Just that really.

I converted to Catholicism but I think that bit's a bit harsh.

Whatever answers you're looking for, the Catholic Church doesn't have them.

Matt Fradd thinks homosexuality is a disorder so he can fuck himself.

Unfortunately it's church teaching that it's a sin. And I was bi before.

Woah. That escalated.

You might have half your sexual self in suspension somehow but if you were bi you're still bi. Even the catholics are okay with "non practicing homosexuality", but blimey what are you doing to yourself?

emmetgirl · 29/07/2023 18:01

I don't think anything as I'm an antitheist

porridgeisbae · 29/07/2023 18:02

But now you're convinced if you don't follow each rule to the letter you'll go to hell?

@JeandeServiette Unfortunately them's the rules. I mean obviously there are some sins that are more serious than others but this is deemed a mortal (serious) sin unless it's a compulsive habit or something and the person can't control it. I'm not that far gone Grin

I’m surprised anyone converts into any religion and is then surprised that it’s all about controlling women. Have you not looked into it at all before?

Chickenkeev · 29/07/2023 18:04

Ninefriends · 29/07/2023 17:26

If masturbating is too ‘adult’ and not religious enough, we could call it ‘ringing satans doorbell’.

🤣🤣🤣

So do you really feel you're inherently sinful and bound for hell? Do you feel you can genuinely repent for all the women you've been sexual with and loved? Are you honestly sorry you did that,do you feel it was just temptation from the devil?

I'm confused why you'd choose a religion that basically demonises your basic instincts. Even if you believe in THAT God, he's hardly sparsely accessible. There's so many denominations, and Judaism dep on your feelings about Jesus. Walking into a strict religion that basically thinks you're fundamentally flawed for a bloke you don't even see anymore seems ludicrous. Sorry.

Beezknees · 29/07/2023 18:05

Well, I don't choose to follow the teachings of some imaginary man in the sky so it makes no difference to me. I'm single by choice and give myself better orgasms than most of the blokes I've slept with.

porridgeisbae · 29/07/2023 18:06

@EatYourVegetables I don't think it's about controlling women particularly, at least not this bit, as the rules about sex etc are the same for men.

if you were bi you're still bi.

I have same sex attraction but it's not part of my identity anymore, just another sinful inclination I have, like gluttony, or b*tching about people.

But....you didn't convert out of serious spiritual conviction or feeling drawn to how good the RC "rules" were...

It's almost like you've picked a religion at (semi) random, one that isn't a good natural fit for you, and now you're trying to be a true believer. I suppose that's what they mean by "zeal of the convert" but you don't sound like a conviction convert.

SleepingStandingUp · 29/07/2023 18:08

So you've specifically chosen a religion that leads you to regret a happy part of your old life, that makes you fundamentally wrong. Do you usually have issues with self love. Not the sex stuff. The "I am worthy, IAM a good person" stuff cos it seems like you want to punish yourself.

Chickenkeev · 29/07/2023 18:09

Honestly, for the life of me i cannot understand why anyone would contemplate choosing to be part of such a vile, corrupt organisation. Complicit in child abuse, child murder, kidnap of women. How does anyone square that circle? By all means believe in God and live by his word, but hitching your wagon to that lot as an adult seems crazy to me.

@SleepingStandingUp everyone is inherently sinful in one way or another, and bound for hell unless they get with the programme. Smile

You're your own worst enemy, op. It's quite sad, really. There's nothing sinful about being human.

ExtraOnions · 29/07/2023 18:14

I’m Catholic … it’s never stopped me. It was also part of Sex-Ed, at no point where we told it was a sin.

I also know gay Catholics, and, Divorced Catholics. I think most clergy (and Papa) understand that we have to read scripture with a healthy dose of realism

Lavender14 · 29/07/2023 18:15

As a Christian I'd say (as with anything) it's open to interpretation and the bible is a guide and I think taking it extremely literally can be harmful. I personally don't think there's an issue with it but I do think it falls under the category of all things are permissible in moderation so to speak. I don't think it's harmful unless it's interfering with your ability to have a healthy relationship with yourself or another person.

There's a wide range of beliefs within Christianity and I feel its up to the individual to decide how they practice their faith in the real world in a way that feels morally and ethically correct to them. And a lot of that is down to how they interpret the messages in the bible and how they feel that works in context of the world. Its up to you to decide where you sit with things like that and you don't need to take any religion as a one size fits all in terms of approach etc.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 29/07/2023 18:16

Take the good bits from the religion (fellowship, etc) and trust your own instincts about the rest. Jesus said we should love others as we love ourselves. That's just about it in terms of commandments from him, along with the ten commandments and paying your taxes (rendering unto Caesar). Read your Bible and be true to yourself. Ignore this man-made rule.

NorthStarRising · 29/07/2023 18:19

I think you make your own choices, and if you’ve chosen a patriarchal faith that tells you that you are a sinner, bound for hell unless you keep all the rules and regulations, you go for it.
Just don’t take anyone else down that road with you, especially minors. That includes any children you might have. Choose mortification, subjugation and abject acceptance of the decrees of the Church, but don’t involve anyone else in your choices.
If you’ve been sexually active outside marriage, or bi or used contraception, you’ve got a lot of ground to make up anyway.

stuckdownahole · 29/07/2023 18:20

I give it a week.

Simonjt · 29/07/2023 18:24

All religious texts are open to interpretation. In Sikhism sex outside of marriage is technically forbidden, but you’ll be hard pushed to find a Sikh who supports that, including Granthi’s.

porridgeisbae · 29/07/2023 18:13

Oh well there it is.

You're either pulling our chains or literally using an entire religion as a BDSM/ replacement in a vaguely masturbatory way anyway.

Can't help you either way there.

Matt Fradd thinks homosexuality is a disorder so he can fuck himself.

Unfortunately it's church teaching that it's a sin. And I was bi before.

If you were bi before then surely you're still bi? Sexuality can't be changed at will.

Don't make excuses for the honophobia of this Matt Fradd guy, or for yours. You chose to follow this religion and interpret the teachings in this way.

Please. Matt Fradd has decided it's a sin, and decided to make videos about hw gay people are disorded and can turn straight. Don't try to defend him.
