God I am bored of dogs

And they are everywhere. Obviously barking and shitting which is annoying anyway. But also running and shitting around every tiny bit of green space in cities so that no one else can use these places apart from dog owners. Even when you go to a pub or café half the time these days it's "dog friendly" (why do we all have to be fucking "friendly" btw? "Tolerant" I could at least understand). You can't escape the fucking things. At work we even have dullards cacking on about how they want "office dogs" - nightmare as far as I'm concerned and really if you're going to be accommodating people's personal life at work surely a fucking crèche would be a higher pissing priority. Pet dogs don't even do anything. They literally just exist so that people can have pet dogs. Why the fuck are they suddenly everywhere?

Few days ago went to put a poop bag in a bin ....and I kid u not three different piles of poop around the bin (unbagged on the ground)....new lazy training scheme?!?

Some dog owners really can't take it that others hate their dog and think it is disgusting, one on here has taken offence its hilarious. Obviously if you have a greasy drooling creature in your home you will have to clean constantly or the house will be dirty, have wipe down sofas etc. Or don't have a dog if you want to mop and hoover once a week. They undeniably stink and all houses with them stink, just do, no matter what, many people have a bad sense of smell but if we can smell them outside be sure we can smell them inside. Dog poo does leave marks, it's dirty. Even after pick up. And it is awful to see the minimisation of allergies, do these people also send their kids to school with Nutella allergies? Also the minimisation of letting dogs touch people, if it gets anyone muddy or puts paws on them it is clearly too close and out of control, children don't touch strangers ever so why would it be ok for a dog? Not to mention the total weirdness of even mentioning kids, no comparison at all. One person said their dog is worth more to them then any child, I don't believe in any emergency that would hold for any decent human.

I think it's more the fact that rather than stating that you 'dislike dogs' which is fair enough, no one can argue with that. You and many others in this thread follow it with a barrage of truly offensive and unnecessary nastiness.

'I dislike dogs' - fine.

'I dislike dogs, they are stupid, ugly drooling, stinky good for nothing etc, their owners ALL stink, there's houses ALL STINK, they are all disrespectful, entitled' etc - Not fine!

No dog owner here is reeling off as many offensive terms to non dog owners? That's what I can't get behind. We're all entitled to our opinion, but purposefully trying to seriously upset and offend dog owners it's childish behaviour honestly and shows a lot more about the poster than it does dog owners.

After a lot of thought I decided to get a dog after I lost my husband. She’s my companion, my reason to go for a lovely walk, on the lead, in the park, where I meet other dog walkers and we have a chat. Yes, there are irresponsible owners that let their dogs run around off lead and don’ t pick their crap up but there are also parents who let their children throw rubbish on the floor when there are bins within reach. I don’t take my dog everywhere but a local pub, dog friendly, has a separate room for dogs and their owners which I much prefer going to than a pub where you are amongst patrons. I wouldn’t subject her to trotting round a shop and think taking dogs into an office is ludicrous. Dogs should be treated like dogs not humanised however, someone who loathes dogs I think is someone I wouldn’t like.

Boomboom22 · 01/08/2023 12:40

How on earth is it offensive to state facts such as dogs stink, are greasy and they drool? It's true?

Boomboom22 · 01/08/2023 12:43

How on earth is it offensive to state facts such as dogs stink, are greasy and they drool? It's true? And they are horrifically ugly, just are. Especially their terrifying mouths. The noises they make are all nasty. These are just truths not offensive.

What is offensive is saying they are just being friendly or will lick you to death. Keep that thing the fuck away from me. You do know weekly there are reports of dogs killing people? I don't believe it's safe. Any good owner sats they would never leave a dog alone with a child as they understand they are dangerous.

Boomboom22 · 01/08/2023 12:45

Owning a dog then letting it off lead to me is the real unnecessary selfishness and nastiness with no care or thoughts of the elderly or children's safety.

Because it's not fact?

If your dog is stinky or greasy it's either never been washed or have a skin condition that needs assessment by a vet.

Some dogs drool - dogs with an overhanging mouth such as bulldogs, bloodhounds etc. many don't have this problem. My German shepherd doesn't drool? If he started drooling again he'd be straight to the vet for fear of him having a tooth infection or abbess.

Stop pretending you know everything about dogs when you obviously don't 😂

You wouldn't so offensively call out a human for drooling?

Source of info: I'm a vet nurse, cared for maaaaaany dogs.

MeinKraft · 01/08/2023 12:50

I've noticed more dogs around too but I'm just glad they're getting walked. I wonder how many more are shoved in peoples kitchens or back yards to just look at the 4 walls all day.

You are missing out on one of God's greatest gifts. I usually find that people who don't like dogs are less likeable than those who do.

As I've said upthread, not liking dogs doesn't mean you don't dislike other animals.

