To think this lady is seriously underpricing these gorgeous bouquets of cupcakes?

They look so real I genuinely thought it was a bouquet of real flowers. She told me it took her 3 years to learn to do them to this standard. How much do you think she charges per bouquet and you can choose the colour theme too?

I wouldn't have a clue about price but they are amazing.

MatthewBroderick · 05/08/2023 23:06

Is that all edible? I’d pay £80+ delivered.

HelpMyHol · 05/08/2023 23:06

£30

fridaynight1 · 05/08/2023 23:08

£35

Nangnong · 05/08/2023 23:08

£30-40?

fivetriangulartrees · 05/08/2023 23:08

What's that, 7 cupcakes? I'd suggest at least £10 each plus delivery, so PP's £80 sounds about right.

plugin12 · 05/08/2023 23:10

Somewhere between £60 -£70

JMSA · 05/08/2023 23:10

Wow, I wish I were that talented! They're lovely.

LorraineInSpain · 05/08/2023 23:10

That looks like the same woman I ordered cupcakes from a couple of years ago - if it is, she charged £30 or £35 (can’t remember exactly) for 12.

TokyoSushi · 05/08/2023 23:10

Oh wow, at least £50

YourNameGoesHere · 05/08/2023 23:11

Definitely no less than £60. They look amazing and as someone who dislikes recieving real flowers I'd be beyond impressed to be given such a clever likeness but in cake form!

Poshjock · 05/08/2023 23:12

I recognise these. It's £30 for 7 and yes, very cheap.

5foot5 · 05/08/2023 23:12

They do look amazing, but I can't imagine what one would actually do with them. I have always found any kind of cupcake a great let down. I like cake as much as the next woman, but I have always found the actual cake part of cupcakes to be a disappointment while all that icing is just too, too sickly.

GenieGenealogy · 05/08/2023 23:13

I think you can see that people saying that they think £30 is reasonable is why you feel they are underpriced.

The cake ingredients, the fondant, the electricity for the oven, the decorating tools is going to be £15-£20 easily. And then 2-3 hours for the decoration, she's earning £3 an hour??

I'd be expecting to pay double that at least.

WestOfWestminster · 05/08/2023 23:13

I'm surprised by the comments here saying £80. Really? For 7 cupcakes? I would say more like £20/£25.

I think they are nicely decorated but it just comes down to them being 7 cupcakes at the end of it, with some fancy tissue paper?

Hummingbird89 · 05/08/2023 23:14

Probably around £50. They are beautiful, what a talent!

User63847484848 · 05/08/2023 23:15

I mean…. Yes in terms of the work involved they would seem to be under priced at £30 or £35 but on the other hand I wouldn’t want to pay the £60 or £80 that might be more appropriate for the time etc.
it won’t last and all that icing would be really sickly to eat

Dutchesss · 05/08/2023 23:15

There's 7 cupcakes, I'd expect at least £8 per cupcake so £56.

Nangnong · 05/08/2023 23:15

Tbf in my original thinking I was thinking £5 per cupcake …I’ve now looked and my local artisan chocolatier charges £7.50 a cake so I’d revise to £50 if she doesn’t have a physical premises

The ingredients and cost to make the cakes let alone decorate them would eat up lost of that £20 though. Honestly cake making is a very unappreciated and underpaid craft.

By that logic no one should pay much for actual real flowers as they're just a bunch of flowers but people regularly pay obscene amounts for bouquets.

User63847484848 · 05/08/2023 23:18

The problem is they’re only worth what someone will pay

monpetitlapin · 05/08/2023 23:18

Given the cost of a wedding/birthday cake with far less beautiful decoration is about £80-£100, and given that you'd probably only order something like this for that sort of major celebration, I'd expect about £80-£100.

All craft is. A friend handknits scarves for a premium brand. The scarves sell for £100+. Lots of sarky comments about who would pay that much for a scarf when they can get one in Primark for £2?

Yes but if someone's undercharging, no customer is going to go, "sorry can I give you an extra £50 because I'd totally have bought it at that price point."
You just have to test the market to pinpoint how much to charge.

Someone I've used for cupcakes in the past does floral bouquets like these. Her website lists them at the following prices:

Simple roses:
7 cupcakes starting from £21.
12 cupcakes starting from £36.

Mixed flowers:
7 cupcakes (up to 3-4 varieties) starting from £35.
12 cupcakes (up to 5 varieties) starting from £55.
