Why the lack of interest?

It’s only the group stages and they were generally expected to cruise through them. Which they have. You might find interest growls the further they go in the tournament.

But I think timing is also an issue - not many people will be up for watching a game at 9am on a Tuesday morning.

My DH is really enjoying the World Cup. I’m not that into football but am really into the womens cricket

Well I guess mostly men like to watch football. I haven’t met many women who do. Women football (although a good standard) still lacks in entertainment imho

Another not interested in football...even DH not that bothered and tbh I don't anyone who is now either make of female...

I don't think men watch football to get behind their sex...why should women? I'd be exhausted if I spent my life keeping track of (let alone rooting for) every ambitious woman.

I am middle aged and I play it! I have loved football since I was a girl being told 'girls don't play football!'

DP appears to be watching every match. Which is somewhat irritating, as it's our only time off together this year, but with strikes and the like, it's not as if we're going anywhere else.

Football's football. Don't care who's playing. Can't understand why it's even a thing.

My husband loves watching the women's football as they play better than men,he says.
They get tackled and no rolling around on the pitch for 10 minutes, like the men,nope up and playing again.

I'll watch when they reach the finals ... I've got faith in our team.

There may be more interest as it gets closer to the finals if England make it through.
I myself am not interested in football be it men or women playing, but I do wish the England women well and hope they win.

I watched a few minutes of it on my break at work. It was extremely boring. Just shuffling ball back and forth for ages and getting nowhere, Same with men's football, nothing ever happens. I just don't get it.

I've been interested in women's football for many years.
The sisterhood comment was my attempt at sarcasm

Think that about covers most of the criticisms I've just had.
As an aside I think il give the AIBU thread a wide berth.

I also resent being expected/forced to support anything just because it’s women playing

I like football and follow a mens and womens team. I even went to the women's Scottish Cup final a few weeks ago. However due to the timings I don't get to see many of this one. However I did see the England game today.

I'm very interested and have watched every game I can of all teams. Have been lucky and managed to watch all England games so far.

I am not on the thread or starting other threads because I don't have anything to contribute and I discuss the games with people in real life.

Hang on.. do men watch mens football because its other men? Or do they watch it because they like football? I'm not going to sit through 90 minutes of something I hate just because I'm the same sex as the participants
