To consider getting a Brazilian wax

Never had one before as it seemed like a lot of trouble and wasn’t something I particularly felt the need for, I usually just shave and trim. Previous bfs have seemed to be fine with that (and of course I believe it’s up to me what I want to do anyway).

For some reason, no idea why, I’ve been recently feeling it’s something I might like to do. Not currently in a relationship so it’s not because of that, I just fancy being hair-free. Am I insane? Will it be expensive and incredibly painful? What are people’s experiences?

Wax* not shave.

Why do men, by and large, not remove their pubic hair? Seems to be nearly always women who do it.

I don't know but the sexual sensitivity (esp during oral) when you whip it all off is unreal - to the extent I now consider removing my pubic hair to be a sex-positive act (regardless of whether it's a man, woman or toy I'm playing with). Try it, it's lovely.

ToTheMax0 · 18/08/2023 18:51

I wouldn't but then feel like I'm in the minority for only tidying mine up. Makes me feel bad at times but I really just cannot be bothered.

Its the best thing I ever did

Has your life been very uneventful? The best thing has been having your pubes pulled out? 🤨

I just woke the cat up by laughing. He glared at me a few times, then went back to sleep.

I wax all day and not one of my intimate Waxing clients do it for a partner, they all do it for themselves.
Find somewhere that uses Lycon, you should be in, undressed, waxed, paid, rebooked and out the door within half an hour.

Just so you know what happens...
I leave the room and ask my clients to remove everything waist down (bar socks in winter), use the wipes provided and lay on the couch and cover themselves with a towel (the towel is only for modesty)
I come back in when you're ready and ask you to get in a frog position (knees out, feet together) I put wax in on both sides so while one side is drying I'll remove the other, I'll often put wax on multiple areas. When that's done I get you to bring your knees together and hug to your chest so I can wax your bum area (weirdly this bit doesn't hurt)
Make sure you go somewhere that uses gloves and doesn't double dip.
You must only have intimate waxing with hot wax but not all hot waxes are created equal - cheap shit ones are just that.
Don't hold your breath as tensing makes it hurt more and never get waxed if you need a wee, that hurts more too.
You'll be fine :)

Lol
I walk in, immediately strip off trousers and knickers and get up on all fours on the table, all the while chatting to the lady.
No modesty what so ever 😁

@FarmGirl78
They do everywhere, the hot wax is a large amount and it takes it all off. They do your butt too! But this is why I always go to a specialist wax place, not a beauty salon that does everything. I want someone who sees vaginas all day long haha

I had the same question! I really hate the hair “just inside” and for me that’s one of the reasons I want it done.
Next question, how do I find a specialist was place and how do I know if they’re any good? We have general beauty salons in my town but I have no idea how to find a specialist. How do I get a recommendation? I have absolutely no-one I could ask!

faban · 18/08/2023 20:28

Ive had 3 and after each one swore I would never again. My last one was for my honeymoon and I have never/ will never again. They're so painful!

bryceQ · 18/08/2023 20:28

I just go to a place that's only waxing called Strip, but I live in London.

If you're on fb I would do a search in local groups for recommendations.

If neither of those I'd just go to an upmarket looking salon and pray 😂

I don't do Facebook. Where's Strip? I work in London.

bryceQ · 18/08/2023 22:24

They have a few branches across central like soho, Islington etc

Why not?
Regular long term waxer here. Can't say I've thought about it

Well out of courtesy to the waxer one wouldn't have sex beforehand, and if you remember back to your very first wax, the area can be tender afterwards.

I assumed she meant after the wax!

YellowMonday · 19/08/2023 01:28

@Dolores87 it really helps me with ingrowns. I also use an ingrown cream which doubles as a moisturiser, and being hairless makes this much easier to apply. When I have an ingrown, it's also much easier to spot treat.

StarlightLady · 19/08/2023 07:18

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I meant that l wouldn’t recommend having sex soon after being waxed, hence l said same day. The area is ultra sensitive afterwards hence it could be uncomfortable. It’s fine the next day though.

timetogoawa · 19/08/2023 10:09

Laser, laser, laser!
Love it!
I've got dark hair and light skin - worked beautifully on me - no more ingrown hairs and broken veins.
The laser cleared my spotty skin too (added bonus!).

So lovely to get rid of loads of pubic hair that used to get blood clots in when I had my period (sorry if TMI).

Liberating to wear shorts and swimming costumes without having to plan defuzzing beforehand.

As soon as she is old enough, my 15 year old will have 3 sessions on her lower legs to get rid of some of the hair - no more shaving and cut legs for her!

Ask around for recommendations- I go to a specialist laser clinic chain in London.
Also ask for best offer available.
Start in the winter time and hopefully decrease fuzz by this time next year.

No. I'm not a beauty therapist or on commission.😆

Porn 😂I’ve never watched porn and get all mine off! Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!

Ive had a full wax for 10 years. I’d never go back, confirmed during covid when I couldn’t get it done. £30 every 5 weeks. It hurts, not unbearable and it’s 100% worth it!!!

No, the women getting it haven't necessarily watched porn, but they're acquiescing to societal pressures to remove all their pubic hair which is very much driven by porn, and has driven men's expectation that a woman should be completely hairless from her eyebrows down.

ThreeLittleDots · 19/08/2023 11:07

I started removing body hair when I was 10. I certainly wasn't watching porn or cared about what men supposedly wanted. I prefer to be smooth.

40andlovelife · 19/08/2023 11:28

Nah we're not all that weak. Women remove hair because it's more comfortable and looks miles better and more feminine

40andlovelife · 19/08/2023 11:29

Also plenty of hairy muffs in porn

StarlightLady · 19/08/2023 11:42

@Pippa12 - No societal pressure on me. It’s called choice. Nobody tells me what to wear, not to wear or hairstyle, either on my head or elsewhere. Women can think for themselves, including those who do not sport a bush.

Men’s expectations? Not all women are heterosexual. lt is also interesting to note that not one poster on this thread has criticised someone who chooses to keep their pubic hair.

According to Google, “Hairy” is a commonly searched porn term. So maybe the pressure boot is on the other foot?

Life is easier in swimwear, during a period and even having a wee.

Nobody takes up the issue of men shaving their faces.

ThreeLittleDots · 19/08/2023 11:43

Women remove hair because it's... more feminine

No, I disagree with this. It's not unfeminine to NOT remove body hair. This is just a stupid gender stereotype. There are plenty of men who prefer to remove body hair.

Gonna have to agree to disagree. I see body hair as masculine hence why I like body hair on men

Excessive body hair is masculine.

But pubic hair, armpit hair are both very prominent on men and women. Men's pubes are not longer than women's, necessarily. It doesn't make sense that armpit hair on men is fine but on women is eeeuuughhhhhkkkk.

Side note: get why people don't want hair on those areas. Speaking about perceptions

frazzledasarock · 19/08/2023 12:05

I find armpit hair on men yuck.

Bananananananananana · 19/08/2023 12:15
