To ask how much annual leave you have left?

popgoesthecat2 · 31/07/2023 17:54

We are 7 months through the year and have 5 months left of this annual leave year (assuming yours runs jan - dec.

My annual entitlement is 26 days plus bank holidays. I have taken 10, have 8 booked and 8 left to book. I can carry a week over.

My manager thinks having 8 outstanding days to book is a lot at this point of the year, but if I carry 5 over I only have 3 really.

How many days do you have left to book at this point/ what is normal?

Only taken 9/25 all to be used up by Christmas. 3 days at Christmas, a week in November got 4 off days ... what else shall I do???

Christmas shopping day? Christmas present wrapping day? (Depends how organised you've been!)

I often take an odd Tuesday or Thursday in December for that.

pinkpirlie · 31/07/2023 19:09

Mine is April to March, I have 27 days left but I go on mat leave in 7 weeks so will be saving all 27 days until next year. If I need to finish earlier I have 6 days of lieu I have accumulated the past month or so.

ActDottie · 31/07/2023 19:09

5 days left to book and have ten days booked for end of august

Exchange230316 · 31/07/2023 19:12

Get 33 days + 10 study leave + 13.5 Time Owed in lieu for additional responsibilities.

so far have about 12 days to take by end of January.

Exchange230316 · 31/07/2023 19:13

I also get bank holidays if not on-call

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 31/07/2023 19:14

I have 3.5 weeks left

GreenMarigold · 31/07/2023 19:14

I work 4 days an week and I get 18 days + bank holidays. Our holiday is managed on a calendar year and I have 8 days left, plus a couple of TOIL days I will accrue in September.

I’ll probably take Oct half term plus a few days around Christmas.

I am lucky that although they are not generous with holiday, they are very relaxed about when I book leave and I’ve never had a request refused.

OneTwoThreeShake · 31/07/2023 19:15

Runs the normal calendar year. I've got a week off this month, a week next month and I've had 3 weeks already. I've got 2 weeks left to book. I'll probably take a week in December and have a few long weekends in-between.

I can carry over but prefer not to.

MillWood85 · 31/07/2023 19:16

Own business, so bugger all.

Had 5 days off in March. Wouldn't be surprised if that's it for the year.

GivetheCataBone · 31/07/2023 19:17

I get 8 weeks a year but have to book quite well in advance. All my AL is booked until March next year. I have 1 day left unbooked to use in case of emergency

OhSmitty · 31/07/2023 19:19

I get 20 days and have to use a week over Christmas/ NY so I get 3 weeks over the year and I've use 2 in June. The next 5 days will end up getting scattered over the next 5 months.

AnnaNims · 31/07/2023 19:20

I get 33 days plus bank holidays. Ours runs april to March. I have taken about 15 days thus far. I usually end up losing leave as i get too much.

coxesorangepippin · 31/07/2023 19:30

After August 30 I have zero hours left. I've maxed out my vacation this year.

After that I start accumulating again. I'll have 5.5 days by Dec 1st.

MargaretThursday · 31/07/2023 19:35

It depends on how you want to calculate it.
Normally I have 20 days plus bank holidays. (part time)
If I wish to claim the days that I haven't claimed from the last few years due to covid and another significant issue at work, then I reckon I have about 90. 😁I like to tell my line manager occasionally that I'm going to claim them.

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 31/07/2023 19:36

Mine runs April to March, got 6 days booked over 2 breaks in August, 2 in December (we also get Xmas to new year shit down) and Ive got 10.5 days left. I always seem to end up with too much to take in the winter, so sell 3 days back.

pinguins · 31/07/2023 19:37

I get 24 and after bank hols and child illnesses I've got 2 days left so no holiday for us this year. I know it's illegal but I don't know what to do about it to get the extra 4 days without jeopardising my job which I really need.

pointythings · 31/07/2023 19:38

My leave year runs April - March. Started new job mid June (did the job via bank for 6 weeks before so no paid leave) and I get 33 days plus bank holidays. I've got 6 booked and have roughly 20 left to use until March. Carry over is at manager's discretion. It's a lot for me to have at this time of year but I'm planning 5 in October, 5 over Christmas, 5 in February in the week my birthday falls and we'll see about the rest. No school age children so I have a lot more flexibility!

LabbyDabbyDoohDah · 31/07/2023 19:39

One of the things I hated most about being employed was a limit to how much time I took off, and having to ask permission. The downside is no sick pay and having to make my own tax and pension arrangements.

I work harder as a freelancer but at least I can decide when and where I work. This year I’ve taken all the school holidays off so far and will take two weeks at October half term and three at Christmas, so 70 days in total.

shelbabab · 31/07/2023 19:40

I seem like I'm never there at the moment! I work part time 3 days but I carried forward a week from last year. FT it's 28 days plus 8 so 36 days holidays and I get x 0.6 of that. I get allocation of Monday bank holidays too as I'm off on Mondays which makes a difference 😀 I also get flexi time and usually end up with a week or two in flexi. Holiday year started in April and I will be having:

1 week off April
1 day in May
1 week in June
1 week and 1 day July
1 week August
1 week sept
1 week Oct
2 weeks at Christmas
1 day Feb

I'll prob have a couple of spare days to play with too well here's hoping.

cakecoffeecakecoffee · 31/07/2023 19:42

Mine runs September to September and I get 42 days, including bank hols.

I always cut it to the wire and struggle to have enough even though I know my allowance is generous.

usually take a week or 2 in a block for family holiday then the rest spread out throughout the year, usually a couple of days at each school holiday etc.

I’ve got a week off in Aug and 1/2 day allowance left after that. It’ll renew on 1st sept.

10HailMarys · 31/07/2023 19:42

I’ve got about eight days left out of 30. I haven’t actually taken it all - I’ve got a week booked for early September and two weeks in October. I’ll probably take three days at Christmas and then I’ll have five days left that I can carry over if I don’t use them.

TheGoodBanana · 31/07/2023 19:43

Mine is Jan to Dec, have 28 days plus bank holidays of which we are required to save 3 days for between Christmas and new year.

I have a just over week booked in August, a week in November and 1.5 days left to take.

Mutabiliss · 31/07/2023 19:47

Leave runs Jan-Dec, 5 days left to use. We get Christmas week off so that's already sorted.

I have to use a lot of leave on childcare because of the ridiculous staggered start of reception, so I'm not seeing getting much time to myself this year and am really feeling it. I could do with a few days off to mooch around and do non-urgent but essential stuff like dentist, optician, clear wardrobe etc.

megletthesecond · 31/07/2023 19:47

Mine is April to march and I've got almost 4 weeks left. I took a weeks unpaid parental leave when DS started his GCSE's which has given me more time to play with.
I work part time with teens so I only need Oct and Feb half term off now. Our office shuts at Xmas.

ScruffGin · 31/07/2023 19:56

Mine is September to September, I've got 4 days left which I'm carrying over to next year
