to not allow dm aged 88 to my house

she used to drive but no longer drives
i now drive to her house to see her
recently she came to my house, via bus, however when i was looking for some dry clothes, we got caught in the rain, she was snooping through my medications

i find that totally out of order,
i appreciate curiosity can get the better, if a letter is open on table it is hard to resist, but to actually lift things up to look is out of order
i would rather not know about my ds financial affairs for instance and if a letter was left open i would not look

@Wishimaywishimight and @Purpleavocado - I got told off for posting a similar comment on a thread from someone complaining about things their mum has said on the phone. Not poisonous things just irritating to listen to - elderly person’s ramblings. My mum died 10 years ago. I would love to have her still alive and poking through things in my house. I really don’t understand how someone could ban an elderly parent from visiting but not just say - please don’t go through my stuff.

I also lost my mam, I would give almost anything to have her back (not my children obviously) but that doesn't change the fact that when she was alive I had to go out of my way to stop her snooping through my private and personal affairs.

I am ENTITLED to privacy especially about my own health and in my own home.

Was referring to the part where OP called herself an ostrich for not saying anything at the time.

What on Earth kind of meds do you have to elicit such an extreme response??

Painkillers- everyone has these in their cupboard!
HRT- could take a guess as a woman c 50
Anti depressants- 1/4 of the country on them
Valium etc - common to get prescribed for flights etc
Thrush meds- v common
Antibiotics- every one takes them
Haemorrhoid cream - a little embarrassing I suppose but really?
Cold sore cream - no biggie

The only thing I can think that you'd be so pissed off about to ban your SM from your house would be anti- psychotics/ lithium etc.

Which then puts your post in another dimension.

As said earlier for me it included fertility meds from IVF (we didn't tell people we tried for 10 years, its was a painful subject and non of their business) and strong controlled meds (far more than just 'paracetamol') from when I underwent cancer treatments (my mam would have flown off the handle knowing that).

Not that I have to justify my want for privacy in my own home or for my mother not to have access to my PRIVATE medical info.

Op I get it!
My mum still opened my mail at 35 if it "looked important" and she's definitely a snooper.
If I'd get a letter whilst she was here she'd want me to open it in front of her.

My mum is still (probably) far off kicking the bucket at 55 but it still pisses me off!

You're right to be annoyed, I probably wouldn't ban her, but I would put stuff like that out of eye level/ reach so she wouldn't be tempted to look through.
