...to hate Miele?

I am attempting to call out an engineer under the extended warranty scheme. This is the fifth or sixth time the wretched thing has broken down in the last three or four years.

First I called John Lewis for the reference, and they put me through to Miele. After 20 mins, the phone went dead. Rang back, and after a further 20 mins got through to a call handler who needed to check my policy number, she said.Ten minutes later, the phone went dead again.

So frustrating. My Miele vacuum also broke down after 18 months.I am careful with my stuff and always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

I buy the best quality I can afford but it won't be Miele next time. They have an out of date pandemic related message on their holding thing as well. Seriously unimpressed.

Is Bosch any better? My old faithful washing machine will also need replacing soon...

Our Samsung fridge has been pretty good so far- about 10 years old. Our washing machine however is just a simple Hoover and is now into its 14th year. I haven't had Bosch but my parents used to have Miele and they didn't last well.

Washing machines, I second the vote for Ebac, very well built and made in the UK.

For vacuum cleaners, for a cylinder vac it has to be Numatic International, makers of Henry, James, Hetty etc.. made in the UK, all parts freely available and very good to deal with

Upright vacuum Nilco, I have a Nilco combi which is excellent.

Interesting re AEG and Ebac - noted !

I replaced my Miele Hmm vac with an upright Shark. It gets a lot of use with three cats and a dog in the house, and I really like it. Ditto the hand held version.
