… Margot? I do! I’ve watched the Barbie movie three times now and I’ve developed a girl crush on her for some reason. I’ve watched a few clips of her Barbie promo with Ryan and she just exudes cool, fun but also serious and mature energy. Never seen any of her movies before.

Pathetic but I’m considering her Barbie promo style a bit of a style inspiration. I’m trying to dress more girly and feminine now. I’m also losing weight too. She’s just soo cool and pretty.

I really envy her and Tom’s relationship/marriage even though I know nothing real about them. I wonder what is going on with me because I can recognise this is well weird and it’s only the last two weeks I’ve felt this way.

I’m not sure that her age given is her true age as she was the year below my friend at school and my friend is a few years older. Just saying! My friend isn’t lying either as has the whole school photograph with Margot’s name on.

Still, however old she is, she’s beautiful. Even in the unfiltered celebrity Insta page with no makeup, she looks incredible.

The only very unattractive thing here is your personality.

It really isn’t a crime if people don’t find her ‘beautiful’. Why are people taking it so personally?

To me, she is attractive / pretty, but doesn’t fall into the beautiful category. But that’s only because I find a different look beautiful.

Geez, everyone is allowed their own tastes and preferences - the bizarre defensiveness of some posters is nuts.

I think she’s pretty but she does look a lot older. It might be her slightly vintage style/look. I had mentioned in a previous post she looks like my former flatmate who is 40ish.

Either disbelieve them (anyone can say anything on the internet) or think ‘fair play’ for having the sort of self-belief we’re surely all trying to instil in our kids.

yes lucky them,and it’s all subjective so we can’t say they’re wrong. If they think they’re prettier than her - great! I’m all for people liking the way they look and appreciating their own beauty.

Some of her super fans here seem to be in a cult worshipping an actress who is making millions from the Barbie doll objectification of women under the guise of feminist wrapping.

Margot Robbie climbed up using her looks as her number one bargaining chip so yes her looks can be commented upon.

I agree that she looks older than 33, but I wouldn't say that she looks 45!

She's aged around the eyes for 33 year old, but that might be down to the stronger sun in Australia.

The hollow cheeks are also very ageing, but people say that this is down to botched buccal fat removal surgery.

Maybe, but actually I think it's more that she's in saturation coverage at the moment for obvious reasons. That triggers the "gotta show how much more discerning I am than the common mainstream" reaction in some people.

Oh, and of course not everyone who posts here is female, even if they don't say so, and remember there are a lot of very desirable and discerning men on the Internet determined to proclaim Margot Robbie as "mid".

i see it with commentary about taylor swift too. You don't have to love her songs, but she wrote them, and defended them, she stands up for her principles, she is strong enough to ''fight back'', her fan base spans several genres and she's achieved her success without any scandals. But yet over and over you read ''can't see what the big deal is''. Right.

Like I've said...I can certainly believe some people are happy in themselves and would not swap their looks for hers. I can also believe that she isn't everyone's type.

But anyone who claims they just don't get why she's considered a beauty, or that she's a totally average looking person, is talking really embarrassing levels of bollocks. (I'm not even going into when a Captain Obvious reminds us that Hollywood is full of very beautiful people.)

Sometimes the "must show my discernment as above the mainstream" reflex overreacts. As for the men declaring her "mid", well, we all know what they're doing behind the screen.

She's an absolutely brilliant actress. If you want to complain about an actress who has reached stellar heights on looks and absolutely no talent, go after Emma Watson if you want to be taken seriously.

I think she's pretty. I'm not going to compare myself as I would never have 'work done' (as has been suggested has happened by others here). Would I want to look like her? I'm sure there would be perks socially but really, probably not. She achieves a Hollywood type ideal that doesn't offer uniqueness and interest in the way people with more unusual, less classic, features do. I think she's a good actress and totally admit she's far hotter than me. Oh well. lol

yes, i saw Emma Watson in Little Women and her lack of acting ability was so marked in contrast to the rest of the cast. I think she saw it too, as she's retired I think.

I think Margot is mesmerising to watch on screen and she always comes across really well during interviews, a real likeable person.

I think she is beautiful and doesn’t need to try. She has amazing bone structure, great lips and eyes. No doubt she will still look stunning in her old age.

So yes, I would absolutely love to look like Margot, but maybe just for a day, to see what it’s like to be so beautiful 😆 I can imagine everywhere she goes, she’s stared at, followed around and like anyone in the spotlight, that must get difficult.

I'd say in this case, not even the looks are there*. She's got where she has in the acting industry off the back of Harry Potter fandom alone.

*Not saying she's ugly. She's just very ordinary, and ordinary combined with lack of acting talent does not usually make for a stellar Hollywood career.

@VibrantGreen Alison Janney is one of my favourite actors - she's been in so much, and shines in every part. She's also in Bombshell, which I mentioned upthread, in which Margot Robbie also stars (along with Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron). It's about the scandal of sexual harassment at Fox News, and is a really fantastic dissection of the choices all the women involved had to make about their careers v making a complaint.

I loved the West Wing series 1-3 and 7 when I first saw them (not so much 4-6). It came out at a time when we could believe that a man like the president in the series, President Bartlett, a good and intelligent, if flawed, man could do good in America, surrounded by a group of dedicated, intelligent. and morally upstanding aides. It's pretty hard to swallow in the modern era, imo. But you certainly learn a lot about the US political system watching it, and it's a great combination of comedy and drama.
