You just eat it on the paper/out of the box right?? 🙈😂

I always eat from the wrapping, Dh thinks I’m mad.

I’m not mad, I’m northern. 😂

JaukiVexnoydi · 11/08/2023 17:55

We always use plates as one "large chips" from our chippy is enough to feed the whole family, and there's usually sides like onion-rings etc being shared between more than one person, so doling out fair shares onto plates makes sense.

If I had an entire package which was just for me I would put the paper onto a plate for stability if I was at home, but I wouldn't actually pour the stuff onto the plate.

StripyHorse · 11/08/2023 17:55

Plates at home so the chips can be drowned in curry sauce / gravy - and also because portions are HUGE at our favourite chippy so we need to share them out.

Paper all the way when we are out though.

On a plate with a knife and fork unless sitting on the wall at Arbroath Harbour or up the Law Hill in Dundee

I hope you walked up there, to burn off all the calories. 😉

OhYetAnotherBrickInTheWall · 11/08/2023 17:56

There are rules.

At the beach or any outside eating situation: out of paper (reject any establishment that serves in styro boxes). Little styro pots of mushy peas or mayo excluded.

At home: all on a plate. Extra mayo, salt, vinegar, bread and butter (for chip butties) are to be very much encouraged.

Anyone who adds tomato ketchup to the above, APART FROM to the chip butties, needs to get in the sea in front of the beach.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 11/08/2023 17:57

Normally use a plate. Often sharing some bits or the portions don’t come individually packed.

StripyHorse · 11/08/2023 17:57

That said, the bonus for the purchaser is pinching chips as they unwrap the package which taste better for being eaten straight from the paper 😉

Peachespeachesohpeaches · 11/08/2023 17:57

Plates at home, in the wrapper at the seaside.

BrendaMcPherson · 11/08/2023 17:59

PuttingDownRoots · 11/08/2023 17:50

How else do you divy up chips (and mushy peas etc for those who like such things)

I'm sorry but I don't understand the concept of divvying up chips. All the chips are mine.

ThePoshUns · 11/08/2023 18:00

Always put it on a plate unless I'm at the seaside

Moltenpink · 11/08/2023 18:00

Plate, spread out to put extra salt on

OnionBhajis · 11/08/2023 18:00

Yup plate at home as it doesn't come individually - large chips feeds us all, sausages in aseaparate wrap etc.

At the beach in the paper obviously.

Smidge001 · 11/08/2023 18:02

At home it has to be on a plate. You're the weirdo OP!

PurpleSteak · 11/08/2023 18:02

If I was eating it on the beach (the only acceptable place) I'd eat it from the paper, but definitely on a plate in the house.

LoonyLois · 11/08/2023 18:02

On a plate here too

AdoraBell · 11/08/2023 18:03

Fish and chips at home use plates.

Chips on the go just eat out of the paper.

AgnestaVipers · 11/08/2023 18:04

Not if I have brought it home, no.

WWYDIYWMRN · 11/08/2023 18:04

Always from the wrapping. Why create unnecessary washing up?!

TheChosenTwo · 11/08/2023 18:04

Straight out of the paper or box. Only ever eat fish and chips at the seaside, there’s one close to where we live but I never fancy it unless I can see the sea (sadly we don’t live by the sea).
And I don’t share chips!

BMW6 · 11/08/2023 18:04

Plate when indoors always

CurlewKate · 11/08/2023 18:05

We're divided 50:50 in this family. Doesn't mean that the weird plate-users aren't weird!

RightOnTheEdge · 11/08/2023 18:06

Always on a plate at home.
The fish is on top of the chips covering them up in a box! I need to spread them out to get plenty of salt and vinegar on.

MojoDaysxx · 11/08/2023 18:07

If I have a takeway fish and chips, then I'll eat it out of paper. Otherwise, straight onto a plate.

DemelzaandRoss · 11/08/2023 18:07

We have always used plates, knives & forks too. Also glasses for drinks, not out of the bottle.

YouAndMeAndThem · 11/08/2023 18:12

I always have to crisp the chips up in the oven otherwise they're soggy so definitely on a plate !!!
