Why the lack of interest?

I've actually paid more attention to the womens world cup. Mainly because its about time womens sport had a similar profile to mens sport. My DD plays in another male dominant sport and I'm hoping the upsurge in girls football will rub off on her sport (Rugby) and create more playing opportunities!

One of my daughters plays county/academy level football and they make them use their left foot. They are given training schedules to strengthen their non dominate leg.

I'm.really enjoying the world cup.

God I love it, right into it. Sadly the dreadful kick off times aren’t helping I don’t think! I missed the China match because of it. Thankfully it’s easy to watch back. I’m a massive football fan and love watching the women. Haway lasses!

I'm not a football fan. Could be male or female match, I'd not watch either.

All footballers have to train their non dominant leg.

It doesn't mean they can't use the other one, they just need to practice with both.

I've been watching with my boys and it's been great. Fantastic match today and high hopes for success. We're big Villa fans and it warmed my heart to hear my 9 year cheer excitedly when Rachael Daly scored. Haven't watched much of the women's Premier league but am going to pay more attention next season. Brilliant that women's sport is becoming more accessible x

I (and DH) get really excited when the mens football is on, once we have got into the top 16. Banners and flags all over the house (#sorrynotsorry) and we watch all the England matches.

But as hard as we try, we cannot get into the womens game.

Can't say why. I really can't. Just can't put my finger on it. Will be nice if we win of course, but I feel very little passion for it. Doesn't help that it's on at 8 in the morning either... No-one in my village - or market town 10 minutes drive away - has any banners up either. Very little in the shops or pubs either... if anything.

I can honestly say at this point though, that the women play better than the men. And I do feel a LITTLE bit more interested than last time ... Eventually I think the furore and excitement for the womens football will equal the mens, or come close to it, but it's a long way off.

Have to say the Lionesses ARE great role models for girls!

To be fair my DH and DD who are sports mad are into it. But they’re not on mumsnet (too busy watching and talking about football).

Generally just not into watching sport, I quite like gymnastics because I think the strength, flexibility and skill needed is phenomenal, otherwise meh. I wish the team well though.

Why are women compelled to like women’s football. Most people don’t find it interesting and don’t care. You can’t force yourself to like it.

I didn't even know the womens world football was on. Another one here who has zero interest in football (or any sport in all honesty), or whether it's the mens or the womens. I do tend to avoid the news though.

I was a gymnast for a number of years I like sports that test the body. Maybe what annoyed me about football was how many footballers didn't behave like athletes . Pissed up in nightclubs , smoking 20 fags a day seriously bad lifestyles and paid high amounts for it . Fan behaviour as well . So just not interested .
