Guess how much it cost…

Local corner shop, SW London, kind of a coop franchise. I bought the following 5 items:

6 pack co op frankfurters
small deli tub of large green olives and garlic
500ml Pepsi max
small punnet blueberries
small punnet raspberries

Guess how much it cost. I’m utterly shocked.

It's a Nisa, right? Not the actual Co-op. They set their own prices but are supplied by Co-op, and you don't even get to use your member card (for the 2 x 20-50p discount). I got 2 pizzas and Ben & Jerry's for a fiver at the Co-op this week, pretty happy with that.

It’s weird. It’s a stand-alone shop and stocks SOME coop stuff but plenty of non-coop stuff too that you’d find in a typical corner shop and also more upmarket stuff too owing to location.

Fancy flowers and plants, machine that does freshly squeezed juice.

It’s maybe more like a Cullens used to
be? Maybe a cross between Coop and a Bayley and Sage.

13 quid

That is definitely too fancy to be a Nisa Grin there is a similar shop in Walthamstow, stand-alone but also Spar branded and sells Co-op goods. Well pricey! Maybe there's a massive fee for unbranded franchisees?

That’s the thing - my local proper co-op has always seemed ‘fine’ so I just assumed it would be the same at Chez Swizz.

I’m invested now.
