Curiosity only. I feel like it’s pointless getting a ticket but every now and then I like to daydream.

I got 4 numbers several times the most was about £90 I think. That’s when I used to pick numbers, now it’s just lucky dip.

Colleague won £60k about 20 years ago. Another colleague’s mum won £140k.

I suspected one of DD’s friends mums had won the jackpot because she went from poor to rich overnight. It turned out she was in a relationship with a multi millionaire.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 19/08/2023 18:49

I've never bought a ticket, but I did win £14 on a scratchcard my mum sent me for my birthday over 20 years ago.

Silvers11 · 19/08/2023 18:51

About £1800 I think - can't remember exactly but it was around 1995 0r 1996. I had 5 numbers

According to Google that would be worth about £10, 700 today

Theacademicswife · 19/08/2023 19:09

£73 about 30 years ago plus the odd tenner.
I haven't done the lottery in about 12 years.

Merryoldgoat · 19/08/2023 19:13

Ooooh! I had a dream last night I won £7k!!

Just bought a ticket. I’m clearly going to be rich tomorrow 👌🏾

jarbelia · 19/08/2023 19:17

KMA2023 · 19/08/2023 19:21

For myself probably maximum of £10.
I do know someone who won a million and gave their house to their son who was in social housing.

Ellemeg82 · 19/08/2023 19:27

The most I've ever won is a free lucky dip!

My old next door neighbour won the euromillions raffle and won £1mill.

They still live locally but bought a much bigger and better house and a fancy car. But I still see them shopping in Aldi like me Grin

SgtPercyTwentyman · 19/08/2023 19:29

Enough to pay for a new roof (and boy did we need one).

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 19/08/2023 19:32

Haven't played it for about 15 years but once won £20.

CaputDraconis · 19/08/2023 19:37

My husband won about £800 in 2019

TheFormidableMrsC · 19/08/2023 19:51

AvocadotoastORahouse · 19/08/2023 20:32

Overrunwithlego · 19/08/2023 16:54

Me - £20

A friend - £3.9 million

Oh wow for your friend! Did he/she treat you at all?

Lovegossip · 19/08/2023 20:40

£2000 with 5 numbers in I think 2015, the following week 5 numbers winnings was £430

Aurora2023 · 19/08/2023 20:43

Partner knows people in our town here who won £63m in a syndicate. Yep. £63m. I don't know whether to be happy for them or cry into my soup with envy for the rest of my days

HowdoIrespond · 19/08/2023 20:47

Think the most us about £10, but usually just a pound or 2. I know someone who won £20K, but they had a lot if numbers and would usually have been 100,000s but lots of people had those numbers that week.

I often dream I've won big, big, like £100 million and the 1st thing I do is share it with friends and family. Keeping 30ish for me and my dc and sharing the rest with family/friends and local charities and people whose stories touch my heart (anonymously, though). I always wake up feeling so happy and blessed....... until I realise it was just a dream 😆

Overrunwithlego · 19/08/2023 21:09

@AvocadotoastORahouse We’ve always been very conscious that there shouldn’t be an expectation on them to ‘give us / treat us’. I saw some of their friends do so and the entitlement was quite surprisingly. Going out for dinner and not even bothinering to take a payment card as the presumption was they would be pay. So we’ve made sure if its one of their birthdays for example, we’ll pay for dinner. But if you were to add up over the years what we have paid for and what they had paid for then, yes, we’d probably owe them a little bit.

My dad won 40k on the football pools.

5foot5 · 19/08/2023 21:23

I only did it for the first couple of years or so. But one week in 1995 I got four numbers and won £94.

I was very pregnant with first DC so I spent some of it on baby clothes. I bought a lovely quilted one piece babygro and a beautiful little white outfit. For me I bought a flight simulator PC game because I had always wanted to try one.

The little white outfit got worn only once to bring baby home from hospital.

The quilted thing was too big until she was about 4 months old and then it was too warm for it to be any use.

The flight simulator was too difficult (or I was too thick) and I never even got to take off, I kept crashing while taxiing down the runway.

Heigh ho!

My dad won 40k on the football pools.

In the early 1990s, just before the lottery began, I was working at a customer site for a few weeks and while I was there an office syndicate won about £2 million on the football pools. At the time I think it was one of the biggest ever wins. I remember seeing them drinking champagne in the canteen before going to get the cheque and it was all over the local news.

There was quite a nice story came out of it actually. They had always kept the size of the syndicate limited to 25 and there was a waiting list to get in to the syndicate when someone left. Literally the week before the win someone had left. 😮 I know that doesn't sound all that nice, but what happened is the winners all chipped in a thousand or so each and paid off this man's mortgage.

truthhurts23 · 19/08/2023 21:48

£10 , i was so pissed the other day, the winning numbers were all one digit off from mine

LeilaDarling · 19/08/2023 21:48

Me: £100
a friend: £60,000
another friend: £80,000

That was nice of them. I've seen many stories of people leaving syndicates then them winning.
