@JulianFawcettMP you mean because it’s flown over ? I actually didn’t know though it was from china till I checked the tracking. It was on Amazon and just looked really nice

If they didn't sell, shops wouldn't put them out so early.
People buy early for xmas, eat them, buy again etc. Shops make a fortune out of lack of willpower.
Plus you can guarantee come Xmas Eve, empty shelves, endless customers asking "Where's all your chocolates" We have it every single year, same with Easter Eggs that will replace Xmas chocolates on 27 Dec.

This is it. You’d be surprised at how high sales of seasonal lines can be months before the event.

Halloween confectionery lines should drop in the first two weeks of September.

Impulse lines (ie items in the OP) in smaller stores will have entirely sold out by November as well. Then the focus will be on the higher margin products- tubs, biscuits, gifting chocolate etc.

It seems early but it’s the way it’s always worked in retail. Easter lines usually get delivered on Nov/early Dec for the changeover after Christmas. It’s all just sitting in the stockroom waiting to go.

Was in Asda today, they'd changed it all around ( the evening before dc all go back to school as if we aren't stressed enough 😅) shelves were so out of pretty much everything, I'd have probably complained if I'd seen this. Concentrate on supplying what we need now please Asda 🙄

JulianFawcettMP · 15/08/2023 22:58

@Annaishere that is exactly what I mean. We have to stop this stuff

Rubbishagain · 15/08/2023 23:03

Now we just need Christmas music!!

DappledThings · 15/08/2023 23:03

Why isn't extra stock ordered then so it is still available on Xmas Eve?

elsbelsx · 15/08/2023 23:04

I love Christmas 🥹 genuinely can't wait for the cold weather to be back 😍

Annaishere · 15/08/2023 23:05

@JulianFawcettMP well I haven’t been on a plane before so maybe I have air miles credit for the wrapping paper

JulianFawcettMP · 15/08/2023 23:08

@Annaishere I understand what you are saying and I am far from perfect but there are domestic alternatives and we have to stop this now

Badbudgeter · 15/08/2023 23:09

JulianFawcettMP · 15/08/2023 22:47

@Annaishere I'm no eco warrior and I so a lot wrong but how can you justify buying wrapping paper from china? That's shocking

In all fairness most of the wrapping paper you see comes from China. Does it matter if Asda import it by the container load and then sell it to the consumer or the consumer buys direct and they package it and ship with a bunch of other stuff? I suspect the difference is fairly neglible.

shams05 · 15/08/2023 23:09

They're probably taking up valuable cooler space in the warehouse so out they've come!

I think this happening all over the country. DS 21 pretty much said the shelves are bare especially in the pasta aisle. He told me the store had changed aisles around too 😂

JulianFawcettMP · 15/08/2023 23:13

@Badbudgeter completely agree. We have to stop buying it no matter the route. I know times are hard but they will be much harder for our descendants if we don't. I sound like a bloody protestor and I'm not qualified for that. I do loads wrong but there are easy wins

Topee · 15/08/2023 23:13

This makes me happy!

Annaishere · 15/08/2023 23:15

@JulianFawcettMP i suppose but it seems we’re past the tipping point now and will need to invent machines to clean the atmosphere

PickAChew · 15/08/2023 23:17

Even in the late 80s, the first Christmas stuff appeared in the shops in August.

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 15/08/2023 23:19

Went bowling last week and they had a Christmas tree up - really annoyed me!

JulianFawcettMP · 15/08/2023 23:19

@Annaishere you might be right and I will be dead before it really kicks in so not my problem but I just think we should avoid obvious and avoidable damage. Here endeth the lesson 😎

Neena86 · 15/08/2023 23:22

I work in the bakery in a supermarket and we are starting mince pie production in a couple of weeks. They are the bane of my life from September to December 😭🤣

Motherofjessie · 15/08/2023 23:30

Costco has Christmas chocs and lots of decs too! They are usually very early though.

Cornishprincess · 15/08/2023 23:30

An Asda nearish to me has a Christmas tree up and decorated in the foyer!

Blossomandbee · 15/08/2023 23:31

The Range is full of Christmas stuff. Utterly ridiculous

Buggersticks · 15/08/2023 23:33

Home Bargains have their Christmas stuff out too, on the next aisle to the Halloween gear. It feels like it gets earlier every year.

Drews · 15/08/2023 23:35

Are they still going to be in date by Christmas?
