days I have just said you go, you have legs too, and please stop taking food from my plate.

She is now very offended and huffing and puffing!

Am I being a cow?

It's fairly ridiculous it's come to this, but she's brought it on herself. Wouldn't want to be sharing a room with her if I didn't have to for the rest of the trip, so well done, OP.

You mean like the OP tried, more than once, and was ignored and her friend got huffy?

I've been out at work and just coming back to update. I am seriously thrilled to read that you've made a small investment to get a good rest of the holiday. Given she hasn't listened to anything you said, and even tried to help herself to your pizza, it was either revert to being her slave or vote with your feet.
If you were my friend (I'm thinking you're in your 40s too so a peer rather than daughter age) I would be cheering you on and wondering if you needed a borrow to make it happen! I'd have advised my girls to do the same. Have a lovely rest of the week and - as others have said - if you get to the airport early and explain, I reckon they'll be able to swap your seat. Don't let her latch onto you at the airport, if you can't change your flight, 'hide' until nearly everyone has boarded and then get on at the opposite end so you don't need to walk past her. Ideally, I'd be making a tiny bit more investment and changing my flight if possible to avoid her completely.

My older sister tries to take food off my plate I've been tempted to lick it all before eating any of it. 🤣🤣🤣 She's behaving like a child it's fine bringing back the odd drink or snack as long as they do the same for you. If she wanted a personal waitress she should have chosen a more upmarket hotel.

I think OP made her aware a few times and cff is ignoring her. OP has choice to make her case more aggressively, probably a few more times at least, or solve the problem a differently way by removing herself from the situation. I think it's a good decision.

She sounds the type who will latch on to some other poor unsuspecting guest. She will tell them how mean the OP is leaving poor helpless little her all alone and in no time at all they'll be hiding from her too.

I learned a long time ago that holidays are to get you away from friends and family. I never go with either as I end up totally pissed off with the petty squabbles. Having said that I'm off on a girlie jaunt soon...... gonna get her to read this thread before we go!! 😃
