To be furious at being woken at 6 every. Fucking. Morning

I live opposite a window cleaner.
it’s summer so windows are open.
Every morning his mate arrives at 6.00am and they have a very fucking loud conversation in the road before driving off to work about where the jobs are today, blah blah.

they wake me and possibly other neighbours
up every single day.

why can’t people be more considerate???

how have you asked neighbours nicely to STFU?

OP posts:
popcornfrenzy · 20/08/2023 00:38

My dust men seem to channel Blur's Parklife and rudely awaken me on a Wednesday Morning, bloody 05:30 as my road is the first on their list - even with my windows closed and I can't bear earplugs.

YANBU OP - 06:00 am is a bollocks time and you should ask him to STFU

6 is a perfectly reasonable time to wake up

It really isn’t. Fine, if you want to or your job requires it. But don’t impose it on other people.

I could as well say “oh midnight’s a perfectly reasonable time to still be up” and come and talk under your window every weekday evening at midnight.

Hibiscrubbed · 20/08/2023 00:43

Lean out of the window, “guys, every morning you wake me with your loud chat about where you’re working. Do you think you might be able to keep it down so I can sleep?”

Notcontent · 20/08/2023 00:46

If we applied panko’s logic, no one would ever get any sleep and we would have bus people falling asleep on the job, etc.

You could argue that one neighbour has the right to blast their music until 2 am, while another can start DIY at 5 am…

and I love how some people always suggest ear plugs. I have tried many different ear plugs over the years, and are yet to find a pair that actually work.

6 is a perfectly reasonable time to wake up

yes, but only if it’s your choice, it’s not a reasonable time to be woken up by your neighbours.

transformandriseup · 20/08/2023 00:53

YANBU hardly anyone is up at 6 in our village so any talking at this time would seem louder than normal. Maybe open a window and go "shh" loudly. They probably don't realise how noisy they are.

Summertiempo · 20/08/2023 00:53

Greensleeves · 19/08/2023 22:47

@panko is a bit bonkers 😜

Of course 6am is a perfectly reasonable time to wake up, if that is your preference/routine/required for your job. It's also a perfectly reasonable time to be fast asleep. It's therefore extremely inconsiderate to make loud noise in a residential area at that time of the morning. Have a word with your neighbour and ask him to keep it down.

Any chance Panko is the windowcleaner?

6 is a perfectly reasonable time to wake up

Nope

Mikaylaschofield · 20/08/2023 01:08

Felt like this when I became a mum

Vitriolinsanity · 20/08/2023 01:10

Have you walked across the road and asked them to keep the noise down?

I know it's an OUTRAGEOUS suggestion, but it might help.

ginnytin · 20/08/2023 01:11

I had a word with two elderly men who always talk at the front of the houses early morning. This was a Saturday and a bit later than 6am, and I was going out to Saturday Pilates class. I pointed out, really politely in a semi-joking way, that given it was Saturday morning and curtains were closed still that our neighbours might not yet be awake.

I think they took the hint.

TheWayoftheLeaf · 20/08/2023 01:14

Shut your windows and get a fan. You can't control others only your environment.

Maybe for you, never been a time I've woken up.

6 is a perfectly reasonable time to wake up

First bloody comment 🙄

Shift workers.

JanglingJack · 20/08/2023 01:28

Our neighbour likes to let there Alsatians out at 4.30.

Or, maybe they don't take them in. It's usually until 10pm and then sunrise.

They're neighbours over the back so not next door. If I was next door I would have properly raged by now.

Speak to him? Shut your windows?

PyongyangKipperbang · 20/08/2023 01:28

I think a "WILL YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!" out of your window could do the trick.

I am not sure which neighbour of mine did this last summer when there was a man over the road who got a lift to work from a mate who thought that heavy bass music at 4.30 am was perfectly ok. He waited until a break in the music and yelled this (admittedly whoever it was had a very loud deep voice so sounded quite butch!) but it never happened again!

Ghosttofu99 · 20/08/2023 01:28

panko · 19/08/2023 22:29

And shut your windows and get some earplugs

It’s not reasonable to shut windows in August. If it was a child shouting in the street at 6 am it would be seen as unacceptable.

CrotchetyQuaver · 20/08/2023 01:31

Can't you just open your window, stick your head out and tell them to pipe down as not everyone is up as early as them?

Vitriolinsanity · 20/08/2023 01:36

@CrotchetyQuaver in normal world that's precisely what happens

In MN world o E does not open one's front door to unannounced callers, let alone a <gasp> window!

6 is not some ridiculous time of night though. Yes it might be annoying but lots of people are up and about by then

Anyway OP , if you've shut your window and got ear plugs in and they still wake you then just have a polite word.

GreyGoose1980 · 20/08/2023 06:49

I’d speak to him politely about it OP. I think the fact he’s a window cleaner and the chat is work related is helpful in this situation as he’s not going to want to come across as unprofessional or annoying his potential local customers do hopefully will take your comments on board.

Somewhereovertherainbowweighapie · 20/08/2023 06:52

You need to talk to him or leave a note. He may not realise you can hear him.

panko · 19/08/2023 22:28

6 is a perfectly reasonable time to wake up

That's not the point! Waking up to a loud noise everyday is!

Scalottia · 20/08/2023 07:04

Rosscameasdoody · 19/08/2023 23:34

Coffee coming out of my nose now ! 😀

Sure it is 🙄

All these posters with their witty retorts...such as 'I would ger the super soakers out' etc...yeah, sure you would.

And 6am isn't that early. However I do agree that he is being a dickhead. I wish people would be more considerate and not conduct loud conversations in the street, at ANY time of the day. No-one wants to hear it so bugger off. That includes irritating dog walkers too.
