Guess how much it cost…

Local corner shop, SW London, kind of a coop franchise. I bought the following 5 items:

6 pack co op frankfurters
small deli tub of large green olives and garlic
500ml Pepsi max
small punnet blueberries
small punnet raspberries

Guess how much it cost. I’m utterly shocked.

Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2023 20:40

I’ve done an approximation

Pepsi £2.50
Olives £4.50
franks £4.00
blueberries £3.50
raspberries £3.50

That’s insane. Did you not mentally add up the figures as you went along?

Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2023 20:42

Cowlover89 · 16/08/2023 20:37

Thats ridiculous

I honestly thought I was going mad.

the price of 500ml soft drinks is ridiculous in some places now.

No - I don’t look at prices when food shopping.

I know that’s extremely fortunate and I’m lucky enough to earn decent money so whilst I’ve noticed the price creep it hasn’t been a problem (albeit unwelcome).

£2.50 for 500ml of Pepsi max seems really off.

And I kind of ‘know’ (or USED to) how much stuff cost so just got caught.

Our little local coop always has 2 punnets of soft fruit for £4 deal on.

That's a ridiculous total.

LIZS · 16/08/2023 20:49

£20

Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2023 20:49

I just added the items to a Sainsbury’s trolley - £10.58.

I’ll be planning better moving forward.

I had a similar experience in a makeup shop. Bought foundation, cover up and mascara - £100.

I was going to say £18 Sadly I'm not surprised
Olives, blueberries and raspberries are luxury items but bloody frankfurters & Pepsi what we're you thinking ? Grin

I’m surprised it took so long before someone asked about the lunch components.

Keto plus period plus horrific night with my little bugger of a child - needed meat, something with SOME nutrients (berries and olives) and caffeine.

Forgiven then @Merryoldgoat

Next time just add some salami, cheese and chocolates

Soakitup37 · 16/08/2023 21:11

I guessed £18 before I looked at the answers. My guess

6 pack co op frankfurters £2.99
small deli tub of large green olives and garlic £4.50
500ml Pepsi max £2.99
small punnet blueberries £3.50
small punnet raspberries £3.50

coop are completely rip off expensive. I have one a min walk to me but I have only used it in emergencies and lockdown.

Soakitup37 · 16/08/2023 21:13

The fruit aren’t a great option on keto btw, only frozen is best to keep the sugar content low. But sympathise, keto generally is harsh and defo not a diet to try and plan for on the hop.
