I live opposite a window cleaner.
it’s summer so windows are open.
Every morning his mate arrives at 6.00am and they have a very fucking loud conversation in the road before driving off to work about where the jobs are today, blah blah.

they wake me and possibly other neighbours
up every single day.

why can’t people be more considerate???

how have you asked neighbours nicely to STFU?

Anyone else wondering how long panko has been cleaning windows? 🤔😂

Or driving a milk float, or delivering mail for the Royal Mail! Grin

Funnily enough the '6am is a perfectly decent time to wake' brigade are probably in bed for 9.30pm as they wake so early... I think I will go to @panko's house and play full blast thrash metal music outside her bedroom window at 1.00 am. After all that's a perfectly reasonable hour FOR ME to play loud music. So it should be OK for her too!

ThePoshUns · 19/08/2023 23:08

Have you asked him to keep it down?
I had a neighbour who's son had a noisy car, he left for 6 every morning, would rev his engine and make a racket waking my then baby up.
I politely knocked on the door and explained. The noise stopped.
You can talk to people you know!

switswoo81 · 19/08/2023 23:08

6 am is the middle of the night!!

Anyway yanbu..I would be tempted to have a super soaker or need gun and aim at them every morning .
My neighbours have got a super duper fancy new car that beeps very very very loudly when reversing. She sits in, puts in key then faffs with bag/phone for about 5 mins before she reverses out all while the feckin car is merrily beeping away. I have murderous thoughts every morning.

This ^ 😂

Speak to him or leave a note. Get ear plugs, buy a fan and start a noise diary with times, date, type of noise etc. It may not be needed once you've spoken to him, but useful IF you need to go to the council.

FreeRider · 19/08/2023 23:09

6am? I've usually only been asleep for a couple of hours. A decade of doing a job which involved having to make phone calls to Australia/USA has left me with chronic insomnia. I'd definitely be putting a note through his door telling him to keep it down.

FreeRider · 19/08/2023 23:10

*calls were during their business hours.

rumnraisinrocks · 19/08/2023 23:10

panko · 19/08/2023 22:44

And? You can still be awake at night

Are you being deliberately obtuse?

3am is also the night, would you be happy to be woken up then?

Have the decency to keep the noise down to a reasonable hour, of which 6am certainly isn't!

ManyMaybes · 19/08/2023 23:11

Any noises that could interrupt someone else’s sleep between 10pm and 8am should be avoided where not necessary, in my opinion.

It’s just inconsiderate and almost always not necessary to make any loud noise during this time.

You'd have thought the Tardis would've Disturbed (hehe) her before the metal music did!

Send a lovely note along with a box of chocs asking to please whisper when they see each other as you're a lazy cow who's never up that early or something else sweet and humble like that

Are you serious?

Cheeseandlobster · 19/08/2023 23:16

panko · 19/08/2023 22:28

6 is a perfectly reasonable time to wake up

Oh dont be so ridiculous. It's stupidly early for a lot of people.

Op - do you feel able to have a quiet word? They may not realise how disruptive they are being

ReadingSoManyThreads · 19/08/2023 23:16

I'd knock on your neighbour when he gets back from work and just say really politely, "Hiya, I'm across the road, is there any chance that you and your work mate could keep the noise down in the mornings as it wakes me up at 6am every day?" Hopefully, he's nice and not a shit about it.

Comedycook · 19/08/2023 23:18

panko · 19/08/2023 22:34

You might hate it. But it's still not an unreasonable time to be awake.

It's on the early side. It's not the small hours but it's quite reasonable to think lots of people will still be sleeping at that time.

Why do people write such wanky posts? It's clearly not reasonable to the OP.

My cat slaps my face every morning on the dot of 5.30 am!

Open the window and chuck the cat at panko.

LBFseBrom · 19/08/2023 23:20

I would be very unhappy to be woken at that unearthly hour, it's bad enough waking up naturally at 6. Sleep is important.

Have a brief word with him. Your neighbour and his 'mate' can have their conversation in the van. Alternatively, could you perhaps sleep at the back of the house? Though why you should rearrange your life because of this inconsiderate man I do not know.

UndercoverCop · 19/08/2023 23:21

My neighbour also gets picked up for work at 6, this also happened. I just asked him nicely if he'd mind keeping the volume down as it was waking me and the baby up. He apologised immediately, I don't think anyone chatting at that time is deliberately waking people up, they just don't realise the sound carries

BBno4 · 19/08/2023 23:21

I would shout
Shut the fuck up!
Out of my window

I work from home, and can work when I want to, as long as the work is done. On my work days, I often don't start til between 11am and 1pm. Sometimes later... And it's not uncommon for me to be working between 6 and 11 at night.

Then I go to bed at 12.30am to 1.00am. I'd lose my shit if someone kept waking me at 6am. DH works nights some weeks and gets in at 6.30am, and even he is really quiet and considerate. He pulls up on the driveway and comes in quietly, and goes to bed around 7.30am - in the spare room when he is on nights so he doesn't wake me.

The lass next door leaves for work at 7.00am, and we rarely hear her leave. AGAIN, considerate and thoughtful! I work til midnight some nights. I make zero noise! Yep, AGAIN, considerate and thoughtful! Not a rude entitled oik who thinks everyone should be awake and bright eyed and bushy tailed just coz I am!

airforsharon · 19/08/2023 23:24

I'm up between 5.30 & 6 every day, have been for years. But i appreciate the majority of people are not, so yanbu OP. 6am IS early, and he should be more considerate. I actually like being up so early as it's so quiet 😄

LongDarkTeatime · 19/08/2023 23:24

@Member786488 get your dressing gown and a mug ready. Next time it happens nip out, lean against the van with mug in hand and say “your morning chat wakes me up, so thought I’d come and join in” 😁
Am willing to bet it’d shut them up 😁

Green777 · 19/08/2023 23:25

panko · 19/08/2023 22:33

So if I didn't want to get up until 10 then it would be unreasonable for someone else to be noisy at 9 if I had the window open?

You’ve missed the point spectacularly or have pretended to.

Comparing 6 am and 9/10 am is also stupid

Canisaysomething · 19/08/2023 23:26

I favour a good old fashioned heckle out of the window for things like this. "Oi mate keep the noise down we're trying to sleep" or even just a massive "shhhh".

greyhairnomore · 19/08/2023 23:33

panko · 19/08/2023 22:28

Clearly not for OP. Not for me either if I'm off work and fancy a lie in.
