The Mumsnet passive aggressive comment thread 😂

I was driving through a small cotswold village yesterday and there were a number of roadsigns that really reminded me of mumsnet. 😂

First there were several 30mph signs. A few hundred feet along was another sign saying 'It's still 30'. Next was 'Remember?' and then my favourite....'Had you forgotten?'

I've no issue as the fact they stayed in my memory likely means they better achieved their purpose than if they just went unnoticed, but the 'Had you forgotten?' really reminded me of the mumsnet classic 'Did you mean to be so rude?' 😂😂😂

I thought it'd be funny to have a thread to capture these mumsnetisms. The other common one I always see is 'doesn't sound like you like her very much' which I just encountered five mins ago on the thread where the OP is concerned her obese friend may not cope with the physical aspects of the job she's putting her forward for.

Hit me up with your favourites or show me your passive aggressive anger at my daring to mock this established mumsnet institution!

Well would I be judged if he did? 😁

It seems so

Joey2323 · 30/07/2023 17:20

Why did you feel the need to start a thread about this?

bexause it’s a public forum, Sandra. People are free to start and read whatever threads they like

Boogily · 30/07/2023 17:32

Haha! Excellent thread
What about the simple but devastating. '🙄'

SmudgeButt · 30/07/2023 17:33

Why do you let your mother/MiL/DH/DC/CF/SD/child's teacher/next door neighbour talk to you like that?

MrsToothyBitch · 30/07/2023 17:33

When someone has made some easily decipherable, obviously unintentional typos in an easy to comprehend post and some smugger comes along to stick the boot in. They always have to a variant of "I couldn't read this; I couldn't understand what OP was on about- such terrible english". Even though the rest of the thread seems to have got the gist.

PuppyMonkey · 30/07/2023 17:34

No, if you’re doing an emoji, please stick the far superior MNHmm or Confused

LadyMargaretDevereux · 30/07/2023 17:36

'Why don't you just ask him about it?' When op has told us that she has found lingerie, a condom and a spare phone in his gym bag, for example and she's come on mn for a bit of sympathy or advice or to hear other people's experiences. Yeh sure, just ask him - why didn't she think of that?

Porageeater · 30/07/2023 17:43

Not your circus, not your monkeys OP.

HippyPippy · 30/07/2023 17:44

I also really like the stating the obvious advice.

‘I’ve lost my phone’ - response ‘have you tried ringing it from another phone?’

’I’m struggling with the behaviour of my child ’ - response ‘have you turned off the WiFi and stopped pocket money?’.

No, because I’m not at the end of my tether having exhausted all other options hence why I’m posting on the internet 🙄

Porageeater · 30/07/2023 17:47

When OP is complaining about someone, usually a parent and someone comes on saying ‘well my mum is dead so count yourself lucky yours is an arsehole’

7eleven · 30/07/2023 17:47

Ignore the batshit losers on this thread.

Get a grip.

Random789 · 30/07/2023 17:49

"Is this a reverse?" when the person knows it isn't a reverse but just wants to make the OP feel small.

Also, "I can't understand what your problem is", meaning "You are so clueless that the problem you think you have is a thousand mile from your real problem, which is your cluelessness." I got this one once, and I told the poster that if she couldn't understand she was free not to post on the thread.

Another one is the simple, one-word "Eh?", to which the correct response is fuck off.

Massive salad.

ilovesooty · 30/07/2023 17:53

You're finding your mother difficult? I'd give anything to have my dead mother back.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 30/07/2023 17:54

Not necessarily pa but anyone over 50 who has lost their rag/keys/changed their hairstyle "this is how xxxs dementia started" "you need to get them to a gp for a memory test".

BitchyHen · 30/07/2023 17:57

"Welcome to mumsnet" to imply poster is a troll without actually trollhunting.

"Welcome to mumsnet" to imply poster is a troll without actually trollhunting.

Along with "interesting first post".

DebussytoaDiscoBeat · 30/07/2023 18:01

I'm glad you used paragraphs in your OP OP because I couldn't possibly understand what you'd written otherwise.

Now, could someone possibly borrow me a fiver?

PetitPorpoise · 30/07/2023 18:03

"Interesting first post, OP."

"Is it half term already?"

Or on a reality TV thread, in Telly Addicts: "why do you even watch this nonsense?"

Cattenberg · 30/07/2023 18:04

Interesting first post, OP.

Why haven’t you left him yet?

(Posted two hours after the OP)

You both sound as bad as each other, to be honest.

I wouldn’t dream of doing that, but you do you.

MerinoCashmere · 30/07/2023 18:06

This says more about you than the sign-writers.

MerinoCashmere · 30/07/2023 18:06

You are just jealous.

PuppyMonkey · 30/07/2023 17:34

Christ, I hate those.

MerinoCashmere · 30/07/2023 18:07

You need to think about why the signs made you feel like this.
