I'm inclined to think we've been scammed. Am I being unreasonable?

The money donated during Covid went direct to the NHS Charities fund and is all safe. It’s the money donated later that is at issue.

MrsImFedUpOfTheWeather · 15/08/2023 22:06

@Smartiepants79 Not when I've been conned out of money - no. I'd like some answers.

And where in the NHS charities fund did it end? Enquiring minds would like to know.

If the public were stupid enough to fall for all of this nonsense (and many of them were), then one has to have a sneaking admiration for the PR job that she did. Frankly, I never understood why a man walking round his garden became some kind of "hero". It was all sentimental claptrap, as was so much of the stuff reported early in the pandemic.
However, at best, we now see that someone who is good at PR clearly knows very little about running a charity, and so has come unstuck.

MrsImFedUpOfTheWeather · 15/08/2023 22:10

Ouch. Well - I was a mug. I won't be in future.

Taking the old boy on a long haul holiday during a pandemic where he caught COVID off Russ Abbott and ended up in GRAVE.

I had heard he got covid in his holiday but from Russ Abbott????? I wonder if it happened at a party with a happy atmosphere…..

(sorry to anyone under 40 who has likely never heard that dance floor classic 😂)

I feel like I want my money back, that I foolishly donated.

The initial money did all go to the NHS it was the subsequent charity they set up with the issues.

MrsImFedUpOfTheWeather · 15/08/2023 22:07

Thats for the charity to disclose but they DID get the money thar people donated via JustGiving. It was raised for the NHS Charities & given to them to distribute

Anything after that is decidedly dodgy though

MrsImFedUpOfTheWeather · 15/08/2023 22:13

If they'd done anything good with it we'd have heard about it.

Horrendous profiteer. Building a spa and trying to get round planning permission by pretending it’s for the company. Taking the old boy on a long haul holiday during a pandemic where he caught COVID off Russ Abbott and ended up in GRAVE.

To be fair it was hardly tragically young!

ParkheadParadise · 15/08/2023 22:17

I thought Russ Abbott died years ago 🤷‍♀️

Oh god, I can’t stop laughing.

This really tickled me too

MrsImFedUpOfTheWeather · 15/08/2023 22:22

Food and wellbeing for staff? That's questionable for a start. That isn't what people thought they were donating to. I'd like to see how that money was spent.

Never again will I give to a 'charity'. Charities are for fools.

Russ Abbott??

Just googled. It could have been Cliff Richard.

MrsImFedUpOfTheWeather · 15/08/2023 22:24

Were they so rich they could single it down?😂

I knew she was a wrong un right from the start. Me and DS1 said something like this would happen right from the get go. You couldn’t say anything other than how great they were, at the time, without being vilified. When she took him on his holidays and he caught Covid, Piers Morgan had a whopping tantrum about how the haterz were upsetting poor Hannah.

She did everything she coukd to thrust herself him into the spotlight. It was always about fame and money for her. She’s an awful woman imo.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2023 22:28

Glad I didn't donate. I didn't think it was that wonderful at the time abs looks like I was right.

waterlego · 15/08/2023 22:29

I’m also confused and tickled by the mention of Russ Abbot.

Our local hospital charity received a share and it was put towards the completion of a much needed new neo natal unit.

Daineseturbo · 15/08/2023 22:31

absolute grift. I live locally, I will rejoice when they send the bulldozers in to tear down their massive spa extension.

In case the grifter is reading this, I’ll be the one with my bag of popcorn, camping chair and binoculars sitting opposite when the JCB rolls through the front gates. Joyful.

drpet49 · 15/08/2023 22:32

CuteOrangeElephant · 15/08/2023 21:29

Total scammer. It was a grift from the start.

This.

Prometheus · 15/08/2023 22:37

Maybe I’m cynical but if people were daft enough to donate money to some random old guy walking in circles around his garden then they deserve to be parted with their money. I’d never donate to a charity that was just some random person asking for money and you have to take their word that it will go to good causes.
