Husband unreasonable air fryer demands

So. Can anyone solve an argument …
husband is demanding a ‘ ninja foodie flex drawer’ becuase he thinks it will be a good investment. on the other hand I think it’s a waste of money….. I mean we can afford it … but it feels extreme, we have an oven already ! Any one say it’s a life changer … if not I’m not interested !

I've got a ninja multi cooker. I use my oven maybe twice a month, it's the best thing I've ever bought!!

Vitriolinsanity · 18/08/2023 21:04

Game changer.

I have t used my oven since Boxing Day.

Octopus electric bill pah!

Regholdsworthswaterbed · 18/08/2023 21:12

No good if there are more than two of you. Air fryer was my biggest disappointment, I wouldn't bother.

This isn’t true at all 😂 I don’t eat processed food and make everything from scratch (I’m a chef!) and use it for pretty much everything - baked fish, quick pasta, buffalo wings, baked burrata, it makes the best garlic ciabatta croutons for Caesar salad!

I would love some recipes and ideas of what to cook please. I’ve had my ninja for 3 years and I’ve only successfully cooked sausages and chips in in and these aren’t cooked evenly even though is shake regularly

Toomuchtrouble4me · 18/08/2023 23:10

Air fryers are amazing simple, cheap and time saving. Plus healthier and easy to clean. Just make sure you get one with a basket.

The oven has lasted a few thousand years in one form or other.

These fussy fads fade fast.

But this IS another form!
They are excellent.

now unless it's a big casserole or a pizza

Hopper123 · 18/08/2023 23:21

I love our air fryer and looking to replace it with a ninja double draw one soon as ours is a cheaper 1 draw one amd I use it so much I want the bigger one so I can cook more than one thing or enough for 5 of us in one go. Best salmon ever comes out of that thing and everything else too. I only really use my oven for pizzas or full roast dinners now. It's also great for justvreheating things without then getting soggy in microwave like leftover chips etc. I would definitely recommend!

Also having the same argument with my husband. To me it's just another gadget that will get forgotten about or used rarely and will take up counter space!

Skodacool · 19/08/2023 09:47

If you have a smart meter you’ll see that the electricity cost is a fraction of the cost of a conventional oven.

I was very sceptical about the hype but DH talked me into it. We only use our oven for when we have pizza - and that's only because pizza won't fit in the air fryer!!

It's so much quicker.

I usually cut my pizza in half to fit a piece in each compartment, but my DD likes the mini pizzas so no problem.

Aprilx · 19/08/2023 10:55

We got a cheapish, smaller, single compartment one as it is just the two of us and we thought we would just test it out. It is a game changer. I wouldn’t mind upgrading to a larger one at some point, only I don’t really have the counter top space.

Overnightoats1 · 19/08/2023 11:03

I wanted one, my DH wasn't sure but it's been great! The key is getting the biggest one you can though if you have a large family . We can fit a whole roast chicken in ours. It's been brilliant and we barely use the oven now.

I can just get a whole chicken in, if I spatchcock it. I rarely use the oven now, unlesss I'm doing a lot of side dishes which would require too many different batches in the airfryer. They're great for reheating so you can cook roast potatoes in advance for example, and have them over a couple of days.

I waited until there was an Amazon Warehouse deal for mine and got it very cheaply.

OldTinHat · 19/08/2023 12:57

I have an old Ninja Foodi 7 in 1. Had it about four years.

I never use my oven anymore!

Shodan · 19/08/2023 13:05

Sorry, I don't get the love for it at all.

TBH I felt the same about breadmakers/ice cream makers etc too.

I do batch cook a lot though (casseroles, ragu, soup etc) so probably isn't as useful for my purposes.

Yeah it won't replace a saucepan that much.

The 7 in 1 is brilliant. Pressure cooker, oven, air fryer.

Lilithlogic · 19/08/2023 16:04

I have three airfryers, a ninja two drawer, a cosori one large drawer and one with a rotisserie. I use them to bake, roast, basically anything I'd do in an oven but a lot cheaper. Just made a quiche in my cosori one. I also have a couple of different sized instant pots that I love.

T1Dmama · 19/08/2023 19:30

Well I bought one and it’s great for meat. But I’ve not thought much or anything else I’ve cooked in it and wouldn’t buy another one

Duechristmas · 19/08/2023 19:37

We find it great for cooking individual meals and snacks for teens but still use the oven to cook family meals. I wouldn't be without it but it isn't in my kitchen, it's in the conservatory with the washing machine.

tjugofem · 19/08/2023 19:37

Bought an air fryer almost 5 years ago and it's resulted in my oven being nothing more than a decorative item.

HarrietPoole · 19/08/2023 19:51

Jack80 · 18/08/2023 19:12

We now only use the oven for pizza and jacket potatoes. It’s the future having an air fryer. x

Why aren't you baking potatoes in the air fryer? Cook in literally half the time, and are every bit as good, crispy skin and everything 😊

Also great for roasting potatoes, parsnips and carrots.
