Womens' World Cup Final - Where's the PM?

StarlightLady · 20/08/2023 09:53

Just as the Australian Governmnet have pointed out that Prince William is also Prince of Australia, we hear that the Queen of Spain and her daughter are attending the final.

So, in contrast where is Sunak, the PM who loves jet travel? Would he not be attending if it was a male England team in the final.

This cerainly puts the Lionesses in their place; dreadful!

Well I personally didn't use the internet to get the facts that I am telling you. But I was saying to you to use the internet like most people do. Again your opinion doesn't change facts.

Hope that helps

You seem to not get it so let me spell it out for you:

POST evidence of the "FACTS" you claim

Again, this is not hard.

For fuck sake I'm not your personal assistant. Plus, many other people have said the same thing to you on here, why single me out? Why are you not asking them to post the facts too. Look them up and stop being bloody lazy. You have a bee in your bonnet, over something that really has nothing to do with you. Is your life that simple and boring , that this is what you spend your Sunday doing?
I actually have a life and have important things to do, so again, as I've said, I've given you the facts. You don't accept them, which is your perogative, but I have much better things to do. I really do hope you can get over this all. Good day

@RyanGoslingsTan to be fair in the time it took to write all that you could have just posted the link the other poster asked for?

I’m a mere woman, who knows that if men were playing, the country would be properly officially represented. Spain thought it the correct thing to do.

How do you know they’d be present for the men’s game ? How many times have royals attended men’s matches in foreign countries ?

Againstmachine · 20/08/2023 18:19

Well for a start I'd imagine you didn't have this outrage when pms royals weren't there when women's rugby team reached world cup last year, the netball earlier this year etc.

I'd rather the pm be running the country

The issue is not the PM attending. He has nothing to do with the FA, and given the poor economy state of the UK, he has bigger things on his plate.

William is President of the FA and he should have had plans to attend if the women made the final.

Thats how its done. The planning is put in place to attend by those that are responsible (as William no doubt is).

Its such an incredibly poor response by William that he really should get the boot as FA President.

This was a spectacular governance failure as the WC final is not some random game. It may not happen again for decades.

Chickychoccyegg · 20/08/2023 18:29

Google says there's no protocol issues due to the fact William would be attending in his role as president of the football association

Womens' World Cup Final - Where's the PM?
Freddiefox · 20/08/2023 18:32

Absolutely he should have been there, doesn’t have to be a private flight, other members of the government flew in he could have joined them.

Don’t blame protocols they change them quick enough when they want to.

He could have gone under his role as head of the FA and if he genuinely is unable to go, then he shouldn’t have taken the role and should step down now. Shame on him

CloudyMcCloudy · 20/08/2023 18:35

Mischance · 20/08/2023 17:13

I expect he was getting on with PM'ing and not wasting aviation fuel. It's a football match FGS!!

Agree. Other people can do sporting events or other events I’d rather the PM didn’t go to other side of the world for a match

Yes

i’d like the link as well

all i can think is that he would have been there if it was the mens team, and the pm, and with the euros the men would have had an open top bus and there would be world cup tat in the shops for the men

but nothing

i would very much like to be proved wrong…that womens football is as important as the mens

He's also the patron of the Wales rugby team, these are purely ceremonial titles, also Wales were playing this weekend.

There are plenty of world cup finals england get to or are you just focusing on soccer or association football to give it it's full name.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 20/08/2023 18:52

So they were supposed to travel twenty thousand miles for 90 minutes watching the team lose?

OK, then. That sounds totally reasonable.

On what planet does that make sense?

So you just gave examples of TWO failures of his to actuallt fulfill his responsibilities.

Why do people make excuses for these people in the UK?

If he cannot do the job, he needs to MOVE ASIDE.

Its pretty simple.

Queen Letizia and her 16 year old daughter did and they have zero to do with football in Spain

You were saying something?

You're saying that like it's supposed to be a good thing. She took her kid out for a twenty thousand mile day trip at Spanish taxpayers' expense.

Is this a joke?

The Royal Family in the UK get 20x the taxpayer money as the Spanish Royal Family.

The Royal Family in Spain are quite literally the cheapest taxpayer funded Royal Family in Europe.

So try again.

The facts hurt sometimes.

But they have to be stated.

Magicoven · 20/08/2023 19:15

Sick of people centering men in conversations about women's football. Anyway no I'd find it weird if during the COL crisis with things crumbling and turning to shit he flew to Australia for a 90 minute game. I'm finding the effects of their recent successes much more relevant- I've been playing for and then later on managing our local women's team for decades now and we have more interest, more sponsorship and more girls wanting to play than ever before! It's brilliant, and these are the conversations I wish we were having rather than about whether 2 men were there.

Im a Republican but you really are choosing wrong battle, he doesn't need to attend people have told you he can't attend before his dad does.

And you also ignore rest of post about other sports funnily enough as. You are blinded by football.

This is true but don't underestimate how much more funding the grassroots womens leagues could receive with adequate FIFA funding

Infantino is a weirdo, but he is correct there.

WC matters, but the 'in between' years matter even more.
