I live opposite a window cleaner.
it’s summer so windows are open.
Every morning his mate arrives at 6.00am and they have a very fucking loud conversation in the road before driving off to work about where the jobs are today, blah blah.

they wake me and possibly other neighbours
up every single day.

why can’t people be more considerate???

how have you asked neighbours nicely to STFU?

@panko is a bit bonkers 😜

Of course 6am is a perfectly reasonable time to wake up, if that is your preference/routine/required for your job. It's also a perfectly reasonable time to be fast asleep. It's therefore extremely inconsiderate to make loud noise in a residential area at that time of the morning. Have a word with your neighbour and ask him to keep it down.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 19/08/2023 22:48

Send a lovely note along with a box of chocs asking to please whisper when they see each other as you're a lazy cow who's never up that early or something else sweet and humble like that

Seagullchippy · 19/08/2023 22:49

It's hell. It happens to me every morning and I can't see who it is. Probably a car starting or doors slamming. I keep the windows closed and wear earplugs, but I'm still woken.

No it's fucking not!

6 is a perfectly reasonable time to wake up

You're only allowed to toot your car horn between 7am-11pm if it's not a total emergency, which implies that 6am is officially recognized as an ungodly hour

Deathbyfluffy · 19/08/2023 22:50

Do you own your house?
I’d look at having a proper A/C system fitted if you do and the house is a keeper - I sleep so much better and it only cost around £1k inc fitting.
No more noise, fixed temperature overnight, bliss!

panko · 19/08/2023 22:51

About half my street are up at 6/7am

Fantina · 19/08/2023 22:51

Our street seems to wake up around 6am and the noise continues on and off from then on for the rest of the day.

I close my window when loud motorbike resident heads off around 6 but it can be earlier as two neighbours who happen to walk their dogs at the same time every day and cross paths often have a loud chat outside my window around 7am so I try to go back to sleep for a while. But there’s also regular supermarket deliveries with slamming and sliding doors and chatter so it’s just life.

You could mention it to him and they might keep it down or you can close your window. Good luck, I hate being woken too but there’s not much we can do about it.

And? You can still be awake at night

You can be awake but you are supposed to be quiet and awake as council can take action on noise complaints between 11pm - 7am

panko · 19/08/2023 22:51

And I imagine the other half would appreciate it if you kept the noise down.

You might hate it. But it's still not an unreasonable time to be awake.

Yes it is.

Is it by you bellowing “Time to get up, it’s a reasonable hour!”

secretfreckle · 19/08/2023 22:55

6 am is absolutely not a reasonable time to be woken up, especially on a Saturday.
Every Saturday we have a scrap metal man driving round our village at 8 am screaming and shouting through a PA system. I am up at 4am every day in the week.

Don't be silly.

category12 · 19/08/2023 22:58

Shut your window.

WhateverMate · 19/08/2023 22:58

Anyone else wondering how long panko has been cleaning windows? 🤔😂

Hankunamatata · 19/08/2023 22:59

Ear plugs and sleep phones

Missrabbithasfaintedagain · 19/08/2023 23:00

People are insane. Anything noisy before 8am is unreasonable.

From 8am for car noise/going to work/workmen.
and on weekends id actually want to throttle anyone who lets their kids out to play before 9am.

Of FFS. I knew someone would come on and say this! No it's not. Not for MANY people. Hmm

@Member786488 Report this inconsiderate oik to the council. He's breaking the law.

😆 There's one on every thread like this isn't there?!

MillWood85 · 19/08/2023 23:03

Report him to environmental health at your local council. They take noise from businesses very seriously (and he would count as one).

Hollyhead · 19/08/2023 23:03

I don’t know anyone who isn’t up by 6😂 however, I do agree that it’s firmly within the ‘keep the noise down window’.
