To think Vaping is as anti-social as Cigarettes.

I'm becoming increasingly irritated by vapes, everywhere I go there are people surrounded by a cloud of sickly smelling chemicals.
At a gig this weekend every group of people had at least one vaper constantly puffing.
Why do people think its OK?
My other bug bear is the discarded disposable ones 😡

I find vaping irrationally irritating for the same reason, the hunched surreptitious posture with the hand over it when people are doing it in places they kind of know they wouldn't be allowed to smoke but think they can get away with vaping, it just looks a bit pathetic.
Smoking is vile to me but I understand that many smokers have been doing it for years, it was extremely widespread in the past and they are physically dependent by now, I just don't get the point of vaping.

I work in life insurance. Yes you do and it will put you on smokers rates. Although AIG are more lenient and don't always put you on smoker rates.

I vape and I think the rules are pretty unfair as do many customers but tiz' the rulez

It is becoming increasingly clear that vaping is not good for people and should only be a last resort alternative to smoking - definitely not a leisure pursuit.

And don't tell me what I prefer. Vape is vile. Cigarette smoke (outside) isn't so bad. It's not allowed inside so we don't go home from pubs with stale smoke on our clothes and hair anymore.

To those who thinks vaping looks ‘unattractive’ ‘stupid’ etc, I can confirm that this matters to me as much as if you thought my shoes/handbag/hair/outfit etc look unattractive and stupid…i.e not at all. Whether or not I appear attractive or intelligent to strangers is v far down my list of concerns.

I agree Op the amount of smoke that comes off a vape is ridiculous especially when people use them indoors anywhere and they all smell disgusting. They smell outdoors as well but indoors it lingers for much longer 🤢

I’ve just done a little experiment. Shut myself in my downstairs toilet (very small room) and took a big puff on a melon-flavoured vape (so a fairly strong, instantly recognisable scent/flavour) , then asked DP to come in and see if he could see or smell it. He could see the tiniest plume of vapour and couldn’t smell anything at all. If I’d lit a cigarette in there, the whole house would smell within minutes. It is in no way comparable to the smoke or smell from cigarettes.

Where are these ‘huge stinking vape clouds’ people are talking about?

I don't vape and I've not smoked in many years, but you people whined about us smoking and said we were killing you. Now you want people to be prevented from vaping and you can't say it's dangerous so you don't have any right at all.

It is certainly anti-social to try and control everyone around you and we might reasonably start threads about people like you.

You are also exhaling and we're breathing in air laden with your stink.

Then just walk a foot further away? Vapor stays very close to the person. You’d need to be very close to them to be breathing it in.

I can't put my finger on why but I always find the hand wringing posts about cigarette smoke so spoilt and childish.

You've clearly not read the threads that come up regularly about perfume, candles and air fresheners. Smells do affect some people strongly.

I haven't seen any of those threads come up regularly, you must be on mumsnet a lot of the time to have pointed that one out