But people seem to find nuance difficult these days. No shades of grey allowed.

Bliss1221 · 01/08/2023 13:02

I find them annoying too..on the beaches even signs are all over no dogs allowed and dog beach is half a mile up but naah they dont go there. So there are dogs running around peeing on sand castles and pooping on the sand where kids dig and make sandcastles.

At the park, i have 2 autistic children who are scared of dogs, one freezers other runs,a toddler and a baby- dog running towards us at full speed when we feed ducks minding our own business, runs all around us scares the ducks away eats all the breas, the owner arrives out of breat he is supposedly a really nice dog but he cant disturb him when he is eating, dog finished all the bread started sniffing and bouncing around the kids one my eldest ran away dog chasing after her, so i had an autistic child running one direction toddler and other autistic child stsnding still luckily snd me with a baby racing after my austic child trying to calm her down asking the owner to get his dog.

i think all dogs should be on leads on oublic places,do whatever you want in your own garden but besides the points made above i dont like strange dogs sniffing my butt hands or jumping on me or my kids

They smell and regularly attack. If one touched me I would call the police as it is clearly out of control which is illegal. They are so so so terrifyingly ugly with their mouths teeth panting, I don't see anything cute just a monster that wants to eat/ kill me. I hate them so much. And I hate people who compare them to kids more, what sort of psychotic thinking leads people to those thoughts? How could anyone with any humanity think dogs are nicer than wonderful children!

Jesus Fucking Wept! Get over yourself.

@vivainsomnia yes, all these people who apparently can’t leave their homes without stepping in dog shit or being knocked down and slobbered over by dogs. Not my reality at all.

You also said that you have never been barked at by a dog in a public space. So I am not sure what exactly your reality is…

I just had to post on this subject. I like the look of some dogs but don't want them jumping up at me, licking my feet or sniffing my crotch thank you very much.
Am sat on a train, 1.5 hour journey.
A woman just got on with a small, badly behaved dog which instantly dived under my seat to tangle with my feet, then went to another passenger who was eating. The dog's owner seems incapable of controlling her dog but is loudly shouting instructions to it which it duly ignores.
I am just reckoning I will need to move carriages......

It's only on MN that I've encountered people who don't appear to like animals. I don't trust people who dislike animals. They are the real sociopaths.

’I don't trust people who dislike animals’

Break down this trite cliche for me. How does it work in practice?

Say a doctor is treating your child. You like them and they are doing a good job. You then find out that they dislike dogs. Do you walk away because you don’t trust them?

A lawyer is completing your house sale. You suddenly discover they don’t like cats. Do you halt the conveyancing process? No trust there.

You meet a lovely school mum for coffee. She says she hates hamsters. Do you not see her again? Can’t trust her you see.

People often make this kind of self-important comment, thinking they are being original and clever. Sometimes prefaced by ‘my mum said never trust someone who hates dogs’.

I just wonder how you get through life with such mistrust and paranoia?

And fwiw that’s not how you diagnose a ‘sociopath’.

It does feel like everyone has a dog these days

bloody annoying creatures: hairy, stinky shit-machines

barking, yapping, jumping, drooling, licking. Shitting!

yuck

I can see both sides have to some extent been overtaken by hyperbole…

Meanwhile, I’m still musing over the excrement issue. Is there a way that dog owners can properly, hygienically clean up after their dogs? That would be a start…

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 01/08/2023 13:46

And yet, @Boomboom22 , you yourself have gone on to compare dogs to children - with your statement about children apparently not going around touching people. I have been randomly touched by a child before. Doesn't bother me though, as I know I'm not the only person walking the earth, and I should be making adjustments for those around me. Also, do you know how many children have taken it upon themselves to just start touching my dog, without my consent? Should I be calling the police over that? They are clearly out of control, after all.

Worldwide2 · 01/08/2023 13:50

I have to say all dogs have a 'dog smell' they just do. It's not being horrible they just do. I personally really don't like it, if you stroke a dog and smell your hand it smells of dog. I think that's part of having a dog that most dog owners genuinely don't mind and I think they can't smell anymore. Any house I have been in that has a dog you can smell they have a dog.
However I don't think dogs 'stink' some might do really bad if they aren't looked after/bathed ect but I don't think all dogs stink that's a bit harsh to say.
This is why I avoid interactions with dogs not because I don't like them as such I really don't like the smell it's just off putting.

Whatapickle07 · 01/08/2023 13:52

I have two dog's, but I do agree, we don't take ours to restaurants unless there is somewhere outside to sit, ours are well behaved and don't yap and will just relax.but understand people don't want a dog sat next to them in a eating space.

But other people's don't and piss me off with their whining and barking when you're trying to relax and eat. Also agree with people not picking up after their dog's. It's disgusting. I love my dog's, because they are polite and well behaved. But equally I don't see them as babies or children and there is a time and place for them.
